A fit Paul Turnbull would be a great signing for Barrow but he has struggled to be 100% for the last 12-18mths. If much rather be stayed with us still, we sure be trying best we can to keep him. Guess if a 2 year deal was on the table though it's tough to turn down.

Heslop turned down contract offer and gone elsewhere.

Barry and Rooney coming in. If Barry is fit he's a top signing (if he bothers to play for us this time) I've never rated Rooney, but I'll give him a chance.

He's the sort of player we've been missing for years (most would say since Darren Sheridan), and we're desperately short of leaders - Livesey's the only player worthy of the armband really, so Turnbull should be perfect for us. Let's hope he can keep fit.

A fit Paul Turnbull is one of the best midfielders in this league, but his fitness is very much in question. I have to say I'm surprised Barrow are going to take a chance on him, I didn't think he'd stay with us (given his fitness, I strongly expect he's been offered reduced terms), but I thought he'd end up at either Stockport or one of the monied Conference North teams like Salford or Fylde.

He is a brilliant leader. I wonder who will be made our captain once he's gone - it's going to be weird after 3 years of Turnbull being captain.

How good is Shwan Jalal just out of curiosity?

He's decent, but made too many mistakes last season to be one of the best keepers. He's not as good as Taylor, but still a decent keeper.

You in for him?

Like so many Imps players, can hardly remember anything decent about his loan time here. Obviously has done well at Macc and his Lincoln time can't really be judged if he has been OK elsewhere.

All I remember of him when he came here was letting Harry White's weak effort easily roll over him and into the net, wasn't a great impression really

Ouch that's ugly! Sure it was just a one off though, all keepers make mistakes, even Manuel Neuer an expert from crosses completely punching down the wrong line and missing the ball vs Porto in the Champions League. 15 clean sheets is good though, of course that's down to the defence in front of him too, something that Belford wasn't helped by early last season.

Jalal's a typical top-half Non-League keeper - prone to the odd howler but generally solid. A Top Lad pretty good guy too.

I'm sure he's a good keeper really and that was probably just one mistake just happened to be the only real impression I saw.

Rooney would be loss to us I'll admit, although I'm not devastated about it to be honest. He's a match winner who comes up with special moments but I can guarantee you'll moan about him every week. I don't think it's a good move for him or Wrexham.

With Hannah gone, Rooney heading out and the likelihood of Heneghan leaving for a tribunal fee it's our three highest earners leaving.

Watch out lads! :£:bg:

Can't imagine how your fans must be feeling at the moment. You only have to look at Red Passion to see fans groaning about not having signed someone for a few weeks (even though we'd already signed 7).
As for Rooney, I'll keep an open mind about him. I don't expect him to carry us single handedly next season, just provide a good amount of assists and goals. Not looking for a huge workrate either as hopefully we'll have that in our strikers this time which was missing once Gray decided to be an idiot and found himself left out of the team.

We just need a signing of any description, nobody through the door at all yet and McCarthy is on holiday this week so not expecting anything for a bit yet either.

We are usually in that boat most seasons, but Cox seams to have his act together regarding signings. With Gateshead, Tranmere and even the likes of Boreham Wood picking up good players it is perhaps not a season to get left behind signings wise.
If the rumoured signings of Heslop, Turnbull and Sutton are all correct we'll now have a 1-11 who are nearly all 6'0"+ (not sure how tall Hannah is?) We'd still be short of 1 CB, 1 or 2 F and a 2nd keeper though....

I'm still expecting one of our players from last season to sign for you. A lot have already found themselves a club but there is still Hudson & Moke, both of whom are very capable players at this level on their day. I actually would have kept Hudson because he is still young even though he had a pretty bad end to the season.

Don't think Hannah is even close to 6" is he? Always looked pretty small when I've seen him..

yeah he was my one doubt - everyone else we have signed seams like a giant - 6'5" CB, 6'4" striker (Bennett) etc

It's a good idea, one thing we've always lacked, although there was a slight improvement last season. Doesn't always work though, I remember the team of giants Lincoln built a few seasons ago, looked like kids vs well.. Giants, forget adults!

Gateshead/Halifax fans? We've just signed CJ Hamilton. You reckon he's good enough for L2?

I wouldn't say so yet very raw and his head can go down easily. Still was our best player for the last 10 games. That is not saying much though

It's been said by Imps on here that its £I million over 5 seasons.
It is, but that's not all in the playing budget. The split is 50/50. The other 50% will go towards general running costs because of the Co-op Bank situation.

Matt Fry has left Braintree, wonder where he's going????
He's got a decent accountancy job apparently, plus, as Branston says, we have enough CB's at the minute (I'd probably shift a couple of those on if possible, though). Be surprised if it happened purely because of who we have here at the minute.

Woodyard (in talks with us) and Habergham (wants FT football) are also set to leave Braintree.

That'll be the manager, assistant manager, GK Coach and the Captain who's one of 8 to leave. Only two that I can see have agreed new deals there.

Surprised that Wrexham fans are not happy with Rooney.

Always thought he was a good player when we have played against him.

I think you've got yourself a good player there

According to the Echo, Alex Woodyard, Matt Fry and Sam Haberghan are all close to joining us from Braintree.

Didn't think we'd be in for Fry for no other reason that we have 2x CB's under contract (McCombe and Waterfall), 1x triggered another year, although we're yet to here if that went through (Chris Bush) and 1x offered a new contract to (Callum Howe). Then there's Lee Beevers who can also play there if needed.

Is that just a rumour (hence being posted in this thread), or for definite? Really don't think we'll go higher. Personally, I hope we don't.
