McAnuff, Akpan, Guthrie. Can they take Robson-Kanu from us to complete the set?

What a terrible midfield they could have.

Will have to pop into the bookies when i'm in Bracknell tomorrow and put money on Blackburn getting relegated. That midfield will be shocking.

Very good post, Afobe is another one. For me Bradshaw would be a great addition depending on how those hamstrings hold up.

I agree. I think Tom Bradshaw would prove to be a great investment for most teams in this league. I'd certainly have him at Wolves if we ever needed a striker for this league (or if Afobe leaves).

Just with Tosh's excellent post in mind. Bradshaw is better now than Deeney and Grigg were when they left. He's also got 'more to his game' than Fryatt did, in that he actually does the hard work and back to goal stuff.

He isn't ready to be a championship starter yet, but if he's phased in like Watford did with Deeney, he's destined for good things. Obviously when you watch a player weekly you can become bias and blind, but anything less than £1m for a 23 year old with 2 years on his deal, who scored 20 in 30 starts in his first full football league season, who is constantly growing as a player, has worked on his hamstring with a specialist over the summer, looks a stone lighter and has 4 in 3 already this season would be an utter joke.

If he played for Posh we'd be talking £2-3m for him and obviously whilst I'm not saying he's worth anything like that - he's a good investment for a team who want to develop a young lad and phase him in. As I say..his all round game and goal scoring ability is FAR superior to Troy Deeney when he left Walsall..and his attitude is just as good as Deeneys was on the pitch.

We can't really lose. He won't leave for anything less than stupid money before September 1st and I'll be amazed if he doesn't get 20-25 goals again this season and IF he does, then the big money bids will start coming in..£1.5m-£2.5m etc - which would be absolutely fair.

Only seen him a couple of times, but have been impressed. If he was available at around £1.5m I'd definitely snap him up, would be a great back up to the forwards we have.

Think the management are trying to get someone in to become a key player from day 1, but I'd be happy with Bradshaw.

Yep. Shown their hand over Gayle.
It's obvious we have a lot to spend now, and clubs will squeeze every last penny out of us. People who have bought into Cotterill saying 'I'm not sure whether we can afford our targets' on Friday are complete idiots. It's clear what he's trying to do.

Very good post, but, I still stand by what I said. £2.5m for a striker with an injury record, who isn't proven in this league seems expensive.

But, whilst saying that, he is an excellent striker, with a track record to score goals.

I'd like Bradshaw here, but not for £2.5m.

That's about what we paid for Maynard who had slightly more experience.

Jacob Butterfield would be a bizarre signing for us - I think he would be a good one though.

I expect someone to come in, hopefully someone with a bit of quality, but we'll see. Hanson could well step up, like he did against Charlton, and save us a few bob.

Sounds like more shenanigans at Forest, they'd lined this Frey lad up on a loan from Lille, he'd turned Blackburn, Forest pulled out of the deal last night.

Can't complain at turning 600ish thousand into 8 million in a year. Huge blow for our season if this goes through though, especially with all the long term injuries we currently have. Everything looked so rosy a few weeks back.

I'm a lot more at ease with that figure of money having watched him Saturday, he looked pretty damn good.

Ongoing talks apparently.

£8m accepted for Andre Gray.

I think you can take all the transfer fees North End have spent on strikers since i've been alive and it wouldn't add up to that.

Only if he's better than the last striker we signed from you!

Not sure what happened with Grigg at Brentford as he left and went to score goals again! But yeah, he is, just about better than Grigg currently. Certainly at putting the ball in the net from anything bar a penalty.

Gray playing well against us was the worst thing that could happen not just on the pitch but in regards to that transfer. Probably convinced Lansdown to give Cotterill the go ahead. Annoyed, and seriously hope Talksport are wrong.

Just don't sign him in time for tomorrow, please. Brentford will do very well to challenge with the way their summer has panned out.

Yep, the backroom staff aren't stupid and knowing all the interest there has been will have replacement targets lined up for sure. Andre offers us so much though, it will be extremely tough to replace him adequately.

Why will City fans be annoyed if they sign him? It's not like the chairman is going to up sticks and leave you in the shit and Andre is a fantastic player.

I think we're baring in mind that Yannick Bolasie is very likely to be leaving Palace in the coming days, for the reported fee, we'd be getting £4m of that. Suddenly, you're only £3.75m down on net profit for the summer, which isn't anything outrageous for this league.

Jesus Christ.

As mentioned on the previous page, why not just invest on a top end L1 striker who will more than likely transfer his form up a division? Tom Bradshaw would have been perfect IMO.

Afobe cost us 2m, now look at him.
Gray cost Brentford 600k from the conference.
Many other examples listed earlier too.

Paying insane prices for an already proven Championship striker is madness, look at McCormack, 11 fucking million. Everyone going for the prem this season but only 3 can make it, will end it tears for many teams.

8m on someone who scored 18 goals in 50 games last season? Na.

He looked good on Saturday, but I'd still be pissed off. We're helping turn this league into a Premier League mk 2

Might as well put in a £5m bid for Paul Benson whilst we're at it, he looked decent against us as well.

He's played a game and a half so far this league season, and during that time he's had a hand in 5 of our 6 goals. Effective.

Obviously we'd need to give a chunk of the fee to Luton, and even though I'm hearing £8m plus add ons, the payment schedule for that £8m would likely be 2, 3 or even 4 years. That said, we need reinforcements. With Jota, McEachran, Bjelland, Hogan and McLeod all injured for lengthy spells, our side is looking severely depleted despite picking up points this season.
