Sharp was more than good enough here for this level. (For half a season)

Meh. He'll chip in with a few and would do alright for a team battling relegation at this stage of his career imo but no-one was bothered here that he left. Did a job but he's at the right level for the twilight years I think now.

Dominic Iorfa and Kourtney Hause both linked with Tottenham, seems they had a few scouts there for the Toulon tournament.

Linked with Reece Burke 19 year old centre back from West Ham. Would imagine it would only be a loan deal if true as apparently he's very highly rated, so can't see him being sold.

Just saying but we've had Ajose, Sharp and Morison here in recent years and none of them were good enough at this level. Don't know enough about Grigg but it is a big step up.

Sharp and Morison have both done it at this level before.

3-4 years ago? We're in dire straits but I wouldn't go near either of them again.

That has nothing to do with your argument, though, mate. You were talking about the step up and both of them have made the step up, so are bad examples. Leeds is the only club Morison hasn't done well at.

Nah that's not my argument. My point is, the players towards the top of the goalscoring charts have pretty poor records in the Championship recently, which suggests to me that there is a significant gap (perhaps moreso than in other years).

Sharp for example, scoring at 1 in 4 or 5 recently in the Championship, suddenly starts banging in 20+ once dropped a level.

Players can clearly make the step up, but I feel it's a bigger step up than ever before, perhaps.

Been a poor league this year, but then scoring against crap sides is wonderful for confidence and football's 90% just that. Assombalonga, Dicko, Bamford, Afobe and Wilson have all made the step up in recent seasons. I think scoring 20+ is at least a good indicator that a player will do well in the 2nd tier, even if they don't reach the same figures the following season.

Yeah I just think history has shown it can be a bit hit and miss. I guess I'm still bitter since we signed Paynter and not Austin from Swindon in 2010!

Helps if a player has some pace too I think...like pretty much all those listed. Gives you a chance at any level.

Burnley will probably have a few cut-price bargains after getting promoted - for starters, I cannot see striker Lukas Jutkiewicz, winger Michael Kightly, central defender Kevin Long or left-back Danny Lafferty getting much (if ANY) game time.

Although a Dyche favourite, Scott Arfield might also be a casualty now if we sign some decent midfielders. Hard-worker who weighs in with a fair few goals so ideal for the Championship (maybe Huddersfield might fancy him?).

Still lives in Huddersfield, I see him all the time out with his other half and mates. I would take him back definitely, seems to have come on leaps and bounds since leaving and the guy is a top top lad.

Newcastle linked with Jordan Ibe.

We're apparently keeping tabs on bringing Sergi Canos back, but at the moment we can't match the finances needed so it looks like he might head elsewhere in the Championship

Nixon reckons we're set to take Barnsley for all their staff, and some of their players.

Heard a few bits about Brownhill and Hammill, but think the Mawson talk is bullshit personally.

Brighton have asked after Glenn Murray and we've asked for "a 7 figure fee" - according to Brighton's local press.
Fulham also linked.

We've supposedly bid E4M for this guy, Lys Mousset.
I wouldn't fancy him coming at you from one side and Kodjia from the other.
Allez les Rouges I say.

Nice. Wasn't that the page that reported we'd bid for Kodjia?

I believe so mate.
Brownhill allegedly done, fee agreed with Preston for 'training compensation'
Hammill supposedly next week. Not sure I believe that one.
Matthews end of next week.
Tomlin, 'keen but expensive'. Not too convinced we'll get LT.
Mawson, one of many after him. 'Long way to go'.

That's our updates sorted for now.

that second goal was a cracker

Edit- so apparently Bournemouth and Fenerbace are after him too. If that's the case we don't have a chance

Preston testing the water with Bradshaw and Bonser's resolve given he is out of contract. Second bid of £550k rejected.

If they offer a million he will be gone. Can't do much about it given his contract situation. Unless he signs a new one with a reasonable release clause in it, as a 'thanks' to the club for plucking him out of oblivion after he left Shrewsbury.

Looks like quite a prospect.

First player we've been linked with that I really hope we can pull off.

Reece Burke has sent out a cryptic tweet that I do hope isn't related to his opinion on any interest from us. "Embarrassing" with a thumbs up emoji. He's the best player we've been linked with by a mile so far, would be delighted with him on a season long loan.

The same source that linked us with Burke say we're also interested in taking Alex Bruce from Hull on a free. I've not seen enough of him to judge how good he is, but surely he's a solid reliable defender that would be a good experienced signing for a team like us coming up from League One?

Any interest we have in Hourihane has probably hit a roadblock with Barnsley's promotion, however if these rumours are true and Bristol City raid them then hopefully he'll will be more inclined to exit potentially a sinking ship rather than stick around.

Can you afford to turn down £600 / 700K though? No Championship club would worry at spending that WTGR and leaving his contract to run out won't be good for you. When you consider he can start to negotiate a 'free' in January, do you honestly think his heart will be in it?

I suspect our transfer activity might be the least talked about in the championship !
Anyway for anybody who is interested we have been linked with Sonny Bradley a 6'5'' defender from Crawley and I have heard rumours about James Wilson of Oldham and Ben Turner of Cardiff, no idea if any of these are true mind !

You'd better hope that James Wilson of Oldham isn't true based on his time here in the Championship!

Sonny Beadkey formerly of Aldershot? Jesus Christ, I've said it once and I'll say it again, look at our released list Burton for player who won't cost the world and would so half a job.
