Because, like with last summer we are happy to throw around massive bids but when it comes to wages we expect to do it on the cheap.

I don't care if Lansdown doesn't want to pay the money, that's up to him, but it annoys me when he put in huge bids for players (as he will have done with Tomlin) only to decide we'll offer him less than he's currently on, what's the point? Don't bother bidding in the first place.
If he's expecting to drop down to the Championship and recieve the same amount of money he'll be in for a shock. I'd love him here but he we pay him what he's on at Premier League Bournemouth then we're mental. There's a difference between paying the going rate and going crazy.

So many of our fans seem to have completely forgotten what happened last time we were in this league.

So we're not prepared to give Tomlin Premier League wages and we've offered Pack and Smith a pay rise. What's wrong with that exactly?
Nothing as far as I can see bud.

Isn't it a case of first offers? We offer for example £15K, LT wants £20K, we agree, eventually at £17k?
I think the whole O'Neill thing is bollocks personally as it just doesn't fit our infamous 'DNA' to offer £18K a week to a player with no sell on value.
Let's wait and see what transpires before crucifying SL eh? That said, it does 'appear' that the lessons of last summer MAY be being repeated which is a concern.
Out of interest, what happens with LT's exisiting B'mouth contract if he hasn't asked for a transfer? Do they make up the difference for the term of the contract or pay him off?

So him being the one to break the news means he chat shit?

If anything it's proved you wrong again, in that he gets stuff right for us. He was the first to break the news AGAIN.

He then went onto say this is normal in negotiations and not to sweat over it, as they'll keep going at it.

It's not over yet, they'll keep going at it. It may even be done, but the scepticism is because of what Pack's dad posted on Facebook (before deleting it and deleting his account), but even so he couldn't spell Tomlin's name correctly, and the fact he thinks we won't pay Tomlin's wage but we'll pay £18k per week for a 33 year old is a bit daft.

Lansdown knows that if Tomlin goes to another club and we start poorly next season fans will turn on him. We'll see. Probably won't hear anything for the next two weeks, given the fact he's just gone on his holibobs.

Anyway, more to the point; why're you on OTIB? You sad, obsessive fucker.
I am sensing a bit of 'City' obsession Steve I must say. :hypo: Some of our own fans don't go on OTIB wtgr mate. Personally, I don't mind it but it's pretty unforgiving at times.

Gets his stuff right? he said a fee would be £1.5m, Tomlin himself laughed that off, your alarm bella should be ringing then as to what he actually knows.

He told you not to sweat about negotiations like he knows what happens, he ant got a fucking clue, he's a jumped up journo who THINKS he knows the score.

All he's done is alerted clubs to the supposed price of Tomlin got them interested and promised him a hike in wages, Tomlins gone back to you saying this and you don't fancy paying it, simple really.

I saw that from his dad, quite clearly Tomlin was auto corrected to Tomlinson and what in earth is he getting out of lying? You're blinkered to what he's said and cling on to every work of Alan Nixons like he some sort of transfer god. Embarrassing.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, my mate works for the club and looks at what's going on elsewhere and was on about Bristol and Tomlin in group message and I couldn't resist looking, safe to say it was worth it.

Definitely won't be the last we hear on Tomlin. I still firmly believe he'll sign. Lansdown has far more to lose if he doesn't.

For starters, no he didn't. He reported we'd bid for two players. One Mousset, one Tomlin. He said £2.5m for one, £1.5m for the other.

We're well aware of what Tomlin wanted. He'll be taking a wage cut to come here IF he does, but like I said it won't be the last you hear of it.

There's still a lot of signs (ignoring Nixon) to suggest he'll sign. Tomlin wants to come here, the fans want him, Lansdown knows he's going to cost, put the money up.

Lansdown's learnt from the last time we were in the Championship in giving into silly wage demands, but with this deal there's a massive risk a club will come in and table £30k for him, like Derby or Norwich. This deal needs to move fast, otherwise we'll get pipped to it.

I'm inclined to agree but not at the risk of doing what we did last time we were up here. The days of playing silly wages have gone but with the higher turnover figure, I have no idea what would constitute a 'silly' wage for us nowadays.

As an aside, this is an interesting comment from the Barnsley CEO. Wether it applies to Hammill etc or not I have no idea.
chief executive Ben Mansford told the Chronicle.

"But we have to remember that Championship players earn £8,000 per week on average whereas the average in League One is £1,600 to £1,800. That's a huge gap. Though our turnover has doubled, the expectations of the players have quadrupled. We need to be responsible about the finances we commit ourselves to. I hope the fans are up for the challenge of progressing in the Championship because it's probably a bigger challenge than promotion was."

"Winger Hammill – who scored fantastic goals in both Wembley finals – has been offered a two-year deal by the Reds, while full-backs Aidy White and George Williams have also been offered new contracts. Young midfielder Jak McCourt has been released.

Mansford said: "Adam probably could secure greater finance than we might be able to sensibly offer in the Championship. But it might come down to the whole package and the length of contract we can offer him. He's at the stage in his career where he might feel he has to go for the best financial offer but we can counter that with his emotional attachment to our club and the fact that he has clearly played some of the best football of his career at Oakwell. I am just aware that his quality of performance in the last six months may mean there is significant Championship interest in him."

So the French press are talking shit then? As it were on here other day saying French kid would be 4m euros. Face it Nixon didn't have a clue about the transfer fee.

What he wanted previously was probably less than what he wanted after other clubs realised they could pick him up for that little of an amount.

You'll have been pipped already, clubs and managers actively look at Twitter and gob a lot will have sparked dozens of clubs interest and the prices he was spouting. Your God Nixon has done you over.

It was blatantly obvious we were going to go in for Tomlin, it would have been known to every club at this level and the lower half of the PL that he was available and at what price.

Bournemouth obviously weren't in a position to command a fee of more than they got him for, so that's utter bollocks as per usual.

Twitter-gate with Tomlin on Friday was strange, he could well have already signed, and it looked that way given what he was saying.

He wants to come here by his own admission, the affection he had with the fans was absolutely incredible for a loan player, akin to the relationship Matt Smith had with the fans last year, again a loan player.

I still think he'll sign, so we'll see fella.

To be honest there wont be much, if any transfer news until the first week of July. Most players, managers, agents and so on are on their summer holidays. Just because there isn't much coming out of Tomlin isn't necessarily a bad thing, he's probably just away somewhere with his family enjoying himself for a few weeks.

Getting married today apparently, so give it 2 weeks for honeymoon as well, wouldn't expect any progress on the result of tomlin signing or not until after that.

Silly jock c*** will still think we'll end up appointing Warnock as manager,

He didn't have a clue about Stubbs and Stubbs was at a club on his own turf.

We bought a shit load of average Championship rejects on long contracts that then we quickly realised weren't good enough and had hanging around for years stealing a wage cause we couldn't shift them. Entirely different situation to signing Lee Tomlin who we know is proven class and well worth the extra bit of £.

To be honest I doubt "Premier League" Bournemouth are even paying him much more, if any more than he was on at Boro.

Ive heard a few people say that Tomlins on £27k a week. Our top earner for this season is on £11k a week

No, definitely didn't have a clue did he?

Hahahaha That was the day it was being announced in literally 3 hours from that tweet and he still thought there was a alight xhance it could fall through hahah, brilliant.

Tony's first choice was never gunna be anyone else, we'd been in talks with Stubbs for a good week, hence why as soon as hibs have permission the deal was done, we already knew what he wanted

I know the kid who tweeted him that he was on a fucking wind up hahaha

It's kind of sad that you have to pretend to have mates that work
