Jermaine Beckford signs on a two-year deal.

Absolutely delighted, made himself a hero at Deepdale and you can tell he is loving it. His previous record here (which isn't as bad as people make out) doesn't bother me, he works his bollocks off under Grayson and his movement is as good as any Preston player i've seen. He will score goals for us this season.

Will be weird playing against Pearce, that's for sure.

Need to start making moves in the market now. Losing some of our highest wage earners should open up that money to be spent, even if it is only on free transfers.

A travesty if you ask me. Losing a great servant to the football club purely to save a few quid. But we're covering old ground on the ambition debate I fear.

Really glad we have Bent, even better only on a 2 year deal. Anything more than that would have been useless really, he's 31 now so he'd be 33 by the time this contract ends. Pearce I'm not so sure about, but always give the new players a chance so will wait and see how he gets on.

The club have confirmed we're interested in both Ince and Weimann, would be nice to get both but we'd really be pushing the financial boat out then so I'd be a bit sceptical.

"Great servant" - he tried to leave us two years ago

"purely to save a few quid" - we need to save money or else losing a great servant is the least of our worries

I'd rather he stayed then went, but for me it's not a travesty. Do need to act quickly now though in order to replace him.

Both suprised and chuffed about this. Could easily do a job in the division below but great to keep him round the place. Top professional.

Ambition at Reading fc.Not while Madejski is still around in the background. Not too upset that Pearce is gone. His best years are behind him and there is plenty of time for Clarke to bring a replacement in.

Absolutely brilliant to get Darren Bent back on a permanent basis. Never thought that was going to be possible, in this division.

As the Bristol City fans seem keen to keep us informed of their backroom appointments, I am sure we can all share these revelations of stunning newsworthy intent.
Wolves are keeping Mandy and Chelsea-Bobbee on the South Bank upper level refreshment B shift. This means on Tuesday games they'll both be at the club shop #2 till. We wish them well in their new positions and thank them for all they've done for the Billy Wright Family Enclosure Stewards team.

If Derby can keep their team plus Ince / Weimann, surely the minimum expectation will be automatic promotion?

Hull's local paper is saying they're battling to keep Tom Ince, as we've exercised a buy-out clause that was inserted within the loan deal. It says Hull are going to demand full payment up front rather than in installments in the hope we'll back off.

This could get messy, especially if Ince does a George Thorne and starts throwing transfer requests around.

He never should have left Celtic, from being the most in demand striker in Scotland to struggling onto a Championship side's bench.

Just shows what a joke that league is. I'd rather be playing Championship football than winning pointless trophies that mean nothing.

We're looking to trigger the buyout clause for Ince, which is great news.

He'd be my signing of the summer - fit in our team like a glove. Huge talent, who is unbelievably hard working.

Martin is our main striker no doubt, he's a better team player in that he links all the play up so the wingers and midfielders can come in to play. What remains to be seen is if we play a 2 or 1 striker formation, I woulsn't mind a 4-2-3-1 with Bent up too and Martin just behind him.

Astute signings by Derby. My favourites for the top spot now.

Sadly, I feel Derby's day is coming. Unless they can, once again, snatch failure from the jaws of success.

Derby seem to find new ways of screwing up despite having on paper the best squad over multiple years. Any questions over Will Hughes or does he stay for one last push at it? He would be a big loss. Otherwise their squad now probably looks even stronger than ever.

I think Derby looked one of the strongest Championship sides for years last season but somehow the wheels fell off the train at the end.
I reckon Derby will go one of two ways....straight to the top of the division and stay there (staring wistfully up at the Cherries immediately above them) or they will implode a la Wolves and end up down at the Rotherham and Fulham end of the table. Probably the former because their team already looks a class apart, but Clement is an unknown quantity and might be a disaster.

According to today's LEP:

They are working on bringing goalkeeper Johnstone back on a season-long loan from Manchester United.

Gallagher is out of contract at Leicester and PNE officials met with his agent yesterday for further talks.

It is likely that another striker will be added to the squad to increase Simon Grayson’s options up front.

Nice to see a bit of movement.

Seems Scott Laird and Thorsten Stuckmann are on their way out of the club after rejecting the contracts offered to them (probably 1 year deals).

Disappointed for sentimental reasons but both would be back-up this year, new full-backs seem a priority for Grayson.

Hope Stuckmann goes just to see the meltdown on pne online over losing Germany's best ever goalkeeper.:fl:

Also him playing a game in the championship would terrify me.

I think it increases the chances of Jamie Jones staying.....

Apparently we've had a bid turned down from Patrick McClean from Derry City.

He was on trial here last season, never heard of him.
