Rhodes will never be a Premier League striker. He's not quick, strong or anything really except a decent finisher. Even then he needs 3 or 4 chances before he bags. Cracking Championship striker but a budget Kevin Phillips.

Mhm, I said on here at the time that £12m's a hell of a lot to pay for a striker that'll only have an affect for six months. Obviously, in the grand scheme of things it's very little with the amount of money they've recieved from getting themselves promoted but they could've spent the money on someone like Gayle/Gray/Kodjia who could've made the step up.

Hasn't Gayle already played in the Premiership? Surely just as much a question mark over him as Rhodes?

Yeah, and was Palace's top scorer for three years running but still found himself out of favour there.

Doubt it, he signed a new contract till 2018 last month, can't see him looking to leave permanently.
If Man Utd really wanted him long term they'd have given him a longer contract, that deal just ensures Utd get a fee a for him next summer.

Don't think he's ever had a fair crack at the Premier League though, the ridiculous price tags that have always been put on him have probably put a lot of clubs off buying him. No doubt about it he's probably the best goal scorer at this level.
He left it too late to join the Premier League in my opinion. He should have gone when his stock was higher at Blackburn, although to be honest that's more Venky's fault for the ridiculous price tags they slapped on him. Rhodes still should have pushed harder to leave at the time.

Our January is primarily focused on securing loan players. Bartley, Jansson, Hernandez, Sacko. If we sign them up (possibly unlikely all at once given the financial burden) then even if we don't add, we have a strong base for next year. Aside from that, another CB for cover, a winger and a target man back-up for Wood would be nice.

I don't think we'll push the boat out in January, looks like we won't be challenging the top teams, or the relegation places, this season so it wouldn't surprise me if we tried to sell Hogan for a big fee. We just need to make sure we bring in a replacement as the rest of our forward line are awful.

Would imagine we'll try to shop Judge around and get a couple of million for him, rather than losing him on a free. I was hoping Newcastle weren't going to be quite so far out in front, as they'd be more likely to buy if they weren't doing quite so well. Maybe a cheeky bid from Villa...

If we are going to make an attempt to climb the league and push for the play offs, then we need to hold onto both of those two, and bring in a Winger and a DM. There have been some noises about Jota coming back, which I would love, but I can't see him pulling on a Brentford shirt again unfortunately.

Any issues with Hogan's recovery from his long term injury MB? He's going to be very sought after next month, including by us I should think.

I doubt it, he'll have much bigger suitors. We'll go abroad to recruit again I expect.

I never said we'd get him mucker. I agree with you FWIW but have a funny feeling Nahki Wells is BS3 bound. I was actually told that by a friend that supports Huddersfield TBH.

True, we'd have to be on alert as most clubs would at this level. I'd be happy with Wells, would cost big but he's a proven Championship goal scorer.

Been shite for Huddersfield this season by all accounts, possibly got his heart set on a move? Their fans seem to think so.

We'll be making big(ish) moves in January I think, Bruce has said he 'may not need to make any signings' if the squad carries on like it is, but every man and his dog can see we need a midfielder or two plus some defensive back-up. Jedinak has (thankfully) come good under Bruce, but he doesn't seem to like Tshibola, and other than that, our midfield options are incredibly poor with Gardner and Westwood... Grealish played deeper against Cardiff and it seemed to suit him, but he is more suited to an attacking midfield position I believe.

With Yanic Wildschut seen as a striker by Joyce, I'd imagine a certain Mr Grigg will be available to anyone with some cash to throw about on a striker. Don't know how much we'll value him at, personally 4-5 million plus a sell on and I'd let him go. As for our business, a goalkeeper and sorting out on central midfield will probably be the priority.

He has two years left... Johnstone has had offers to leave for the past three transfer windows but he wants to try and push on at United who quoted daft money for him. Seems to me he would rather aim to be their No. 2 rather than join a Championship club.

Lambert openly said he wants at least 2 players with Championship experience. Main areas of need are CB, and striker, start readying all your deadwood that meets that experience tag ready for linking with us.

Don't seem to be. He might struggle as the next international break isn't for a while, I know they are managing his workload quite closely but he's been completely injury free for a while now. Never been 100% fit but if he can score this many goals while not fit imagine what he'll be able to do when he is...

£4-5m for Will Grigg ha ha give over.

Can't see Hogan or Wells going to Bristol City, clubs with far more pull will want them.

We are definitely in for Rhodes and he's been at our place twice recently.

Sunderland want Kieran Lee but have two hopes and one of those is dead.

Don't think either will happen, but if you think of clubs in this division ahead of us that could 1) afford Wells and 2) want him I narrowed it down to Derby and Norwich, and even then you'd think Norwich would set their sights higher (Hogan?) and no-one actually knows what Derby can still spend with FFP regulations.

Purely speculating, as I said I reckon we'll go abroad and try to find another Kodjia anyway.

I think Fosun could outspend you if it came down to it. We desperately need a striker in January, but I doubt we'll go for Hogan. Wells I would like but only under 3/4m. Either way spending big in Jan means you're going to get ripped off.

We've shown we aren't willing to sell our better players with the Forestieri saga so if Sunderland want Lee it will cost them a bomb.

Probably wages wise, and let's be honest that's the only reason currently that Wells would ever consider joining us or you over Huddersfield at this present time.

But we are massive... surely those league titles we won in the 1950's will pursuade him to join

Weren't you criticising him on here when Kieran Lee turned him like a page in a book?

Nah. I'd have to have a look back through my posts later on, I may have criticised him for that particular goal (I wasn't at the game, I only watched the highlights and he got fucking skinned) but Flinty's an absolute rock, him and Magnusson are quite the partnership.

he was terrible in that game, but since then he's been quality in the games I've seen him, one of our most important players currently.

This only adds one more season to how long he is contracted to us. And as much as I like Flint, I think we need to upgrade on him sooner rather than later, though isn't the priority right now.

Seeing as he was contracted until 2019 already it wouldn't totally surprise me if this was a contract to help charge extra for him in the upcoming window.
