My immediate reaction is £100k a week is mental too, when you consider there is no fee as such though you're looking at a shade over £5m for the best defender in the league and most likely be part of the coaching staff too, the experience he brings to the squad and the amount he will bring to the younger players, £5m suddenly seems quite...
Depends, as that is a hefty chunk of any budget, as good as he was could he genuinely cut it down here?

I would predict he'll not be able to cope with the volume of games, you'd get 25 appearances out of him and since his legs have gone it'll be like the Rio Ferdinand situation when he left Manchester United.

Just wondering why there aren't a queue of clubs wanting Walsall's Erhun Oztumer. Seems to be able to get the ball in the net from when he's down at Sainsbury's shopping.

It's definitely a gamble, I agree, also doubt he'd play more the two thirds of the league games such is the volume of matches. Harry mentioned in the press conference about Terry working on his coaching badges which would be part of the offer continuing those alongside playing.

The fact it'll be a two year deal at the absolute MAX is hardly likely to 'bankrupt' us. I'm happy to be linked, I'll still be very surprised if it happens, but has certainly added to the already upbeat feeling amongst the fans, a real positive buzz around at the moment, after finishing above relegation by a single point, all down to Harry, long may it continue.

Also John Terry would be daft not to go over the States to finish his career, go over get a huge pay day, live in the sun for a couple of years etc.

As good as Terry is/was, if he signs for Brum on £100k per week that could absolutely destroy the dressing room.

All the players who haven't had new deals since the takeover will be in immediate contact with their agents you'd imagine, and Terry's hardly going to come into the dressing room as a role model.

John Terry really isn't what he used to be, and I think he'd be exposed even in this division. Also experience is an overrated term I think. Looking at everything considered, I'd be much happier signing a defender like Jason McCarthy for a low fee/wages like Barnsley did, than giving JT a huge pay cheque that could easily unsettle the dressing room than his 'experience' will better it.

Then again it is a big name signing that will get people talking.

Steve Bruce came to us from United in ’96, the legs had gone by then but the football brain and his presence and leadership made up for it. Was a great player for us at the time, hopefully John Terry can replicate the same if he signs. Significantly raises the profile of the club if nothing else.

Would be a big statement of intent for sure.

From partnering Desailly, Carvalho, Campbell, Ferdinand, Luiz and Cahill to.. Ryan Shotton. I don't think there's any question as to whether he could hack it down here, it's fucking pitiful this level sometimes. This is John Terry too we're on about, one of the best PL centre backs in the past decade or so who literally loves defending. He'll have to adapt for sure, he's going to have to be more switched on than ever playing alongside poor players (in comparison with his previous team mates anyway).

I imagine he'll want a hefty signing on fee too so it's probably going to be way north of 5 million but a small price to pay if he helps them get promoted. I'd love to see him at this level, hope they sign him.

He's hardly started games for the last year and at 36 that could be a problem, he was never the quickest anyway so his reading of the game and heading will be the most important thing, odds on him getting multiple red cards in the season?

Maybe so but he'll have still been on top of his fitness even at his age, once he get's his match sharpness back he'll be fine I think. Shotton would probably be a perfect partner jokes aside, perfect cover with bags of pace.
Red cards could be a banker yeah, much more scrappy down here and he's not shy to a bit of controversy.

On a positive note for him, if you can get 46 games out of him at this level then you'd surely be expecting a good amount of goals from him too. Probably more than some "strikers" at this level.

BREAKING NEWS

Huddersfield have had a £7.2million bid for Tom Ince rejected by Derby. The newly-promoted club are expected to return with an improved offer for the former England U21 winger.

I miss the days of seeing past Premier League greats move down the Football Leagues rather than head off to the U.S/now China (although you can understand why), so I welcome this Terry choice.

However, you never truly know how they will perform until they do start playing. Far worse players have dropped down at the final stages of their careers and have shown why they played at the highest level for so long, while players such as Hasselbaink and Fowler were just meh.

Yeah, I'm sure there won't be a massive sign-on fee either.... As has been stated, he could disrupt the dressing room, and I HIGHLY doubt you're the only ones in for him. Been rumours we are for weeks too. Though I know yours is concrete as it's been stated by saggy chops.

John Terry would be great for the Championship. He'll become a non-ferrous legend over in Birmingham. Bit like Emlyn Hughes, Paul Ince and Denis Irwin were with us. Irwin was older than a fucking hobbit when he played for us. Not as tall, mind.

Depends on player power, he wants a shot at Premier League football. Can't see us offering much more than the £7.2 reported (in total).

Makes a nice difference to be the hunter of a top Championship player than being hunted by top Championship teams for one of our players.

You've just earned over £170million, so I'd say the onus is more on you lot to cough up the money than it is on Derby to accept a player being a turd.

If he want's to go he'll definitely go, I won't disagree with that. No point having a want away player on our books especially when he could bring in some serious dosh for GR to use. I doubt we'll accept anything short of 10 million pounds in the current market. Personally think he's worth way more to us at this level, would have to be 15 plus for me, he's probably the best winger at this level.

Half of that if you believe the stories at our end. Probably somewhere in between in all likelihood, can't see us forking out a million on a keeper who wouldn't even be first choice to start with.
