Half of that if you believe the stories at our end. Probably somewhere in between in all likelihood, can't see us forking out a million on a keeper who wouldn't even be first choice to start with.

It'll probably end being something like 500k straight up then another 500-750k in various add ons. We seem to have triggered the year extension in his contract just to sell him. A shame really as he's a boyhood fan and it would've been great to see him have a long career at the club but so far he hasn't really shown that he's anything more than a lower end Championship keeper.

Will Hughes to Watford for £5m? His stock has fallen massively.

Just because a club makes a bid, doesn't mean we're going to accept. Which we won't. We would want much MUCH more.

(unless his new contract has a ridiculous release clause, but we're not that stupid)

A year out injured and a poor year last year haven't helped him, hopefully he has a good Euro's in the next few weeks.

Even if he doesn't, I still can't see us selling him for 5 million.

Silly season init. Just like when Burnley offered an initial 2 million for Jeff Hendrick and ended up spending 10.5.

What's going on with Derby at the minute? Has the big spending come to and end and it's now time to cut their cloth?

It'll be pretty similar to last summer I imagine, one maybe two good players may have to go to give GR some funds. We all live in hope that we can shift some of the "deadwood" but who's in for them? Our top players like Ince, Hughes and Martin are going to attract interest every transfer window.

GR has "free reign" apparently, I'd still like us to hang on to our best players though.

Think we would have bid for Chris Martin again had Lambert stayed... a shame.

They've just forked out £4.5m on Wisdom mate so I doubt it.

Doubt it considering they just turned down £7.5million for Tom Ince. People have made bids for a couple of their players, not sure how you've jumped to the conclusion they are cutting their cloth.

What have Derby done to Nick Blackman? He looked a really good player at Reading but appears to have done nothing at Derby. Time for a change of scenery perhaps?

Be a great replacement for Tammy imo.

I remember Derby signing Blackman to be fair and thinking what a great signing it was. Whatever happened to him as I thought he was good?

In for Murray Wallace from Scunthorpe apparently.

Baptiste, Murray and O'Connor seems like good business on the defensive front if we get it done.

Seriously hope were looking at another midfielder in the Welsh mould though, this Harrop sounds more like a young Gallagher.

I like Blackman but he's a bit of a scapegoat here unfortunately. He came in just before we sacked Clement which didn't help. Hardly played last year due to injury too.

I imagine he's one we'll be looking to shift on.

Weirdest transfer rumour of the summer for us, but we've been linked with a South African midfielder, goes by the name of Bongani Zungu. 24 years old 6'1 so seems to be the box to box beast we need for when Sam Hutchinson's knees are bad, or maybe Carlos is thinking of moving him back to centre back. Plays for Vitoria and we like to scout around in Portugal, work permit may be an issue though. Wouldn't mind seeing Melo given a chance in their during pre season but I expect he'll end up back in Portugal.

Deniss Rakels about to sign for Lech Poznan.

This time last season I would have said he was our best striker.. Being injured pretty much all of last season and Kermorgant's form means he'll get little chance here. Does increase our need for a striker or two even more now, we only have two left, one is retiring at the end of the season and the other is out of contract.

Yet to have any transfer rumours of players in with any substance.

He looked really good if you ignore the 90 games he played shit in, yes.

Two months of great form where he scored 10 in 10 got us £3m for a player we didn't want who had 6 months left on his contract. His form had already reverted back to normal before he left.

Fair comment Madj, you would know a lot more than me. It must be that streak that I remember then as I thought he was a really tidy player when he moved.

Harsh mate. He never let us down and apart from the times he was carrying an injury or blatantly unfit, he was alright. Many would have been happy for him to stay but I was on the fence. It's only decent business IF we bring better in.
On a free, he's a half decent signing.

Think these two comments sum the lad up, so we'll either get a good solid player or an unfit injured bench warmer, can't wait :)

Surprised a Champ club's gone for him, he'll put the effort in but he's just a bit limited for this level. Was kinda worried he might've gone to rovers tbh

Prepare to be infuriated by him getting into good positions and then proving totally incapable of crossing a ball.

Wouldn't believe anything from that EFL72, no disrespect but I don't see another year at Bristol City as being good for his development, nor any other Chanpionship club! He should go to Brighton he's bound to get games there.

I totally agree Liam. While I would love to see him back at BS3, it isn't going to happen.
Newcastle wouldn't be the best move IMHO as he would have Gayle ahead of him so may have a concern over playing time. He would be guaranteed playing time at our place as he would at any Championship club.
