I saw a few messages about us escaping FFP. We haven't escaped it, it is still on going which is why we are shopping at pound land for our new signings.

I can't remember what Wolves fan was giving me a hard time about the amount we spent and now they are doing exactly the same but it is okay and fun for them. It was the devils work for us.

That's assuming that Villa can offload them all, plus McCormack, Kozak, Agbonlahor & Sanchez. It's a team that looks decent on paper but they are mostly the same players that just finished 13th in the Championship.

I'm glad it's not just me thinking that! I cannot understand why Villa are 6/1 favourites to be champions next season (before today's news). They have last season's team.

Hi Matt, are you saying QPR still have that £60M (?) fine hanging over them? That's been ongoing for a fair old while if you have.

JT said he signed for Villa because he didn't want to have to face Chelsea. You'd think he'd be a bit more optimistic on the day he signs, eh?

John Terry would be great for the Championship. He'll become a non-ferrous legend over in Birmingham. Bit like Emlyn Hughes, Paul Ince and Denis Irwin were with us. Irwin was older than a fucking hobbit when he played for us. Not as tall, mind.

When I wrote this a few weeks back, I thought Terry would sign for Birmingham, where I think he would have done a lot to push Birmingham upwards. Until they sack Redknapp after a ten match winning run or when they are 3rd or some kind of usual Brum board stupidity.

But I see at Villa a not dissimilar situation from what happened to us a few years back. They have come down with a band of PL divas (will long remember Agbonlahdickhead calling us "a local team" in a pre-season friendly not so long ago) and when results are poor, they all turn against each other and implode. In this situation, I believe JT's presence as first among equal PL legends will exacerbate the situation.

Whereas at Birmingham, JT would have been a magnet for improvement and stability. In a club forced to build upon the ashes of successive disastrous board and management failures, it feels like the only way is up.

So I think Terry has chosen the wrong club. It will be great to see someone of his class in this division, but I suspect that both Birmingham and us will have better defensive records than Villa this coming season.

It was me. And I've repeated my views in the last few days. They haven't changed. You cheated.

Where did I say it was okay and fun for us?

In fact, the rules have changed and are now assessed over three seasons. Feel free to join me in castigating Wolves **if** we are found guilty of breaking the FFP rules.

Expecting bids from Sunderland and Birmingham for Jordan Hugill.

Hope we hold firm and get a really good fee, never known a player split opinions as much as Hugill but regardless of whether people rate him, we'll have to replace our first choice striker. This Maguire is a complete unknown, Aberdeen have a bid in for May and Doyle is available to anyone who wants him.

Potentially needing three new strikers this summer.

a couple of our decent prospects being sent out on loan

Fleetwood look likely to sign Lewie Coyle on a season loan
Oldham look the most likely to get highly rated young goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell

goodluck to both

we are still working hard on 2 signings atm, hoping we aren't wasting time like we usually do

Yeah it is still lingering. They haven't made a decision yet as we are saying how unfair it is for a club to come down and then run at a championship budget. We are showing that we tried to offload the high earners etc.

Obviously we spent too much in the Premiership and we paid the price but we are working massively to be self sufficient and hit all the FFP.

As you say, the rules have changed and it is because it was unfair. Having said that, the rules were there at that time and unfair or not, we broke them so we will be getting a fine.

The fact it is still on going is a joke.

We're after Leeds GK Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

I definitely think there is a risk with the signing of terry, but I honestly think it's a great signing and just what we need. I can't see many strikers in the league giving him much hassle, but I also can't see him playing every game, and he will need resting. Risks are that he gets injured, or he does not settle in because this club is not on Chelsea's level anymore, but hopefully and looking at his career he will be professional and do the job needed. I thought blues had a chance with the redknapp factor, but other than that it's a no brainer really. Let's hope him and Bruce bang a few heads together.

Wouldn't the fact that he will miss games cause an issue then VL? It doesn't make for a settled defence WTGR if the line up is changing all the time. Imagine, for example, Baker is the man who replaces him. It won't do much for his morale if he only plays when JT can't make it?

we've also heard it all before in this under-rated league

remember when Real Madrid player Royston Drenthe was going to make us all cry? but instead made us all laugh

Terry is obviously a class signing but to think he will just dominate is a bit naïve imo

you have a point, but when I say resting I don't mean for 15-20 games. He should be our main defender along with Chester. With his age we need to look after him and be realistic. Baker is good in this league, but he won't cut it in the prem. will terry help the team? Big yes. Will he get us promotion? Don't know.

I thought the fine was because you overspent by so much to reach the Prem? Once you were in the Prem, the fine didn't apply but, when you came back down, WHAM??

From memory (and mine is terrible so if someone wants to correct me then feel free), when we went up originally we were fine spending wise. But then we spent so much in the Premier League on wages, when we got relegated we were spending so much on wages. Plus, we still signed some players like Austin but did not pay mega money and we had sold. But the wages fucked us.

Well also the point is you said I said it was OK. I never did say that. Always feel it's best to play by the rules.

I originally said I did not know who said it. I can't be arsed to read back through to see what your thoughts are but I will go with what you are saying.

What I objected to was you saying the above (in red bold). I didn't say it was "okay and fun" for us. If you look back just one page, you will see me criticise Wolves spend **if** it breaches FFP.

I remember, not by your good self, a fair bit of gloating on the old forum that the R's had pulled a fast one. As I remember it, the PL and the EFL are governed separately so the fine was lodged, once you were relegated. by the EFL? That would point to breaking the rules while in the EFL wouldn't it?
What's the current situation then as this was a massive fine and a long time ago now?

What will become of Tommy Elphick at Villa now I wonder? :( Too good to not get a game somewhere at this level.

Big 'IF' WTGR VL. He hardly played last season but it remains to be seen how often he actually plays. If it works, fair play but I'm sure you understand our scepticism.

definitely mate. It is a risk as I've stated in my previous post, but it's a risk worth taking imo. He will play majority of games I hope, maybe 3/4 of the season. We shall see.
