Does anyone ever stay around forever? We don't go up, we sell, or maybe we don't, whats the problem? I remember people saying on here we didn't have a chance of keeping Costa this summer either...

We are a toy? Really? That is news to me... How are we a toy as much as any other club in the league? Ridiculous comment.

Every team in the league pays wages, and we have one of the richest owners in world football, I appreciate your concern but we can afford the wages we spend. Also where is your evidence that we won't recoup any of the money... providing we do sell?

I'm thriving off some of the bitterness here.

You were as bitter as anyone when it came to Derby. Hypocrisy at its best :brill:

This Kevin McDonald to Forest thing isn't going away and seems to be getting closer and closer. Big money, but are crying out for a proper holding midfielder. We pulled out of a deal to sign Gary Gardner last week pretty late in the day so something is up.

Can't be unhappy with that M, McDonald looks twice the player Gardner does from what I've seen of them both.

Not really, I was concerned that they were overspending, sure although now it looks like they've sold a few big players under Rowett to cut their cloth, so to speak. They haven't failed FFP, fair play to them.

I can understand your jealousy though, I would be too.

Yeah he looks a serious player. We haven't had a quality DM for years so would welcome him.

 Mark it's not jealousy, just an observation. I wouldn't trust LJ with 20 quid let alone 20 million. And let's face it, our squad could be worth 20 million and yours 20 quid and you'd still fucking beat us.

Warbz just confirmed 2 signings in the next 24-48 hours on Talksport.

Be amazed if one isn't McDonald to be honest. Also would like another left back and that should see us set squad wise for the season.

Would see us as:

Smith

Mancienne-Worral-Traore

Darikwa-McDonald-Vaughan-new LWB

Brereton-Murphy-McKay

Looks alright to me, should have more than enough to keep away from that horrible trapdoor anyhow.

I'm more jealous of Preston and Brentford than I am Wolves - they have proper recruitment strategies that are improving the club year upon year, Wolves are just chucking money at any old fucker Mendes touts and it's just as likely to end in tears as it is being success.

We shall certainly see. Everyone tipping us to be shit, some even saying we will down with Champions League quality players. I'll be looking forward to this.

I think you'll go up, would be surprised if you came lower than 10th. I hope you get fined to hell and back for breaking the FFP rules though.

Not bitter, delighted with everything about Brentford a team the moment. Just think when a club spends that much money it screws over everyone else. Fewer promotion places left, less return on anyone else's investment. Shouldn't be allowed IMO.

You said this last year though mate and look how it ended up. I'm not tipping you to "be shit" I just don't think you'll go up.

It's hard to tell, I don't know anything about most the players you've signed and we'll certainly find out.

You can have a team of fantastic individuals but if they're no use as collective unit you won't get very far in this league. Look at Villa last season - Kodjia was about the only one signed from another Championship club that succeeded and they were mopping up sides best players. Lansbury, Hourihane, Hogan, Bree etc - none of them made much of an impact. I've probably missed a few others as well but just off the top of my head.

I'm not jealous, I'm interested - I'm not going to be jealous of a team chucking around an owner's money because it doesn't guarantee anything.

In fairness to Hogan, Lansbury, Hourihane and Bree all came in January and didn't have time to settle or make an impact, a January that busy will fuck the rhythm of most teams. Regarding others you missed... McBigmac and Elphick were the main ones who failed. Kodjia, Chester, Adomah and Jedi of the summer signings did well though.

You see this annoys me, we haven't broken FFP rules, and there isn't any evidence that we will do so. It's a thrown around comment that has been used for years against bigger spenders (guilty of that myself).

If and when we do break FFP rules, then we deserve whatever punishment is handed to us.

Last year was more of a transition year. Many reasons for it, the main one being that we had a clueless manager who signed 13 players in a month without any pre season behind them.

The problem is also most players don't know anything about our signings, and that is fair enough since most aren't based in England (Costa, Jota, Neves, etc). I don't mind though, I enjoy the underdog tag. Sorry in advance if I turn out to be a smug fucker within the next 9 months

What Champions League quality players do Wolves have?

Ruben Neves, Diogo Jota and Willy Boly all starred for Porto in the CL last season for starters. Costa and Cavaliero played in it for Monaco the season before.

Can I apologize in advance for taking the piss if it doesn't go to plan? No hard feelings?

From a guy on Sunderland's forum who claims to be pals with Hugill.

I have to say, i'm not that bothered about this one, I like Hugill, he gives 100% and his goal return last season was good but I think Barkhuizen and Robinson have enough goals in them and Sean Maguire looks really promising. This money should allows us to strengthen the spine of the team as a new centre back and another presence in central midfield is needed.

There isn't any evidence? How about the massive transfer fees and wages you are throwing around?

Given you weren't mega profitable before, there isn't anyway that level of spending can be funded, unless you sell the entire squad next summer?

The issue here is that it's calculated over a three year rolling period, so you haven't technically broken the rules until the 3 year period is up, even if there is no possible way for you to come back under budget.

Anyway, good luck to you guys :) I'll look forward to seeing you down GP this season.

I feel like you've answered your own question. Under previous regimes of FFP where it was calculated anually, I have no doubt we would have failed based on the last 12 months of spending. Now FFP is based on 3 years worth of business, there isn't anything to go off that we will fail. If we go up then that alone makes all of our purchases worthwhile. If we don't go up, then personally I think we will take a similar approach to Derby, and sell a few to even out the turnover. One thing I am sure on is that some of these players we have signed will one day make some decent money for this club.

Hi mate. There are some rumours that we're trying to sign Caryol on loan. Any news your end? Is he in your manager's plans?

Fulham have signed Aboubakar Kamara, a striker who scored 11 goals in 29 games in Ligue 2 last season.

They haven't broken anything yet, have they? If they sell any of those players for an increase on the fees they've paid, then they should theoretically be in profit.

If Benham spent £50m this summer and then sold those fir £60m next summer, then that works within FFP (salaries dependent of course).

It's certainly a bold strategy which increases the chance of it all ending in tears, but given current transfer market dynamics, the Wolves' owners must be pretty confident of recouping most of these fees they're currently paying out.
