Sawyers to WBA is gathering a bit of momentum, new rumours are that they've bid £9.5m in a combined bid for Sawyers and Woods.

I think if they can push that to £12m we'd deal. Would hate to lose them, but think we'd be ok, and trust the club to get decent replacements / those already at the club to step up.

We've blown our transfer record out the water by spending £13m on Joao Carvalho. Don't know anything about him but hard not to be excited. We've also signed his teammate Diogo Goncalves, who is meant to be a serious talent, on loan with a view to a £15m permanent...

A lot of chat from Portuguese press, who broke the above news, that we are also close to signing Benfica's number 1, Bruno Varela, for something similar to the above fees. Insane.

Domestically, we are close to signing Grabban and want one other Championship striker (Oliveira being touted)

Probably just as much of a risk as spending 5 million on Jacob Butterfield. 10 million on Scott Hogan. 10 mill on Jordan Rhodes etc. This leagues full of crazy transfers.

He's so good though, I'd like him here if they went down but after the Tomlin saga he's the sort of player Johnson wouldn't ever sign, he'll go for a workman like Marley Watkins.

Not a bad shout back in February.

Another bid to Brentford for their lad Mepham, we tried for about 8m in Jan and have now upped it to 10m according to BBC.

Forest and Grabban seems to be bubbling away, hopefully a permanent deal, which will help the kitty.

It's safe to say that Watkins really struggled here. We had many players that struggled early on but you could see why they were good players. Mario Vrancic for example struggled with the pace and physicality of the Championship but when he had time on the ball you could see that there was a hell of a player in there and in the last third of the season he really took a step and started to look like an integral player. But with Watkins I can't tell you what he does well. He's not fast, his passing is ok, his crossing is poor, his finishing is poor, his positioning is ok. He just drifted through games not effecting them in the slightest and not even having a moment where you could say 'ok I know what they saw in him'. He's not quick enough to be a winger and he's not influential enough to be a lone front man. I honestly can't think of one attribute of his that I can say something positive about.

Is Mepham really worth £10m+? He has played 21 games for a team in the 2nd tier. Transfer fees are obscene these days.
