It’s ok if he’s a back up but wasn’t that impressed last time we had him (although from his comments NJ has a different view!) and he’s done ok at best since leaving us but by and large we get recruitment right so will try to put any bias against him to one side.

You’ve got to feel a bit for Isted if Macey is the back up. Could have bumped Isted up to second choice with an established keeper as the number 1 whilst bringing in a younger keeper to be the number 3, as we saw last season with the way emergency loans work that number 3 is realistically not going to play.

Doesn’t feel like Isted is viewed as anything other than an absolute last resort. Still, worse gigs to get than an established 3rd choice keeer at a championship club I guess.
And if I was Isted, I’d be a bit pissed off with that because he needs to start making a career for himself. I still haven’t changed my mind despite his performances when called upon last year, that he’s no better than a L2 goalkeeper at best.

He didn’t have to do much in his 1.5 appearances last season so it’s tough to say. The fact we consistently bring in other keepers over him probably shows that though. The emergency loan system worked against him last season though

Kioso has gone to Rotherham on a permanent deal. Suspect it’s right for all parties, realistically wasn’t going to get in over Bree this season but clearly a promising player who wants to play first team minutes. Getting championship football as well.

Leaves us without a backup for Bree and hitch did become a little bit of an issue at times but we might just view Onyedinma as one who can come in and play RWB if needed

He joins quite a few Irish lads here so he will feel right at home.
He is a good age with plenty of time to improve, it was undisclosed as usual so no idea if we have begged a bargain.

It does however lift the mood after yesterday's Smith and Icky departures.

Standard 'insert three Championship teams' link to Ravel Morrison today. He was pretty good for Derby last season so I wouldn't be upset, but I doubt there is anything in it.

No idea on fee he’s only got a year left of his contract but I suspect he would have had a few other clubs interested after some good loans in league 1. MK Dons would have been after him I suspect.

I liked him, he’ll be a fan favourite I think as he loves a strong tackle and he gets into it with the crowd and stuff. Attacking wise he was a bit limited compared to what we needed and compared to Bree but I suspect that would improve.

Linked to David Cornell as our backup keeper. Was the Peterborough No.1 last season I think. Cheap and happy to sit on the bench, but not sure I'd want him between the sticks for a sustained period.

Without wishing to tempt them, I’m a little surprised there hasn’t been a single rumour about Adebayo yet this summer. Perhaps his hamstring injury that kept him out of the playoffs has helped us there.

Reason it occurred to me is that we were linked by some less reputable sources with Tyreece Simpson from Ipswich. Had a good loan at Swindon last year but seems to want out of Ipswich. From the highlights I saw he seems similar sort of player to Adebayo.

Seems like a few others at this level are taking at look at him (Huddersfield, Boro etc) so that may well count us out of it, especially with Woodrow signing. But with our number 9 shirt presently vacant found it a little bit intriguing.

Ballard, Twine, & McNally would seem really good business on paper for the Dingles. Hardwood-Bellis on loan too, perhaps even Liam Delap.

From the little I've seen of Twine, he won't have a problem stepping up.

Thank goodness for parachute payments once again. Note that £4M is half of what teams at this level without parachute payments get in TV money every season.

I thought the intent of PPs were to cushion ("parachute") the blow of losing Premier League finances, not to go out and blow everyone else out of the water with transfer fees?

Big fan of Kioso, horrible compressed video quality but expect plenty of this

He did show real potential for me last season. Curious of the fee if anyone has any intel. I’d be surprised if it was more than say £400K.

I'd be amazed if we paid anywhere near £400,000 that's our record fee lol.

You are quite correct in what you say but any man and his dog except one could see Twine was quality last season at Newport. Anyone from the Championship could have signed him for the 300k MK signed him.
Plenty of players in lge1 who you can sign before a bigger club than Luton will take them. Dapo from us Scully from Lincoln or Brannigan from Oxford are players every bit as good as twine but will cost less

Nick Pope went for 10 million and a few others left to free up wages etc but then there has been talk of Burnley really being in financial trouble although maybe that is more if they don't go back up.

It's probably somewhere in the middle - they can still afford small fees but have to be careful to not go OTT and I suspect promotion is a must in 2/3 seasons as it will be for us.

Norwich seem to look after themselves ok however.

Fair point. Just the central theme really - you have a club signing up the two hottest free agents and paying them probably a combined £2M a year just in wages.

Its not as simple as that for me.

Burnley riddled themselves with loan debt which has just been wiped out by parachute payments, leaving them on an even keel. Now they can sell players for tens of millions, reinvest most of it, and attempt to piss the division.

Without parachute money these player sales would have had to pay for their mismanagement, not strengthen them.

Not as simple as that. If they had to pay back 65m, Parachute payment covers 43m. So they are 22m short still. If the entire parachute payment has gone already then they are down basic income of around 10m. They spent around 130 on wages etc last season. That is an extra 120m and then 22m on top to get back if they don't want to post catastrophic losses that the owners can't afford so will only get added as debt against the club which basically guarantees administration in the not too distant future.

Yeah there will be relegation wage drops but still nowhere near what is required. 10m for Pope when a lot of that gets paid in installments won't even scratch the surface.

Weghorst, Cornet, Collins, and McNeil still to go yet. They've already spent £4m of the Pope money, and were ready to spend another £2m on Ballard.

They've mismanaged their finances trying to cling on to Prem football and parachute money has pretty much rewarded them for it. There are no consequences for Prem clubs.

They seem to be set up like the Glazers at Man U .

Debt against the club which builds up but still spend money .

Of course you feel Burnley will have to go back up or might find themselves in trouble.

Luton turned down more money from Milton Keynes because the club will not do business with them.
Source? As we did business with them last season.
During his time at Luton the 22-year-old was loaned out to Bolton Wanderers, Northampton Town and former club Milton Keynes last season, but recalled last season in January for the second half of Luton’s Championship campaign.

And we signed Sam Nombe on loan from them season before last too. So we’ve done business with them both ways in terms of loans

Ben Woodburn on trial, I'm hoping it's purely a favour for fitness, as Marsh knows him from Liverpool and his agent is David Eyres.

The Championship seems way above him.

We've terminated Tom Bayliss' contract at his own request after we transfer listed him. Set to sign for Shrewsbury.

Probably the worst business we've ever done.
