SUMMER CONFIRMED TRANSFERS 2022 - w/e 3 Jun 2022

Freddie Ladapo - Rotherham United to Ipswich Town - Free transfer
Dominic Ball - Queens Park Rangers to Ipswich Town - Free transfer
Kian Harratt - Huddersfield Town to Bradford City - Loan
Chanka Zimba - Cardiff City to Newport County - Loan

Considering the short post season, only 4 transfers in 7 days and all going outbound to lower divisions. I think most players are too busy sunning themselves in Mykonos at the moment.

Rumoured to have enquired about Freddie Woodman on loan. Would be very happy with that, top keeper at this level. Knows our assistant, Mike Marsh from his Swansea days.

Xavi Quintilla, Spanish LWB, Ex-Norwich loanee has also done the rounds.

Loads of rumours but nothing through the door.

Yep been quiet overall I think. For us i assume as we had the playoffs extending the season but feels like overall not much happening at this level yet.

Dont know if impacts football that much but short week too I guess with the bank holidays? Guess solicitors/agents who draw up contracts might not have been working too much this week perhaps.

Both Luton and Preston are in for Antonios Papadoupoulos from Borussia Dortmund - in a deal worth €1.5M.
Ridsdale has denied our interest so I imagine this one is horseshit

Posted this on the L1 forum - don't know if there are any Huddersfield fans on here:

Will Boyle has signed for Huddersfield. Am massively intrigued to see how he handles the step up. He's not that quick, can be a bit Bambi on ice when having to play out from the back, but is bloody World class in the air. My fave Cheltenham player over the last 5 years.

Huddersfield did well with those sorts of signings last season to be fair, he sounds quite similar to Matty Pearson who is already there and did well last season for them

Hudds know what they're doing recruitment wise, I think he'll be fine.

West Brom looking at James Bree apparently. The reporting around from their local press is all wrong saying he’s a free agent so that brings some doubt as to the veracity of it. Good player who improved a lot over his time here but If we could get a good fee for him 3/4 million I’d think about it considering there’s a lot of decent young right backs around in leagues 1 and 2 to reinvest in

If WBA are going to offer £4M, for me he can go. I think it would be a good deal for all parties.

Wouldn’t be impressed with Matt Macey but wouldn’t be surprised if he’s going to be the backup as Shea is going to be out for the whole of next season.

Lol. Read that 'good fee' as three quarters of a million.

I'm fully swerving our forum until at least the season starts, it's just a dire place during summer. Crap rumours, lazy guesswork, people losing their rag because we're not signing a player an hour, all mixed in with awful in-jokes that have been repeated for ten years.

So with James Justin starting for England a few days ago, we may have got an extra payment from that transfer. I saw £1.5M mentioned but I'm doubtful if that's accurate.

We have two verbal agreements in place for players, supposedly their medicals are today or tomorrow. Presume they've been on holiday and one of them might be Andre Gray.

We're also in for a third player who needs a work permit.

Hopefully we'll see some movement by the weekend, the club are really working hard to stop any leaks these days it seems.

Clubs may actually get signings tied up quicker if they did their medicals in Mykonos.

Ipswich, Charlton and Portsmouth want to sign Danny Hylton. Fine servant, but time to go.

Peter O'Rourke saying we're in talks to bring in Freddie Woodman on loan, with a view to a permanent deal.

Josh Oluwayemi on a free from Spurs has also been mentioned as second choice, 21yr old Nigerian keeper. Never heard of him but supposedly Jose Mourinho was a big fan and there has been talk of him going to Roma.

It'd be nice to get the keeper situation sorted early.

Bristol City signed Kane Wilson. League 2 player of the year i think from right back which feels like it takes some doing!

Think that would be their 3rd signing so far alongside Naismith and Sykes, all feel like decent moves to me in terms of player and outlay on them (believe all 3 are frees but assume there will be some tribunal/development fee required for Wilson and i guess being quite sort after id assume a decent wage). Feels like only Bristol City and Cardiff have been active so far this summer which i guess makes sense as there seasons were finished probably before any others in the division this season so had more time to plan for it.

Maybe im just getting itchy feet for movement by us but does all feel rather quiet across the entire league so far.

Certainly sounds that Bristol are trying to take a leaf out of the Luton book in terms of recruitment. It’s a big ask to go right from League 2 to the Championship and have an immediate impact, especially as a defender, although Wilson sounds in the mould of a Bree or Stacey.

You’re right though, there’s only been about 9-10 signings in the last 14 days in the whole division. Nature of the league - many will be negotiating with Premier League players and their season only finished about 3 weeks ago. And the transfer window only opened on Thursday.

Obviously the FGR connection didn't work with that last one for us.

Mind you probably too busy trying to work out which Udinese players to get.

Freddie Woodman & Cyrus Christie would be a great start to the window if we get those deals over the line.

Lancs Live reporting that we're waiting on a decision in terms of a Visa exception for Xavi Quintilla.

LWB from Villarreal who was on loan at Norwich when they were promoted the season before last, was at Leganes last season. Imagine he has been identified by the recruitment agency we're working with.

Also in advanced talks to sign Andre Gray who is now back in the country.

Gray is bound to score v us then and he’ll probably love it too !

TBF not a bad striker at this level and not his fault we paid silly money for him .

I'd be very happy with him as a rotation option, an upgrade on Ched Evans.

Still no sign of our first signing though, tedious.

Yep all remarkably quiet here too. Not even any word on if Snodgrass or Hylton have signed there contract offers, would have thought we’d want that sorted so we can look at other options if they don’t want to come back before pre season kicks off.

Not concerned or anything, just bored!

Im a little saddened we even offered them contracts. Not because they are bad, but id hope we would have had visions of improvement. Snods was brought in short term to cover a horrendous run of injuries that will/should have cleared up and Hylts should be fourth or fifth choice. Doesnt sound too good behind the scenes to be wanting to keep them?

I get the feeling both might be “good characters” to have around. Snodgrass I actually found quite impressive and Hylton showed he can do a job and wouldn’t be an expensive option so perhaps we can invest elsewhere for a better spread of resources.

Do kind of agree though, could do with getting a bit more youthful

Cardiff have been busy, although certainly seems a bit scattergun

Mahlon Romeo (Millwall)
Vontae Daley-Campbell (Leicester)
Callum O'Dowda (Bristol City)
Jamilu Collins (SC Paderborn)
Ollie Tanner (Lewes)
Jak Alnwick (St Mirren)
Ebou Adams (Forest Green)

I'm guessing they lost/ let go a lot of players this summer.

Deal agreed with Newcastle and Freddie Woodman, permanent deal I think. Medical early next week, so still unlikely to have anything announced before Monday.

Although I guess that means someone can still swoop in and offer him more. Heard Birmingham are interested but can't say i'm too worried about competing with them right now.
