Cameron Brannagan at Oxford has been mentioned.
Don't think we need him but Blackpool have made desperate attempts to sign him so that would be funny.

Assume we would be offloading a midfielder if there's any truth in that one.

Mikey O'Neill signs a 3 year pro contract.

Only 17 but looks like he's more than ready for Championship football, glided through his cameos so far.

Very excited about this guy.

I see Panutche Camara is available for transfer from Plymouth. We probably arent thinking quite about summer transfer business yet so i guess ill start the rumour mill on that one and say he is one it wouldnt surprise me if we take a long look at.

Think he will have plenty of suitors at this level so will come down to whether we can compete with that but we were linked with him when he was at Crawley and he is exactly the type of midfield player we will be looking to get in. High energy box to box type as i understand it.

We'll be an obvious link for Camara but we don't need a player like him when we have McCann.

I saw him against Mk Dons for Plymouth and technically, he didn't look up to much, i'm not sure he'd impress at this level. You need more than an engine.

Bersant Celina from FC Dijon linked, just been on his second loan spell at Ipswich, was at Swansea for a while. Still only 25.

We need another attacking mid option.

Linked to Bazunu which seems very, very unlikely.

Anthony Hartigan at Wimbledon is also another name thrown into the hat. Seems like we want competition for Whiteman in that anchor role.

Already a few signings being made, I see Cardiff signed Ebou Adams and Bristol City Mark Sykes from FGR and Oxford respectively. Such a short preseason this year so not that surprising I guess.

Jones sounded like he knew who he wanted last night but I wonder how far behind we will be compared to others. Whoever loses (or indeed wins!) the playoff final is going to be really behind the eight ball, tough to plan what you are doing recruitment wise.

Zidane Iqbal from Man Utd has been in the building. Attacking mid.

One of three clubs linked with Ryan Albeiosu at Arsenal too. RWB.

Us and Preston both after Ingram. Hull activated a one year option in his deal, I assume so they can get a fee for him.

Thought he was kind of fine but nothing special but obviously only played limited time and one of those was a a bit of anomalous result. If you look at keeping stats and analytics he actually comes out extremely positively, so as we are heavily into that sort of thing I can see why we are after him

We need 3 keepers, he'd be ok as a bench keeper, but no chance number 1.

Presuming we won't get Iversen back so hoping we can carry on our loan streak, Trafford from City could be a shout. Too much Prem interest in Bazunu.

Sounds like we're bringing in 35yr old Lee Peltier on a one year deal. I know he can cover pretty much every position across the backline, and Wilder spoke well of him this season... But it's not the sort of signing I had in mind.

Kal Naismith has joined Bristol City on a three year deal. In his thirties and being given a deal of that length - bit of a gamble and I'd assume he's probably getting a big pay increase.

From a footballing perspective, you're the vice captain getting to a play off semi final and you join a club that have been rubbish for years. Ok then...

Not sure why we only gave him an 18 month contract and let it run out considering we were fortunate to take him for nothing when Wigan collapsed.

That seemed to come a bit from nowhere, didnt see any rumours about it.

Very sad to see him go, leaves a big hole in the side, was really important as a left sided centre half in the system and his ability to both ball carry from the back and make those big switches across to Bree as well as being a good defender were kind of unique and probably came from his career as a more attack minded player elsewhere. A great leader as well it seemed to me.

Dont hold any grudge to him at all going to Bristol City, you would think a decent pay rise and a 3 year deal. Good for him. If anything shows how well we did last season in my view.

Mendez Laing to Wigan apparently.

Three Champ clubs want Berahino, seems a waste of a year for us, took a while getting him at the level for us and he had a good spell in the late months of the season then is not retained.

Sounds like a half decent signing.

For free and if not on masses of money, i agree even if its a longish contract for his age its good value. He took some time to settle with us, but was being used at LB and they were expected to push on a lot and defend. A bit much for him all game. We switched to a back 3 and found his sweet spot.

If he’s being brought into play centre half, which would make sense given the quality season he has just had there, it really needs to be in a 3 imo. He is really kind of unique sort of player for that role due to his past career in more attacking areas, he’s comfortable on the ball and he has a great switch of play on him that we used heavily in build up to get Bree, free on the right handside. This was pretty much standard build up most of the time toward the season end.

He has a tendency to dive in and over commit at times which in a 2 would be exploited and even in a 3 sometimes got exposed. I know Belize will not agree but in some respects I think Bells defensive quality at LWB helped cover some potential issues he had in his defensive game, as Bell often came inside to help, although it would be a step too far to say it’s a weakness per se, he’s still a good defender just prone to the mistake at times and over committing - goal against Huddersfield in the home leg of the playoff semi is a good example I can immediately think of. There are a few others also

It will be a big loss for us and may even necessitate a switch to 433 for us as I think his role in build up will be very tough to replace.

I do agree. Bell def covered Kals defensive weakness esp when turned by pace or a channel ball. My beef, or more accurately problem with Bell is going forward with passing, run timing and crossing. I think Bell is Kals perfect replacement if we get an attack minded lwb

I try not to read into these first signing interviews as they are generally sycophantic, but some really weird comments from Kal. He’s joining a club that has been battling relegation since we got promoted from L1. A team that we’ve beaten 4 times out of 6 in the last three seasons.

According to him Nigel Pearson is the best manager in the division… with his 27% win ratio. He’ll be high up on the sack race come the autumn if he’s not too careful. A team that also wants to “get promoted” and even the interviewer said “it’s all about finishing higher up in the division.” Again Kal, you’ve just played in a play off semi final team…

Money is money and fair play for taking the wedge on offer, but some of these comments are quite odd. It sounds he was out the door the Tuesday after the play off loss and there was never any prospect he was signing for anyone else.

You're overthinking it.

It's purely modern day football.

Mate, with respect but you’re punching well above your weight as it is. What did you expect after failing in the play offs and having most of your players out of contract?

Dog eats dog in this division. Even your Sonny Bradley was rumoured to be going to Ipswich ffs

With respect, both he and you are talking bollocks on this subject. The only players in this boat are Luke Berry, Danny Hylton and Robert Snodgrass. That's it. Berry I'd be frustrated to lose. Snodgrass has great quality but is getting another year older and can't do more than 35 games a season. Hylton shouldn't have been given a new deal in 2020.

Now in Summer 2023, we will have a bunch of players out of contract - maybe up to 20 players in that boat.

As for punching above our weight - indeed. Doesn't mean we don't have the right to compete in light of teams like, Bristol City who are losing £400,000 a week and have FFP breathing down their necks. And spending over 200% of turnover on wages?

As for Sonny Bradley going to Ipswich last summer - if a team in L1 wants to offer £8-10K a week for a player, good luck to them. We won't be doing that.
