Emiliano Martinez about to sign for Wolves on a season loan. What's he like Rotherham fans?

Played well during his loan spell towards the end of the season.
We all hoped to sign him on again but according to SE he couldn't get a straight answer from Arsenal so went with Roos from Derby because he became available first.

Probably a lot cheaper too.

Cheers mate, hoping he can challenge Ikeme to the number 1 shirt. I'm not really comfortable with Ikeme to be honest, and I doubt Martinez has come here to warm our bench.

Emi is a decent keeper, i liked him at ours but you always felt there was a mistake in him, he kept Kirkland out of our team at times.

Hope Akpan is off to Blackburn on loan.

It will be very amusing to see him and Guthrie potentially in midfield for them.

A midfield partnership of Guthrie and Akpan and they expect to stay in the Championship?

Neither could get into our midfield 3 last season when we were 19th in the league.

Yet you signed both when you were a Premier League club

We didn't make any good signings in the Premier League... So I don't know what your point is. I don't think any players we signed that season were PL standard other than Carrico who only played 3 times before winning the Europa League twice.

Guthrie has attitude and fitness problems which is the main reason he didn't make it. He is also fairly easy to stop if you sort out your tactics. Akpan we bought as a 21 year old cheap punt as he was doing well in League One. He's just never improved in the past 2.5 years.

We only paid £300k combined for them both too, so they can't have been that good.

Noe Baba to Birmingham, looks promising from what I've seen of him. On YouTube, that is.

Guthrie played well Saturday. I'm thinking Blackburn could have beaten Crawley in a pre-season friendly.

He played very well against you in 2013/14 too. But he is easy to stop if you put a man on him. Doesn't even need to be on him, near him is enough as Guthrie isn't very mobile. Sounds like you didn't do it again.

Some noises you are back in for Jota to replace him. Different kind of player so would mean a change to your system I'd imagine
I doubt we'd change our system soon as we have about 3 that we are looking to use this season and the players are being told to fit around the system (or selected) rather than building it around a player.

Not saying you'd build a system around Jota, but I can't really see where he'd fit into your team if he is to replace Hughes.

Fair enough mate, you know them better than I do

Shall we just relegate Nottingham Forest now?

It's almost nailed on with Freedman in charge anyway..

Derby and Boro should be ashamed of ourselves making teams push up prices and paying silly wages which means that clubs like forest have to sell to go to them.....oh wait....
