Hey Jimmy:

Saints are keen on signing Rayo Vallecano striker Alberto Bueno on a free transfer this summer, according to the Daily Mirror.

The 26-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season, with Inter Milan and Wolfsburg also said to be interested in him.

The Mirror claims that Saints manager Ronald Koeman has made signing a new striker a priority, due to Graziano Pelle's run of 11 Premier League games without a goal.

Former Real Madrid player Bueno, who had a loan spell at Derby in the 2010-11 season and has been capped at under-21 level by Spain, has scored 12 goals in La Liga this season.

Four of those came in his last outing - a 4-2 home win for Rayo against Levante on February 28.

KINDER!

He's a good player, he just seemed to be allergic to the cold weather. Barely saw anything from him during the Winter months.

ANYWAY...

The Sun are talking bollocks this morning. They say we're going to sign Jordan Rhodes on loan if Blackburn go out of the FA Cup. They also say we're after Matt Jarvis, and will pick up the combined 75k a week wages. :fl:

I would like to think Matt Jarvis would go to us if anywhere on loan, but sadly I wouldn't be surprised to see him go to Derby. Blackburn have a huge debt too, surely in the summer they'll need to have a fire sale just to keep alfoat. Think Jordan Rhodes might go to someone like Villa.

Alan Nixon seems quite insistent that he'll join on loan if Blackburn go out of the Cup. Other Top 9 clubs interested, but we're the only ones willing to pay his full wages. View to a permanent move being discussed. £6-7m

I can't see it. He's been right a lot before, but no.

Would love to see Jordan Rhodes back here, but absolutely Zero chance of happening, shame we couldn't put together the deal for the permanent deal before he joined Huddersfield in the first place!

Well even if the link is true, they've got themselves a replay. He didn't come off the bench today mind.

Ince, Lingaard, Bent, Thorne and now potentially Rhodes and Jarvis?

When you balls up again I don't want to hear a single word about big spending Forest underachieving!

If we lose in the play offs again I wouldn't say it's underachieving. Underachieving would be finishing outside the playoffs for me. If you have to take the PO route then it is what it is, a complete lottery. A whole season's worth of work resting on 3 unforgiving matches, I'm not gonna preach about it as we both know how cruel they can be.

I'm sure Brighton and Wigan fans had higher hopes than fighting off relegation after finishing in the play offs last year. Forest will be disappointed after being crowned champs in September, Cardiff/Reading/Bolton won't be happy with where they are. It's a tough old league and you can't take anything for granted no matter how much money you spend. We've had a good year, there or thereabouts for the most part and we're still in the running going into the last 10 games, can't ask for more than that.

It may look like it from the outside but I wouldn't say we are underachieving. Disappointed, but really aren't too far off where we should be. Beginning of the season I expected 13th/14th and we could still quite easily finish there.

Lost nearly £10m worth of "talent" in the transfer window, almost entered administration which had it happened would certainly have relegated us. So i'll take wherever we finish, our second best cup run in our history from this season, a poor season but they can't all be good.

This season has and always would have been a transition season, sit back, don't get relegated and see what happens. We'll have a massive clearout and influx this Summer, the like of which we probably haven't seen for 10 years.

That's a situation every club goes through at some point now and again, and to me there's something exciting about it. Lots of new players to get to know, some of which will come good and others won't make the grade, and it's fun to try and predict who will fall into which camp (and get it hopelessly wrong). In Reading's case I'd imagine there will be a few youth players blooded in as well which is always interesting. The first season after a rebuild is totally unpredictable as well.

As for Rhodes and Derby, well obviously a deadly player at this level on his day. I know Derby have some injuries but I wouldn't say attacking is really their weakness... they're scoring goals. Rhodes won't help them defend in stoppage time. I guess you could argue he might be worth an extra goal in a game which means you don't have to defend..but we know that's not how football usually works.

It would be nice to have the financial power to even consider bringing in talent like that half way through the season, most clubs cant.

Looks like it's a fight between ourselves and Norwich for Rhodes with Norwich being reported as "more appealing" to him.

Can we have him please? Be decent to have an actual striker this weekend against you. I know Grabban is out for a couple of weeks but surely Norwich don't need another striker?

Nixon saying it's more appealing as he's more likely to play. Why? They have Jerome and Hooper.

Grabban's probably out for the season and I don't think Jerome or Hooper really suit the way that Neil wants us to be playing.

WE ARE FRONT RUNNERS FOR RHODES

Ridiculous story but we seem to have blown the other two out of the water with our offer. Nixon says it is a ''brilliant'' method of bypassing FFP.

Strange timing as we aren't going to go up and this will just be more money spent. Sounds like we are doing a player swap though, probably Pato.

Still think this won't go through and won't lose any sleep, but it's still quite exciting.

This embargo is a farce.

Definitely agree with this.

Why are Blackburn selling anyway? Purely financial reasons?

The annoying thing is, they aren't cheating the rules, the rules are just a fucking joke. An embargo should be exactly that, not a fucking one-in-one-out policy. The FA/FL/whoever the fuck implements it are pathetic

Parachute money ending soon, Venky's probably want to recoup the money, he's supposedly on mental wages and he cost them £8m.

Not sustainable without that Prem money unless you're getting massive gates.

He's on 40k a week.

Would rather he went to Forest, if he doesn't come here. Forest have a few of the big hitters to play, and if they can keep beating them for us it would be much appreciated.

Finding a loophole in the embargo though, shows how farcical the whole thing is.

No wonder he hasn't pushed more for a move to the Premier League as he'll struggle to find a Prem club that'll match those wages for him.

Apparently we are giving them 2 of our players (not sure who, probably Paterson and someone else) who are on about 30k combined. We then foot the 10k difference.

They give us Rhodes on 40k.

If we go up, we then break our transfer record on him.

The difference is, we will agree to that, whereas Norwich and Derby won't.

Venky's want to sell him due to financial reasons and this looks like their best option.

The only issue is, we aren't going up. But then he has got himself 10 matches to put himself in the shop window which he wouldn't do on a bench at Ewood Park

So, actually seems to be no financial risk at all. We don't go up we don't buy him. We do go up then sign him. God knows we need a striker and if we already have one of the best from the Championship coming in then happy days.
