I've lost all hope
I'm getting that way. Struggling to see the point of it anymore. Even if we get there, I don't think I'd want to stay there and become a club like Stoke or Crystal Palace who just never do anything. Getting more and more fed up with it.

Might just be a function of supporting the club I do, but I’ve never thought it was easier than it is now for smaller clubs to compete. The financial gap may be wider, but for me the gaps on the field are narrowing.

Plus we’ve been playing really good football the past few years, which really helps.

I don’t watch much PL football anymore though.

I think I speak for most supporters at this level in their admiration of Brentford and the way they go about things.

It just shows that scouting and coaching is the biggest issue in the modern game, not the money. I mentioned it in another post before, but in the same year less than a month apart - Kante and Bradley Johnson cost the same. The wages, if anything, would have been in favour of Johnson.

We signed Jozefzoon from your lot and it takes literally seconds to see his ability. It’s really not difficult - well in my opinion it isn’t.

No surprise Brentford do well, consistently signing quality players and playing them in a suitable system.

Might not surprise you to learn that we almost signed Kante before Leicester did. He's the big 'one that got away' for our DoFs, him and a striker called Haller who now plays in the Bundesliga. Had a fee agreed for Kante but couldn't get a deal done, and 6 months later or so he signed for Leicester.

I love the way we go about things. No doubting that we would have been able to do as well as we have without Benham investing so much in us in the early years. But the last 18-24 months we've been breaking even, which is kind of insane given our turnover outside of player trading is Bottom 3 for this league. Without player trading, we'd be making huge losses.

Agree with others though - I want us to get to the PL so we can show it can be done, and we can fund the club for the next 10 years, but then get relegated almost immediately. This league is where the fun is - though it is a massive shame so many teams play crappy long ball football.

Other clubs will catch on to what our owner is doing, the way we coach, scout and play football, and the gaps will narrow again. Hopefully we can get to the PL and set ourselves up financially for the future first.

We have it cracked. The excitement of a promotion challenge, and then an end of season collapse to avoid being in that tedious division.

Ross McCormack has joined Central Coast Mariners on a season long loan. He will lead the line along side Usain Bolt

McCormack has had one hell of a fall from grace.

Doubt he's assed, still earning mega money from Villa and living it up out in Australia.

Probably gutted he wasn't playing in Blackburn last week.

Caulker at Euxton training with the squad.
Best centre half we’ve had in my lifetime, he looked every bit a future England captain in the making. It’s a shame off the field issues have ruined such a fantastic talent.

Unlucky. He is one of these players that keeps getting deals based on his name, yet turns out to be shit. He had the perfect chance to sort his life out in Scotland, away from the limelight but ends up getting his contract terminated.

He cancelled it himself - was playing well and knew he could get a better deal elsewhere, and had joined them with a clause that allowed him to cancel his own deal in that window.

We had him as a youngster and he was absolutely superb. What a pity as he should have been an England regular for years.

Suffered from depression for a long while. Not something that can be magically sorted out by moving to a new place. Not in the long term anyway.

AN was at AFC Fylde's game on Tuesday, supposedly watching Serhat Tasdemir, 18yr old winger who is being tracked by quite a few clubs.

Jordan Graham is now at Oxford United (training). We're cutting his loan off in Jan.

Woeful, but was never likely to be looked on favourably by Lambert; the pair not seeing eye to eye whilst at Villa and Wolves.

If we manage to bag Cahill on loan, then i’ll be a happy man. Always rated him, and would strengthen us so much.

We’ve been linked with Josh Maja in the Bristol Post the last few days, the young striker from Sunderland.

Be happy with that though I’d give Eisa a go first.

Completely forgot he existed, has he been injured?
Yeah, he started one cup game and got injured, as all of our players seem to. He’s been back on the bench for the last few, expect he’ll start Saturday. We signed Adelukan as well who we’ve seen nowt of yet either.

HITC saying Liverpool are watching Lloyd Kelly, Johnson said last month Man Utd are. Not surprised really, money isn’t an object to these club and given Brentford wanted 20m for Mepham I’d be asking for at least that with a large sell on.

Supposedly looking to offload Chris Maxwell and bring in Conor Ripley.

Maxwell is much better than Rudd but he's a bit of a cock by the sounds of it, if he didn't reclaim his place after that Rudd fuck-up at Birmingham then its time to leave.

Know nothing of Ripley other than Oldham fans rated him.
