Phew. We are clearly vulnerable at the back. And how is James Wilson playing in league 2? And how can Salford afford him?

And now down to 9 men with Pope sent off. This is utterly extraordinary. Pope shouldn't have mouthed off even if it was a soft free kick.

Kettle is an absolute cock. Their player falls over, he gives a free kick, Pope rightfully gives said diver an earful and gets sent off. Unbelievable look at me refereeing.

Phew full time, that was a bizarre game mainly thanks to Kettle.

Oyeleke looked good when he came on.

That was one of the worst games I have been too in my life, two truly horrific sides but we were much worse.

Should of cruised it but Clarke was a tool and Kettle a complete bellend. Pope just bollocked him for diving but let’s be honest Kettle might as well have had an FGR shirt on! Shocked he even gave us the penalty.

Take the win and great to see it out but boy we made harder work of that than it needed to be!

Well, you could make a case for most of the fouls he gave but you weren't dirty so should have been about even free kicks wise, as he could have found the same from us if he wanted. Did think the red was right. Anyway, thought your defending was good too and a big part of why our heads stayed down as we couldn't make anything happen in final third.

If only Kettle had sent off 3 more of theirs then we would have won by default. It could easily have happened the way he was going. At least he entertained everyone.

Appalling refereeing display ruined a reasonable game. First sending off was silly from Clark but could have been a yellow. Second is just daft. He literally gave everything against us (apart from the penalty). I hope he is sacked, never to ref at this level again.

Great win tonight - in fact, a great evening for us top feeders. That was our last game against anyone that looks like they could challenge the top 3. With the others at the top still to play each other and the rest of the PO teams we should - should - be looking to pull away now.

Famous last words!

First red is right thats stupidity and costly for Saturdays game with Gibbons also out.

Popes was harsh but again stupid to risk it. Luckily didn’t cost us.

What an absolutely fantastic result and performance from The Mighty Mariners tonight. Vernams 3 goals were all excellent but that 3rd was probably one of the best I've seen by a Grimsby Town player for many a year.

And what can I say about Ian Holloway and the all-round difference to the whole mindset around the club, You my friend are a bloody genius.

Pretty woeful from us tonight, nothing apart from one headed set piece chance (obviously) Swindon should have had a penalty earlier on from a foul by Turnbull and the constant counter-attacking from our set pieces meant they were always a threat. Deserved win.

Pleased to see us absolutely battering a team for a change. Oldham had clearly given up at 3-1...

I have no doubt Trevor Kettle is on the blower to the team that put the highlights together making sure he is at the centre of them.

Great win which makes it two consecutive away wins on the bounce, unheard for us really! First half we were very good, limited Forest Green to minimal chances, worked hard and put the opposition under pressure. Mitch Clark was very impressive.

Second half, especially the last 20 minutes was just bizarre! We never looked like conceding and looked in cruise control at 3-0. Then we conceded and all of our discipline and game man management went out of the window. It was clear as day that the ref was giving foul after foul and was happy to book anyone for anything. So for Clark to go in for that reckless challenge about 5 minutes late and for Pope to scream in the oppositions face when he clearly fouled him was just stupid.

The last 20 minutes put a bit of a dampener on events but it’s another great win at the end of the day. Sets us up nicely now.

He wouldn’t be in the match play highlights as he was about 30 yards behind play all the time. Clown.

That's kind of how I saw it as well. I thought we setup quite bravely to hit you on the break and had we not been so wasteful could have put the game to bed earlier. DJ missed 2 sitters before a decent goal by Lyden. I was a little disappointed by Northampton, didn't seem to be quite at the races today? I thought we defended well and broke well as a unit. Pretty good away performance overall.

Onto Scunny at home on Saturday, surely we go into this massively confident now!

We just never do it easy! 3-0 and cruising I’m thinking yes! No anxiety watching us and I can relax a bit... Joyce stupidly bundled into the back of their lad going nowhere and gifts a penalty and all of a sudden the disciplined performance went out the window. Clarke late, Popes first yellow was harsh as it wasn’t intentional he just caught him as he was running behind, terrible defending when we are packing our own box to give their lad a free header from 12 yards and then Pope frustrated (FGR did go down like a sack of spuds all night tbf) bollocks their lad for it and sees a second yellow. So have to defend the last free kick with 9 men which then pinballed until it was finally booted away and the strange eight minutes of time he found was over.

Kettle hasn’t ever really been too bad for us that I recall and always wondered what the fuss was but tonight he was on another level. Gave FGR literally everything but missed the ones on Conlon, did keep his cards away most of the game then just started booking anything that moved last 15!

Great win though, FGR looked poor at the back and devoid of ideas compared to the side that came to VP, is Matt Mills injured? Seemed to lack a leader at the back. Surprised how much they tried to load our box at times compared to their usual football but they just had zero confidence and their fans seemed on their backs, especially Logan who seemed to be taking a right battering!

Huge win for us, opens up a large gap now to 10th and drags Northampton and Colchester into our crosshairs so no longer just the one place up for grabs, should be a massive game Saturday now against Colchester. Win that and we will really start believing!

Awful from us tonight. Said to the lads I stand with that Swindon would do us on the counter, they just had too much quality going forward to keep leaving them man to man.

Last 2 games have seen the ‘shit football is alright when you win’ argument really hammered home. As it stands now I wouldn’t want Curle managing us next year (contract up in the summer) and it’s a bit reactionary but I think we’ve got a serious battle on to hold on to our playoff spot.

Positives from tonight...ummm the atmosphere was good from both sets of supporters...that’s about it
