Three Girls.
A harrowing watch about young girls in Rochdale being abused by Asian men,I'm really surprised this was on BBC1 as they don't like reporting on events like this. I nearly turned it off after a fat **** raped a 15 year old but i'm glad i stuck with it so i can see the scum go down. What with this and Little Boy Blue it's been depressing viewing this week. :(

Jamestown. It's a bit crap innit.
Like you'd never know that from those melodramatic trailers!

Finished Taboo. Decent but nothing amazing. Away to start the second series of Fortitude.

I have just finished watch 24: Legacy. It was really good, which is surprising as Jack Bauer in it. It had 1 character from previous 24's, and it wasn't Jack. Left off looking like they will do another series.

The febrile political climate in the states has posted a load of supposedly HARD-HITTING and BITING tv/film stuff right down the shit pipe, IMO.

I do feel somewhat sorry for anyone who was writing or filming something this time last year and has to sit and squirm as it goes out now, knowing that the average CNN news cycle will run rings around it.

Been watching the original 2 series of Twin Peaks this week, just got 2 episodes left. Loved series 1, series 2 is still really good but for me the quality dropped a bit when they revealed the killer

Anyone watching Sky's much hyped Riviera?
The full 10 episode series was made available for download from today. I'm halfway through it and so far so good.

Going to start on The Handmaid's Tale tonight.

I've just watched the 3rd episode and now need to watch the 4th! It's absolutely brilliant. I studied the book at 6th form and loved it, this is so well adapted, it's unreal. Each episode has got better and better.

All the more weird is I've not long finished off watching Gilmore Girls...does the Ofglen arc REALLY explain what Rory was doing for those 9 years between the end of the original series and the revamp?

I did the same, agree really. From what I've read, they never actually intended to ever reveal Laura's killer, but the network at the time pressured them to. Considering that mystery was the glue that held all the multiple storylines together in some way, it's no surprise that the overall quality declined, even though there were still some very good moments. Only watched the first double episode of the return so far. Not sure what to make of it yet.

Ah, good old Episode 3 (a.k.a. ‘The One Where They Cut Rory’s Clit Off’). TBH, mate, I think you may be the only sentient being in the known universe who finished that episode and then couldn't wait for the next one. I was happy to wait. More than happy. I would have waited indefinitely if possible. Mrs Scumbag had to pretty much bully me into watching Episode 4.

Think you’ve been watching too much horror!

I finished the series last week, BTW. Mixed thoughts. Will keep them to myself until the whole series has aired in Britannia.

Ha ha! Yes I think horror has desensitised me! I had to keep watching because it was so bad! I remember the bigger parts of the book, but there are some details I've forgot over time (I left 6th form in 2004, so a long time ago now!) so there are parts of this that are still quite shocking, as Id clearly hidden them away as a distraught 17 year old! I vaguely remember that Ofglen wasnt outed until much later in the book, and given that the book is narrated by Offred, we never know for sure what happened next, only ever the little rumours she'd have heard. I dont ever expect that a film or tv series should follow a book verbatim, and I think they are so far adapting it to perfection. Any changes Ive noticed so far have been good ones. Probably no coincidence that Atwood herself is involved with the series.

^ I generally prefer page-to-screen adaptations to make liberal use of creative license, especially when the source text uses restricted first person narrative.

The switch from page (‘tell’) to screen (‘show’) necessitates a different type of storytelling. Why not take full advantage of it? Why restrict the viewer to June’s understanding of events? Why not step outside it? They kind of have to, TBH, because there isn’t enough material in the book for one series, let alone two.

I won’t get into great detail here in case I ruin anything, but I had no grumbles with any of the significant changes. The way the show reimagines/expands the characters and stories of Ofglen (Emily) and Ofwarren (Janine) is particularly good.

It got more and more bizarre and pushed some minor characters into some pretty off-the-wall subplots (Nadine and Benjamin Horne, for example), which I loved, but I can see why most people prefer the pre-reveal stuff.

I'm waiting for the new series to air completely before I dive in.

Yeah that's kind of my attitude. I don't like ridiculous wholesale changes for changes sake, but of they add to or flesh out the story, it's very welcome.

True, some of the subplots were good, the Nadine one you mentioned for example was great. Others were a bit more hit and miss, like the one with James and the rich woman. Found that one really dull.

Yeah, that one wasn't great. I liked the first scenes where they met in the roadside bar but as it progressed it didn't really do much for me.

I wasn't really into the Benjamin Horne stuff in season 2, the Nadine story was funny though. James' story was just awful and offered nothing other than making me dislike his character

Third series of Better Call Saul. Will finish it tonight. It's been a slow burner of a show but in its own way it is gripping.

Glow is brilliant. Even though the plot is about creating a wrestling show, I don't think it would be alienating. There are some really funny and interesting bits, and it doesn't rely on wrestling itself as a narrative. It's more about the struggles of producing a niche TV show in the 80s, with some girl powerflavours to it. Certainly one for wrestling fans, and probably one for non-wrestling fans too. I'm looking forward to a second season.

Been trying to watch a few shows like The Mist, American Gods. Twin Peaks, Legends Of Tomorrow. Mr Robot and Gotham to name but a few, but I just never seem to get around to it...

Actually I am making a complete (re-)watch of "House, MD".

....and in 8 days the long waiting is over, at last: #WinterIsHere, the start of the 7th season of Game of Thrones

Yeah, I know we've had the trailer already here but I am actually watching it again and again so it suits here again ;). Can't wait to see Sophie Turner and Emilia Clarke again

Been rattling through Vikings on Amazon Prime - it's very much a poor man's Game of Thrones but if you like GoT then you'd be silly not to give it a go what with the potential that we don't get the next GoT season till 2019.

If you like Vikings then The Last Kingdom is worth watching if you haven't already.

Not if you've read all the books like me it isn't. Cornwell had Uhtred as a blonde 6 foot warrior who passed himself off as a Dane unlike the skinny dark haired wimp the BBC show has, there's poetic license and there's taking the piss. It seems The BBC doesn't expect many of its audience have read the books so know no better than the way they have changed everything that Cornwell wrote in his superb series of books.

Surely better than re-writing actual like Vikings does.

Watching Curb Your Enthusiasm at the moment. Top class.

I am also watching Orange Is The New Black as well. Can't get into it but I will persevere with it
