I had my doubts about 24 being set in London but for me it was one the best series although nothing touches the first one.

Totally agree with you. I think series 5 was pretty good as well, if I remember rightly. I have the box set for series 7 (i think) and it says 'last ever series' all over it. This is the second one since then

The Art Of France, always enjoyable with Andrew Graham-Dixon.

Stumbled across the Psychoville Halloween Special last night, and I'm going to have to watch this, Reece Shearsmith is fucking hilarious when he wants to be. Got the series tagged on Kodi now, will get round to them next week I reckon.

Just about to watch the new drama series SS - GB on BBC one, an alternate history adaptation where Germany won the battle of Britain and have now occupied the British Isles.

So after Robert Harris "Fatherland" and "The man in the High Castle" from Philip K.Dick we have now another adaption of this fiction. I think I'll give this a miss unless you say it's worth watching

I haven't read/seen either of the two fiction novels you mention Dirk, but I did enjoy episode 1 of SS - GB, (there are 5 episodes to the series) and although it has been criticised for poor audio due to "mumbling" by the actors I heard every word clearly, my only gripe would be poor lighting with most scenes appearing to be either filmed at night or in poorly lit rooms.

OK if there are only 5 episodes then I could take a look.

Black Sails is a half decent series watch on Amazon Prime, Treasure Island is a classic book and it is based just before that time and along the same lines of story. The 75 is probably the best one off thing I've watched in years so thats a must too for anyone that hasn't seen it yet...

Couldn't get on with Black Sails and gave up 7/8 episodes in as nothing ever happened to keep my interest and i found it dull.

I fancied Black Sails as I love the historic naval stuff and who doesn't like pirates! However when I heard Michael Bay brought it to the screen, I didn't want to waste what time I have on this Earth watching any more of his shite.

Black Sails is pretty good I reckon, well worth a watch. It's in to the final of it's 4 seasons too, so it's not being dragged out like most shows nowadays. The keelhauling scene from the other weeks episode was fucking brutal and really well done.

Also, Jessica Parker Kennedy

Anyone been through season 2 of Mr. Robot? I've had it on my hard drive for a while but was strongly of the opinion that while it was an excellent watch, it should be a one and done show, and I don't want to watch s2 only to have it sully the good name of the first season.

Funny you say that mate because I honestly felt the same at the end of the first series (so about 8 eps in.) Then I gave the second series a shot and it took about 2 episodes to get going and it really just kept picking up from there because they fleshed out the stories of the interesting characters and just cut out the annoying ones from the first series. They also honed in on the realistic naval and historical stuff a bit more if you like that kind of thing. Agree it's not everyone's cup of tea though.

I think I just need to get my head around him not being in it, and think of it as a new programme. I would have thought they might have carried on the UK one from the last series but it seems it is a whole fresh cast, but produced by Kiefer Sutherland.

Season 5 was the last great season.

However last year's 12 part attempt was very good and felt quite fresh. Watched the 1st couple of this new one. It's a decent action thriller, but you just can't build any emotional attatchment to the storyline as it's not Jack Bauer, Chloe, Tony and the gang.

Will see if it grows.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
Got through the entire first series of Santa Clarita Diet on. Netflix in three days.

A not-zombie-zombie series that's worth a watch.

Need to finish 'Last man on earth' now.

Just finished watching Taboo and felt the series was underwhelming, the last episode was decent but the rest were fairly dull. 6/10.

I agree. I felt like there should have been more darker parts than what there actually was and a lot of unanswered questions.

It's an odd series in that the main protagonists is a massive c*** that has pointless/inscrutable goals, without even being particularly charismatic. I don't know why anyone would root for Delaney of all people.

I watched the first episode of Taken on Amazon yesterday (tv series, not the first film). Quite a good watch, clearly has a big budget for it as well. As always though, prequels are quite hard to gain suspense as you know that everything will be okay in the end.

Did anyone watch Ultimate Hell Week? SAS style training for amateurs, it was on BBC2 but finished last week. Most likely on the iPlayer if you missed it and like the sound of it. I love that sort of show!

Same here mate, I really wanted Downham to win though. Oniyuke must have been the most polite man ever!!

Don't think it quite matched up to Channel 4's SAS: Who Dares Wins in the reality stakes but it was good.

He really was! I was rooting for Parrott for most of it, but can't argue with the winner.

Yeah, I also liked Parrott. Thompson was just annoying, I wanted to mute to TV everytime she opened her nasally mouth.

If you didn't watch Who Dares Wins Joe, there will probably be both series available on demand. Ant and Foxy are absolute legends. They've done something that was my dream as a kid, the camaraderie between the special forces guys is like no other.
