Yeah, I also liked Parrott. Thompson was just annoying, I wanted to mute to TV everytime she opened her nasally mouth.

If you didn't watch Who Dares Wins Joe, there will probably be both series available on demand. Ant and Foxy are absolute legends. They've done something that was my dream as a kid, the camaraderie between the special forces guys is like no other.

I saw an interview with the pair of them and they came across really well, very interesting guys. I shall try and seek it out!

Watching Supernatural with the wife, it's very good, currently getting up to the end of season 8

Watched the first episode of Iron Fist earlier, promising start, I'm expecting greatness again

I've watched a few episode of it, I thought it was decent enough. The reviews for it have been terrible so far though, but that seems to have more to do with politics than anything else.

From what I’ve seen so far (4 episodes) it’s laughably bad. And I couldn’t give less shits about white saviour clichés, orientalism or whatever the PC nerds are moaning about this time. It’s just terribly written, poorly acted garbage that is completely bereft of originality. The lead actor is ATROCIOUS. When he and the scripts are at their worst it seems like a spoof of the genre,

Superhero stuff isn't my bag, but FWIW I really liked Jessica Jones and enjoyed aspects of Luke Cage and Daredevil (for a season and a third, at least). This is the first one in the Defenders series that I've found almost unwatchable.

Strange, I enjoyed this one but didn't like Jessica Jones one bit in fact I've not even finished it.

I think Iron fist had a pretty slow start and didn't properly begin until the 4/5th episode but it was more that good enough for there on. Maybe I just have smaller expectations for these sort of programs.

Maybe, but FWIW I don’t watch this sort of thing expecting The Wire with capes. I try to judge shows or films within their genre. For example, a far-fetched premise is par for the course with this Marvel stuff. I don’t have a problem with that, but I do expect a certain standard of production, acting, writing, etc. My critical yardstick is basically the standard set by the previous instalments in the Defenders series. Iron Fist hasn’t lived up to them IMO.

In fairness, I am less than a third of the way through. It might get better, and I’ll keep watching because I’m about 65-70% into this Defenders series now and I’m a bit autistic about finishing things once I’ve started. You’re not the only person to tell me it takes 5-6 episodes to get going, so maybe the good stuff is just around the corner. We’ll see. TBH I’m expecting more Finn Jones reciting stilted fortune cookie dialogue so badly that he makes Steven Seagal look like Marlon Brando, but I might be wrong. If so, I’ll post again to admit so. Promise.

There are lots of half-measures thematically. It's like they wanted to explore this duality of trying to become Danny Rand without having truly embraced being the Iron First yet either with the parallel corporate and Hand storylines, but never really commit to one or the other. I don't think the cheesy mystic dialogue was unintentional, his whole concept of Western communication is based on that of a ten year old, it's just that they should have had some of the characters poke fun at it to hang a lantern on it instead of playing it so straight all the time.

I think Jessica Jones and Daredevil are better written and acted, but I did enjoy this more than Luke Cage. I would rather have a story that starts slow and picks up toward the back half than one that peaks half way through a season and then falls apart somewhat later, plus the supporting cast are more enjoyable in this for me also.

Billions, best show i've seen in a good while.

Damian Lewis and Paul Giamatti are brilliant castings.

Does anyone else watch The Americans?

Yep, great show.

Glad I saw this post, prompted me to Google when the next season is out and it's airing now.

Crash and Burn. A doc about a racing driver called Tommy Byrne, who was apparently as talented as Senna at the same time he was coming through but never had the money, nor temperament, nor chances to get into F1 properly. He had a few races there with a woeful car, and a test with Mclaren, and was faster in testing at Silverstone than team drivers John Watson and Nikki Lauda, but Ron Dennis pulled the plug on it; so he drifted away and eventually found himself racing in Mexico being funded by (and later shot from) a drug dealer! Whenever and wherever he was given a chance though he'd end up winning that series so his talent was definitely there.

A tale at what could've been one of the great F1 drivers of all time, who now teaches racing at a driving school in America.

Also watched a two part doc,Sound Waves: A Symphony Of Physics, with the lovely Dr. Helen Czerski; an area of physics I used to study a lot and always find fascinating. And on top of that she is utterly gorgeous! :D

Vikings Series 4 Part 2.
Slow start with more talking than action but with 2 episodes to go it's really picked up and getting more violent with some horrific deaths.

Have you guys watched 13 reasons why? It was obviously a teenage show but it's kinda educational, too.

Is there anything better on TV than Line of Duty? Each series is blindingly good.

Shades of Blue is decent with Ray Liotta and Jennifer Lopez. Watching that reminded me to revisit Goodfellas again - the best movie of its kind.

Only just got into this. Finished series 3 last night, it was bloody intense! I will be getting up to speed with series 4 as soon as possible.

Series 4 is great drama but i don't think they'll ever beat series 3 as it was one of the best things i have watched in probably the last 10 years at least definately a 10/10.

Finished the second series of The Hollow Crown and Cumberbatch hammed it up brilliantly in the last episode playing the pantomime villain that is Richard III.

Into the fourth episode of Taboo, pretty decent so far.

Just watched the first 3 episodes of the current series, fuck me, it's a gripping drama - reckon Lakewell could be Balaclava man as Hunter's husband is too wimpish to have done the deed, roll on E4.

That was my thought, too. If he knew he was going to kill that copper why bother with the balaclava.

Just watched the first series on Netflix which was bloody good too.

Been watching Star Trek TOS and TNG on Netflix. The latter I watched "The Battle" and "The Royal" episodes most recently. Neither was that great, I've seen much better TNG episodes in all honesty. Battle was the better of the two with an alien race using a mind control device on Picard to try and get him to blow up the Enterprise using the old ship he used to be captain of. The latter was the away team getting trapped in a 1950s style Vegas hotel - was a half arsed episode in all honesty. Going to watch the Borg story arc soon because I've never seen it but love the First Contact movie.

Also watched the first two eps of Party of Five on Netflix which I hadn't seen before until recently. More of a drama/sentimental thing - not bad but not sure if I will stick with it yet.

The first 3-4 episodes of Better Call Saul (season 3) have been outstanding.

The first episode of American Gods was an interesting mess about which I unable to form a concrete opinion. Watching it again, this time sober, might help.

Going to start on The Handmaid's Tale tonight.

Had seen the trailer at amazon prime. Recognized Ian McShane and put it directly onto my watchlist. Will watch it after the CL Match today....sober :D

Going to start on The Handmaids Tale's tonight.

Handmaid? Sounds promising :D (or is it only my dirty mind? )

^ It's a futuristic dystopia in which Christian fundamentalist loons have seized control of America and imposed a theocracy in which women are treated like shit. You'll absolutely love it, Dirk.

No, I was just taking the piss. Ignore me. The show is an adaptation of a Margaret Atwood novel (click here if you want to know more).

McShane is very good in American Gods, by the way. The best thing in it so far, actually. The show is made by the same people who made Hannibal. Don’t know if you're familiar with that, but if so imagine that show's basic aesthetic applied to something much broader and more fantastical. I’m undecided on it, but it’s definitely worth a go.

Taking the piss? Ah yes :D Put the series in my Kodi Watchlist

@Hannibal: Of course I am familiar with it. I like Mads Mikkelsen.
I just watched the first ep. of American Gods. The starting scene with the Vikings on the Beach was awesome. The rest....ok. I'll definitely watch the next ones, too.
