Stranger Things 2 finished, just as good as the first series. looks like its all over, but then they throw another curve ball at the end

Love Dustin too, and warmed to Steve this series. Nancy can do one

The Sinner
Seems to be well thought of so I'm giving it a go. Seems pretty good so far.

I'm very close to the end of season two of The X-Files. It's still going strong, as I remember, with only a couple of duds appearing so far over the near-fifty episodes I've watched.

I'll hop back aboard the Frobrydelsen train soon too because I stopped watching it towards the end of the second season.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
Designated Survivor

A low level US politician becomes president because he wasn’t present when a terrorist attack killed everyone else, then has to overcome all the conspiracy behind it while bringing the country back together. First series is better than the second.

Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency. Rather odd new take on the character with a new story (the books get a passing mention) but mysterious and fun enough.

Disappointed that they are doing a 3rd one, as it felt so final. Rumours that it will be set in present time with new actors.

The creators said they see it lasting four or five seasons, but they do want a finite ending.

Shankly : Nature's Fire. An excellent documentary of the great man charting his early days here in Scotland, his early playing days and then on to management with Huddersfield, Preston etc before heading to Liverpool and turning them into the behemoth they became.

Very well made, no narration, just interviews with fans, players and family describing what he was like and how he'd get things done and his infectious enthusiasm transmitted to the whole city as the club started winning trophy after trophy.

I watched the Motherland pilot on iPlayer a while ago and it was very funny. They've just released the rest of the series and the first episode was very funny.

A gentleman and legend of the game. Watched a few Man Utd things over the years of how he had to start all over after Munich eventually leading to your first European Cup in 68(?). He was good friends with Shankly too, and there was none of this bitterness that now exists between the two clubs. I believe he also played for almost all his career with Man City and Liverpool (dunno how you feel about that one Stevie!). And I remember him sitting in the seats at Old Trafford in the early days of the PL. He attended Shankly's funeral as well as both men knew there was much more to life than football. Denis Law played under both manager's and though Busby was the cool, methodical one, and Shankly was the passionate firebrand, he spoke of both with great warmth and that says a lot about both men.

Not many of these fella's around in football these days unfortunately.

If any of you haven't seen peaky blinders then you need to stick it on your list. The first episode of the 4th series just aired and it was absolutely brilliant.

Can't stand that little wab Cillian Murphy so its not for me. A few others in my family do love it though.

Well I would but Jack Grealish has just spoiled a major death for me it seems like.

War of Words: Soldier-Poets of the Somme.

Think I've seen this before, but its probably a repeat for Remembrance Day. This tells the story of some of the great British (and a German) writers and poets who were all within a few miles of each other during the long battle of The Somme. Some of the poetry to come out of it was truly horrifying and moving. This is a sample of such work, written by W.N Hodgson, called Before Action.

'By all the glories of the day
And the cool evening's benison
By that last sunset touch that lay
Upon the hills when day was done,
By beauty lavishly outpoured
And blessings carelessly received,
By all the days that I have lived
Make me a soldier, Lord.

By all of all man's hopes and fears
And all the wonders poets sing,
The laughter of unclouded years,
And every sad and lovely thing;
By the romantic ages stored
With high endeavour that was his,
By all his mad catastrophes
Make me a man, O Lord.

I, that on my familiar hill
Saw with uncomprehending eyes
A hundred of thy sunsets spill
Their fresh and sanguine sacrifice,
Ere the sun swings his noonday sword
Must say good-bye to all of this; –
By all delights that I shall miss,
Help me to die, O Lord.

Written on June 30th 1916, just two days before his death, aged 23.

Sobering, but well worth a watch on iPlayer now.

The Punisher has been great. On par with Daredevil I'd say, or at least as close as any MCU Netflix series has come to it.
