Wrexham probably started this summer a behind Stockport, Notts and Chesterfield on quality in the squad and, if anything, have fallen further behind on signings IMO.

Thank you for taking his wages off our books.

He'll play about 15 games for you. If that

you released him? he was only training with you in recovery and he was listed in the official EFL free transfer list

Nah groups like that are fine, I was just picturing a huge group of Stockport fans in one WhatsApp group which would surely be carnage.

I reckon a Halifax one would consist of B2TF and only B2TF after everyone else left.
I'd be the only one in it to start off with, I'm the only one who gives a shit about the club really, look how long it took the 2 half wits to turn up here, I was here 8 years before they came along and if the season goes tits up this time they'll fuck off again and you won't see them again till we're a top half team again. They know fuck all about the club and still less about football. :ds:

I know you keep saying the Americans aren’t here to spunk their wedge and wanna build something but dear me what is that signing, absolute Torquay #ManicMonday stuff.

Got to agree, hard to be impressed so far. But I think we’ve got a better manager than all those teams, so maybe he’ll make the difference.

Harry Lennon on a one year deal. A little unsure about this one given his injuries tbh
Ok so what are we looking at here? A centre back who it appears is playing at least a level below his standard, all because he’s been so unlucky that he broke his left and right fibula on separate occasions. Apparently played a season in the championship with Charlton, so I’m sure Les Reed knows about him. Seems decent to me. I get the one year deal, it’s smart if he hasn’t completely recovered as you don’t know until he plays. Southend fans seem to rate him (Brown wanted to keep hold of him) and then some seem to have a chip on their shoulder after his night out with the Dover players. I find it difficult to call him injury prone though, because it’s not like he keeps on pulling his hamstring or his calf etc, Ponticelli is my definition of injury prone. But let’s also not forget that Manny Smith was apparently injury prone and Port Vale fans told us Lainton was made of glass

Well to be fair Manny had to retire early because of his injuries and Lainton has sat big chunks of the last two seasons out with injury....but I take your point. And breaking your legs is bad luck not any sort of weakness.

As for all you others, I am pretty happy with our signings so far (this one is a bit more of a risk) and after seeing 13 years of Non-league signings so I feel I'm a fairly good judge of what works and what doesnt. We shall see who is right.

Stockport County.
I don't see whats so bad about Wrexham's signings. They've still got 4 or 5 to make yet at least with the size of their squad aswell. T
With Parkinson, they're going down a different route than ourselves and Notts County have gone and that's not a bad thing- probably more good in my opinion. They'll be quite a direct side I imagine. They'll be up there for sure.

Manny had a career ending injury, was it ACL? He barely had any injuries in both his spells with us. I don’t remember Lainton missing many games, apart from when he had concussion last season, I think he missed a few then.

It’s a risk for sure but an experienced manager like PP is not going to put all his eggs in one basket, I’m sure at least one more defender will come in. You think, we’ve lost Pearson, Kelleher and Vassell and even Carra played competently in the back 3 near the end of last season, so we need to replace these. Personally I’d have kept Vassell, think he’s someone you can develop. As for our signings, I know nothing about Brisley, but you don’t stick around in the FL season after season if you haven’t got something about you. Mcalinden, looked like a busy kind of player in the PO semi final I saw vs Tranmere, so could be good. Happy with Hyde, seems like an old fashioned striker who will always be in the box, so we need to create the chances for him. Need some midfielders also though, a ball winner and someone who can control the game

Honestly I don’t care what style of play we employ, if it gets results. If we’re going to be one of the ugly sides like Mansfield and Bristol Rovers etc, then I’m all for it. Keates tried to make us resolute and ugly.. and he succeeded :bg: But not in the way he wanted. We were too defensive, but also passive. I want a group of players who will give everything every game and be tough and a unit. We've had a soft centre for a while now, so the midfielder signings are key

Speaking of Stockport is there a better Stockport fans forum? the only one I can ever find is the Yellow Board, and thats like something from 1995. Id like to see what other chants they have.

Looking generally, it seems that ourselves, Wrexham and Torquay have got the experienced, (fairly) successful managers putting teams together that are solid and generally better than their parts suggest. Obviously Torquay’s signings were pretty uninspiring the other day but Johnson will get them performing, it’s all he ever does in this league.

Us lot are up against Chesterfield, Stockport and Notts who are signing better quality players with adventurous but untested managers. They’re certainly looking scary on paper but it’ll be interesting to see how Chesterfield and Stockport keep everyone happy, as many quality players usually end up crashing and burning, unless you’re the Crawleys and Lutons of a few years ago.

That seems a pretty good assessment.

I'm expecting Rowe to have a massive falling out with someone and leave Chesterfield under a cloud, he just seems that type. Whether that happens before or after he gets some success there is anyones guess. If they get a bit if luck with injuries their first choice team looks full of pace (Danny Rowe apart) and goals.

Stockport have added a bit of quality in Quogley and Whitfield to what was already a pretty good aide- but I have no idea how they are going to play them all their defence doesn't look as good as their attack and im still unsure about Rusk.

Notts County I think might well be the team to beat next season. I think they've made the best signings and I was impressed how Burchnall got them playing. That said they are a cursed team.

I’ve seen you post this a couple of times about Rowe and it’s starting to get a little bit odd and come out of nowhere

Those in and around the club have nothing but positive things to say about him (especially the board who are in absolute awe of him so they won’t be falling out with him I can assure you of that) , and just because he’s shifted a couple of players out doesn’t mean he’s had any ‘massive’ fallings out previously as you put it… it’s just having a ruthless edge to move people on who don’t fit with into what we’re trying to do

You only have to google Rowe (or indeed listen to him speak) to see that he’s the sort of character capable of having a big falling out with someone, whether player, board or whoever. It may well not happen, and you can’t argue with what he’s done at Ches so far, but it’s hardly an outlandish claim.

Sounds like I need to up my game. Thanks for the heads-up. :box:
Nah the Bolton bollocks blabberer is in a league of his own when it comes to being annoying, you will never be able to match him no matter how hard you try.

I just don’t buy that opinion, but fair enough, maybe as fans of other clubs you look at things he says and does differently.

Are we talking Danny or James? Originally I thought ER was talking about Danny Rowe, who always seems a bit arrogant and he has those big red cheeks like a toddler who just had a tantrum. Top quality at this level though

He was disciplined by West Ham after parents complained about how he was treating kids, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to suggest someone who’s done that perhaps has a style that might rub adults up the wrong way haha. Or maybe he’s gone totally zen now.

Fairly certain he’s talking about James as I’ve seen him post it a few times

On Danny though, he just seems very laid back, the type who keeps himself to himself from what I’ve seen.. doesn’t get involved in any on field ‘shenanigans’ so to speak. The guy doesn’t even celebrate his goals, even the screamers

He got us playing some outstanding stuff at the end of the season, and that with essentially no meaningful time on the training pitch and none of his own players (not that we operate like that anyway). I’m really excited to see what it’s like after a summer of work and some signings, all of whom seem to have been picked to play a very specific role in the system.

I’m sure we’re going to be really exciting to watch and score lots of goals, but we’ll need to show at least some of the other side of it as well, which is the big question mark. Defending set pieces and competing physically - although our signings seem to have been targeted at this to some extent as well with Cameron at the back, a six foot midfielder and two lightning quick wing backs.

Your best player in the second game against us was the midfielder who scored whose name escapes me, but I’m pretty sure he’s left now hasn’t he? No one else really stood out, but Wootton always seems to get goals even though I’ve never seen him ever do anything in a game. You’ll do well to replace Ellis too, he’s colossal at this level
