Sutton beat Stevenage 4-3 in sudden death penalties following a goalless draw in normal time. Dean Bouzanis who came on as a sub saved 3 penalties in a row.

The Sutton public got the memo about this tournament with a total attendance of 770 tonight

Add to our exotically named youngsters Cowmeadow and Taank, we now have Bunch in tonight's Matchday squad

It’s like you’re using football manager regens to fill your squad.

Heh. Out of this year’s EFL Trophy without conceding a single goal to go nicely with getting knocked out of last year’s League Cup without losing a tie.

Entire team changed from Saturday and got a bit of a battering from virtually Colchester’s 1st XI first half. Managed to squeeze 1 in before half time but Colchester 1-2 up. Don’t think our youngsters are covering themselves in glory - especially at the back.

Didn't watch last night but sounds like Minturn was rotten last night after he played really well against Newport in the groups. Incredibly inexperienced side we put out, I guess Garner is all for blooding the youth players in this tournament which hopefully has a positive effect on them long term. Seemingly the young lad Gordon is on Fulham's radar so be interesting if he is named on any benches going forward.

Colchester had a much more experienced side so hardly surprising we lost. Good to get 90 into Crichlow coming back from injury and the lesser spotted Anthony Grant getting minutes.

Didn’t see any of our game though apparently Politic went off after picking up a knock. Hopefully it’s only minor otherwise will say it again, stop risking injuries in this worthless competition!! Especially when we are already down to the bare bones in terms of attacking players.

In all fairness he had to play or your risking Amoo who obviously is injury prone. Dazzler reckons it looked precautionary but Lloyd is out for months so thats our three out and out strikers out for the long term with our two main youth team strikers also out! Literally couldn't write it could you? Lose Politic and we dont have any attacking subs left at all.

First half we shown them a lot of respect, sat deep but Stone only had one save to make and Smith blazed over a sitter.

Second half was a really good watch, their goal was well worked on the break but we had countless chances to score (good chances too), Rodney blazed high and wide with only the keeper to beat, their keeper made a great point blank stop from Amoo, Politic had good efforts and just didn't seem like it was going to be our night, they threw on Smith, Ferguson and Ladapo, obviously we didnt have the options they had as Worrall, Pett and Gibbons werent even on the bench.

Burgess came on did well I thought as did Benning.

Finally got the game before a crazy injury time spell, pin ball in our area and Smith headed wide with an open goal from six yards, before we had a free kick which Smith headed, their lad booted it to clear which ricocheted off another defender and flew towards the bottom corner, great save and Burgess blew the rebound over.

Their keeper got man of the match, considering the players we didnt feature and they threw on their big guns I felt it was great effort from the boys and gives us some positivity.

Good to see Leggey back and in form too... seconds in he absolutely flattened Will Grigg!

I enjoyed it, had the first team out we'd have won that so bodes well for the weekend.

884 fans at Brunton Park yesterday, that's the important stat from this competition.

Beat Lincoln on penalties though after a 1-1 draw.

Young Gordon did, indeed, look useful. Tbh, I’d never heard of him before. Be nice to keep him but I suppose if Fulham or someone else offers good money for him, he’ll be off.

1,758 there last night with 79 from Colchester.

Played well 20 odd attempts on goal though and a 2-0 loss tells you the problem we played half reserves half first team not sure about Cambridge.

Didn’t go obviously, but the result was surprising. I expected Lincoln to win easily so was fully expecting last night to be our last ever EFL Trophy appearance.

Lots of changes for us tonight at Sheff Wed, more interested in Saturday at Lincoln.

Bright start so far, maybe some of the fringe players trying to show something to the new gaffer.

More likely to do with the fact Wednesday have been awful.

That’s probably the worst I have ever seen us play! Hartlepool were better than I expected though so fair play to them. Didn’t realise Graeme Lee was their new manager either, ex Owl.
Payback for 2005?
Yeah, we’re all devastated we’ve been knocked out the Pizza Cup

The guy is a walking meme. Purely mental. Nothing sums him up more than his good footwork to win a free kick, to then be stood offside when receiving the short pass.Completely brain dead.

Wednesday were terrible tonight, made us look good. We completely dominated, with our second string team. Tells you everything you need to know.

Pretty much, I can’t help but like the fella he’s just majorly hopeless, if he ever manages to score for us he’ll probably strip naked and do a lap of the pitch.

Here’s some useful information on jellied eels.
In the 18th century, native eels were plentiful in the River Thames and estuary, and Dutch eel barges and fishmongers a common sight. One cheap and easy preparation, particularly among the East End working-class poor, was to chop the eels, boil them in herbs, and then allow them to cool. The eels would produce enough of their own gelatin so that a soft jelly would form around the pieces. (Today, a bit of gelatin is often added.) When the first pie-and-mash shops began opening in the 19th century, jellied eels—and stewed eels, boiled and served hot—were the only other staple on the menu. And so it is today at the handful of legit eel-pie-and-mash shops remaining.
As for the taste? Once you get past the soft texture, which can be off-putting, the taste is great—mild and slightly salty, not at all “fishy.” There's just one bone in the eel to eat around. Common accompaniments are vinegar and white pepper.

So was our effort and win down to sheff wed being that bad.
Thier manager who knows the players clearly thought he,d put out a side capable
Of winning the tie.
I think the players showed a real togeatherness and willingness to work extremely
hard for each other.

No not completely, I think it’s the best performance pools have put in for a while. Especially in recent games, a number of them will have sent a message to the new gaffer, Crawford especially looked great in that midfield.

However, I don’t think it’s an outrageous statement to say Wednesday were terrible aswell.

Agree ,Pools played very well.
It now begs the question of how many keep their place Saturday,or do we revert to type & reinstate players who've been awful the last few games.
Mitchell,Jones,Odisina & Goodwin should start against Lincoln.

Get where your coming from.
Suppose the Sheff wed players believed all they had to do was turn up, And we all know what happened next.

I think the way they played had a lot to do with the way we played, With regard to the high press we applied, Which was a brave tactic playing away to a club 1 division above.

Not forgetting we had about 7 of the usual first team missing, And i think they put 3 of thiers on at HT.
