Daylight robbery.

Could have been 4 or 5-0 up at half time.

Fuck me, we’re good. Looking forward to this season.

Let me guess forest do nothing for 89 mins and somehow lick the ball in from 2 yards ?

Not far off. Completely outclassed for the majority of the game before a lucky bounce from a corner leaving adomah with an easy finish from a few yards out.

Glad Charlton are doing well anyway I would give anything for Lee Bowyer to still be there in our last home game of the season 100% be there if that happens

He’s class.

Made a few changes tonight and no-one could understand why. Then what followed was possibly the best first half performance I’ve seen from any Charlton side.

Top, top manager.

He should have stayed at Luton. Idiot.
Was onto a good thing and chased what he thought was a better option. Stoke is in decline and it is going to take longer to turn around.
Nobody gets time these days so he will be gone soon.
He had a great thing going at Luton, but his departure leaves a sour taste in the mouth. To inviting the Coates family down to the NYD Barnsley game under fake names, to holding up the manager of the month trophy in a Stoke shirt, to taking all of our staff, right in middle of the most important month in the clubs history - it really left us in the lurch.

I didn`t realise he did that, lets hope that is the only chance he will get to do that.

Stoke seem to switch from defensive pragmatists (Pulis,Rowett, Lambert) to attack minded managers( Boskamp, Hughes and Jones) the attack minded coaches don`t seem to last long.

They must have spent a record amount for the football league these last two seasons yet seem to be heading for league1.

Unfortunatlely it is Leeds next up, who they often beat as in the absence of any Checkatrade matches they treat it as their cup final.

Are there any Stoke fans on here? Curious as to how Liam Lindsay is looking in that airtight defence.

Stoke were embarrassing, and there's also the reason Jack Butland hasn't got a big move yet, always thought he was massively overrated.

Frustrating game. First 15 minutes, we absolutely battered them. Eze and Samuel were taking the piss and it was brilliant with high pressing and creating chances (without really testing the keeper).

Then we try something from a corner, doesn't work and they break. Our bloke chasing pulls a hammy so they are through on goal and finish it well.

Last 5 minytes or so we are all over them again. Second half, start brilliantly again and have attempts off the bar, off the line, near misses etc and then we finally score. Place is bouncing and we nearly get another and momentum is well and truly with us and my 3-1 bet has a chance.

Then, Barbet decides 'fuck this, I prefer losing' and does the dumbest tackle in the box since the last home game and gives away another penalty. All they have to do is hit the target as Lumley can't save penalties.

Losing 2-1, chasing the game and they get another one due to lazy marking. Game over.

Depends on your view point but I would say a draw would be fair.

Hull away Saturday. They've not had the best start but whilst they've still got Grosicki and Bowen (I've no idea quite how) they'll pose a threat to any side in this division.

Bentley
Moore Kalas Baker
Periera Szmodics Brownhill O'Dowda
Palmer
Afobe Weimann

I'd change the midfield up, can't expect Massengo to do three games in a week and Hunt/Rowe have been pretty poor at wing back I think so I'd like to see a couple of changes in those positions.

1-1. (Bowen 89') (Brownhill 14')

Wednesday at home, should be a good 5k+ following from them.

We look confident at home so hoping we can rack up some more goals but a draw wouldn't be awful, they seem to have started well.

Not sure how they set up, Barky's running up top was perfect against Stoke but think we might need Stockley's link up in this one. Assume Maguire will be unavailable, is it 7 days for concussion?

Rafferty has done well but if he's available i'd bring Hughes straight back in. Fisher back in too.

Presume it'll be the same midfield if there are no knocks. Hoping to see Bayliss on the bench for his league debut.

Rudd
Fisher, Bauer, Davies, Hughes
Pearson, Gallagher
Bodin, Johnson, Harrop
Stockley

Ripley, Rafferty, Bayliss, Browne, Green, Potts, Barkhuizen

Charlton away for us - they've started brilliantly, and we're still trying to find our feet - I'd take a draw with a couple of goals at this point!

Mbeumo has impressed, so I'd like to keep him in the side, Canos will probably drop out to accomodate Benrahma if he's ready to start. Jensen and Norgaard look great, but played a combined 7 games last year, so don't have the fitness levels / match practice to play as a 2 alone in midfield so frequently. I'd like us to switch to a back 4 and put an extra guy in the middle.

Jeanvier has been pretty poor so far this year. Completely lost Nketiah for Leeds' goal, and Bowen for Hull's on the weekend, so I'd prefer him to drop out.

Raya

Dalsgaard - Jansson - Pinnock - Henry

Norgaard - Jensen - Dasilva

Mbuemo - Watkins - Benrahma

Subs: Daniels, Jeanvier, Thompson, Racic, Mokotjo, Canos, Marcondes

Bad news about Nagy mate.
I would agree with that team although don't think Rowe has let anyone down but he's clearly filling in at LWB.
Keep the wonder child on the bench and he can come on when Kasey is blowing a bit then push Szmodics forward.

'HIS HAIR'S MASSIVE'. ;) Can't stop singing it. :woo:

First half you absolutely destroyed us and could have been 2 or 3 up.

Second half was much more even and we probably could have won. Had the ref not ignored Ameobi nearly getting his leg broken we may well have done.

Charlton impressed me, played some really good stuff. Would question making a double change when defending a corner though :)

Said that at the time although to be fair, don’t think it mattered. Was just just one of those unfortunate breaks that probably would have happened anyway.

Why not, how many first half Charlton performances have you seen in the last 20+ years to compare?

The one touch, intricate passing was class at times. You couldn’t cope, being sliced open at will, the build up to our goal was 22 passes. We were brilliant out of possession aswell, your players couldn’t wait to get rid of the ball and we won it back with ease every time. Can’t remember a Charlton side pressing like that and playing with so much energy.

You’re telling me a 1-0 against a mid table championship side where you were good but ultimately had 2/3 good chances, is the best you’ve ever seen? There was me thinking you actually had a relatively decent recent history where you caused some waves in the Prem.

Guess we are still quite a big draw for teams
