John Marquis maybe off to Ipswich or Sunderland? Have to admit, I don't ever see him being more than a decent L1 player, and the jury is still out on whether he can hack it at a top half side at this level, to be honest.

We've signed goalkeepers Adam Smith, formerly of Northampton, and Sam Slocombe, formerly of Blackpool.

Cobblers and Pool fans, what kind of 'keepers are we getting?
Cracking signing Smith is, decent cover as well with the other keeper. Both on frees as well.

True that is! I'm slowly but surely coming round to the fact that this could be a very good season. Our defence is top notch for this level now.
Don't forget our bet mate :D

I think those rumours are just twitter shit. From our end I can say we have yet to receive any interest for him. He hasn't signed a contract extension nor has he stated he wants to leave. I'm of the same opinion as yourself in that he's still to prove himself. Last season he got 26 goals but he went missing in the last 8 games or so and missed a fair few sitters, in reality if he were a good enough striker for the Championship he would have got 40+ last season. The one thing we would miss is his work rate. I like the bloke and hope he stays but I doubt his goal tally this coming season will be enough to keep us up let alone bother the top half of the table.

Signed Regan Poole from Man United on a season long loan, seems highly rated so looks to have almost filled the gap at centre half now with him being our third.

I'm guessing Poole and Taylor first choice? Unless the 4th is even better with our big bucks.

Wimbledon have re-signed Callum Kennedy - Its safe to say my club broke him last season. Decent enough left peg, but his form all season was very poor - Much like the rest of our senior players who weren't deliberately sold.

Confirmed by the club

I think he'll prove to be a good signing for you guys. Was very good for us, during both loan spells, League One is the natural step up for him, would have loved to have him back on loan but he wouldn't have gained much from the experience.

He's destined to play in the Championship one day, interesting to see Spurs have renewed his contract, not sure he'll ever be good enough for them but they've obviously seen enough in him to retain an interest, probably sell him for a bit of money in the future.

Kightly confirmed what a signing that is. Don't think there's been a better signing in the league so far

You'd imagine so wouldn't you, can't see United sending him here to sit on the Dame Judi

Whilst I don't doubt his pedigree, he's 31 going on 32 and played on average 20 games a year over the last 3 and a bit years.

And three years seems excessive!

Yeah, very pleased with the business we've done there JJH. A few days ago I thought I'd be unhappy with anyone other than Joe Lumley being signed as our new goalkeeper (as Aber said earlier), but now the situation is sorted I'm delighted with who Clarke has managed to sign.

Now for some strikers, a winger and a centre half!

When there's interest from the league above you've got to offer a better deal whether it be in terms of money or length of contract.l to make him step down. Our location has obviously helped too. The way he smashed it at Burton last year in a league far superior to this one gives me much hope.

Quite pleased we've signed Kennedy again. He will be a decent backup left back

Genuine question. What is he actually good at? I watched him all of last season and I'm still at a loss. Even with everything that was going on, you could still gauge the strengths and weaknesses of most of the players, but Kennedy's qualities remained a mystery.

I'm pleased that Callum Kennedy has returned. He only left us because he couldn't be guaranteed a regular starting spot - he was released reluctantly according to Neal Ardley at tonight's Meet the Manager event. The grass isn't necessarily greener.

It say a lot about us as a club that former players are comfortable asking if they can train with us. This is the second time that Callum has done it, and Karleigh Osborne has been training with us prior to heading up North to play for Kilmarnock.

Yep. Started well for us, and he was playing well he's good on the ball, and puts in some crunching tackles. The last half of the season he looked unfit and slow, and the games passed him by and his passing went to pot. Get him fit and confident and you'll have a player on your hands. I'd have liked us to give him a shot this year.

We're linked with several:

- Rangers defender Rob Kiernan (on loan or permanent)
- Luke Berry from Cambridge United
- A couple of Man City U21 players on loan

I was saying the other day to a few of my Gas mates that I wouldn't panic yet - you clearly have a bit of cash to work with now otherwise Clarke wouldn't have signed a new deal and he's reliable in the transfer market, I do think you'll come up this season if you get a striker in I must admit.

Liam Trotter played 65 minutes for us today as a trialist. He last played for us at Wembley in 2009 on a loan spell. He apparently was pretty good but it was only against North Ferriby so we're not getting carried away.

Michael Kightly is an outstanding signing. Played a huge part in keeping Burton up last season. I'm assuming he wanted to move back home because I refuse to believe he wouldn't have had offers from the Championship because he's still more than good enough to play at that level. Southend just became serious promotion contenders this season.

Ben reeves was at our pre-season friendly yesterday, sat in the dugout with the team. Quoted as saying "I want to stay, but it's out of my hands" give home the money and he'll stay then, I do wonder if Neilson even wants him at this point with him taking so long to sign a contract.

What a fucking shambles this summer has been for us.

Signing random shite from Chelsea reserves and fucking Grimsby.
