Smart money seems to be on us signing Bradshaw this afternoon. Good player so wouldn't be against it. 31 though so makes me look a right mug for crying about someone calling us Dad's army.
Bradshaw would be a great signing. Saw him play last season and he looked decent in the Championship.

Stockport doing some really good business, spending major cash but doing it in a good way imo.

understand that Challinor has remortgaged his house for the Fiorini signing, more savvy business from Mr Stott and Challinor buying into the project quite literally

Challinor sewing more silk purses from sows ears. Building a team of talented young players on an absolute shoestring at plucky little Stockport.

An impressive signing.

Sounding like the Godden deal is done, hence why we are allowing May to leave. Slightly older than May but should hopefully still have it in him at this level. Not entirely sure if it is a downgrade or upgrade on May given his experience in the Champ
Was surprised to read that Jones was allowing May to leave rather than him pushing for a move. I think I vaguely recall comments r.e. May not quite having the work rate that Jones wanted?

Backed to the hilt once again. Surely another promotion on the cards.

Rob Street from Cheltenham expected to be announced soon, in a deal that doesn't sound as "substantial" as the Cheltenham press initially suggested - more like a £50k/£75k signing with add-ons.

We've also let a couple of the young lads leave on permanents to the LOI and seem to be trimming the fringe players from the squad quite nicely.

That's 8 out for us now, with no news yet on Bishop/Mandroiu (who we expect to leave) and Montsma (who we expect to stay).

I'm also surprised but we've been told it was Jones' call and there was no pressure to sell. I'm assuming he feels he can potentially bring in a couple of players with the proceeds to bolster the team.

When Jones came in last season he dropped and subbed May a fair bit so wasn't overly keen on him. He's not really a Jones style player but most managers would try and make an exception for the golden boot winner!

Probably a foot or so too short as well!

Suppose Palmer was 30 when we signed him and we got a couple of good years out of him. The owners will want promotion as soon as possible, so signing players like that may go further to achieving that than signing less proven youngsters. Sustainability may not be at its max, but it kind of goes out the window with our income.

We are still yet to make a signing... pre season games will be pretty much 5 a side at this rate. More of a general question, what are the rules on FFP in League 1? I know its 60% of your turnover on wages, in which case I cant understand why our budget is so much lower than other clubs of a similar size. But do transfer fees feed into this also?

Interesting comments from Richie Wellens;

"We have to respect that some of these clubs have got...we've just lost Ruel Sotiriou to Bristol Rovers who I see as a similar size club to us. Similar attendances to last season. They've paid him 40 per cent more than our highest earner so that just goes to show that the league that we're in is really tough. So we need to drag everything out of other aspects."

He does realise he is talking about Bristol tinpot Rovers ? I cant believe we are paying that much, or Orient so little??

It's yet to be officially revealed, but if it IS him, he's two years older than Ollie was when we signed him (he's actually 32yo later this month) Decent player, but pretty underwhelming IMO. Need to be looking at players in the 25-27 age range.

Well you’ve paid fees for Sotiriou and Hutchinson - both will be around £100k upwards clearly your board is investing :)

We appear to be trying to bring Lawrence Vigouroux back from Burnley still, would be a big boost to us if we can get him back.

They probably know Evans is off. Bit naughty the Orient manager is openly discussing wages we are offering in the press though

Relevant turnover certainly includes transfer income and expenditure, allocated to different years depending on a complicated set of definitions. But there are plenty of other "revenues" that might be manipulated to increase "turnover," especially sponsorship.

Always crying about something, talking about everybody else's business. Said the same about us when we signed Doyle "The money Bolton are throwing around for a player of his age, and a three-year deal at that, we couldn't get to that". Last season... “I would love to be their manager with that squad! I would win the league with that squad!". He's doing a good job at Orient, fair play but seems to forget he was manager of Salford when they were trying to buy L2.

I'd say both of you are similar to us, but no way cam we compete with that.

We’re about to announce a new signing. Looks like it’s Jay Bird who was at Arbroath last season - He’s a forward, ex MK Dons but seems to have had injuries.

Would imagine he’s back up to Cox, Alli and Magennis. The Scottish Championship is probably NL standard and he scored 10 goals, so not much to be excited about.

We need a review from our friends at Mansfield.
He is brilliant, let’s hope his injury has recovered after being kicked to death on Good Friday at Wrexham. Never played again after Good Friday.
He was supposed to be returning to us on a permanent.
Looks like money talks.

Bit of a sickener that one, he wanted to come back but we weren’t willing to meet Leicester valuation.

Brunt will almost definitely become a championship level player in a year or two, very much a player comfortable on the ball, will always want to receive the ball short so that does go against how Wrexham play but still a great signing, looks lightweight but seems to manage physically fine.

Is he a left footer? Parkinson loves a lefty at the back so imagine he'll be the left sided CB as he doesn't seem like a wingback.

Couldn’t even tell you because he’s so comfortable with both feet. He is absolutely quality to be honest, at centre back that is. Started the season with a few mistakes but just improved and improved. The only concern will be a clash of styles because you lot are a bit industrial to say the least!

Not surprise me if you’ve chucked half a million at him fee wise.

He was coming here until wrexham came in, fuckers!

It sounds like we more of less broke the bank for him but obviously can’t compete with all that at wrexham, it is what it is.

As others have said he’s a great player and will do well, damn it.

Wish him all the best.
