No longer all ticket Saturday home to Yeovil, stupid decision originally seemingly entirely off our own bat but now having heard the moaning common sense has prevailed. So expect bumper outing of Glovers to what must be one of your closest fixtures.

Any official numbers yet for Hatters at the Hive or Grecians at the county ground?

Hello chaps, regular poster but not yet bothered this season.
If this has been addressed before i apologise, but can someone please tell me the sudden huge increase in Grimsby away support? Every time i see the show on Channel 5 they take big numbers.
I know we are hardly a big away day but i recall maybe 350 maximum on the occasion we have played them. We haven't played them for 6 years so it'll be interesting to see how many they bring .
Like i say sorry if this has already been raised.
Also i came on to see the away followings as per the thread, what on earth is going on with that Mr Laybier character !!!

Last season was full allocation I believe, but there was problems last season in that they wanted everyone to sit down, but they couldn't and the aisles and front was full so everyone stood. Guess they have reduced it to try and make everyone sit.

I don't think we'll take anywhere near as many as we did last season to be honest. Last season was a bit of a novelty with it being a new ground for practically every Town fan, with it being the first time we've ever played there.

I doubt that we'll sell the 1000 allocation to be honest. About 6 or 700 would be my prediction but our away support always seems to surprise me, so who knows.

He's a Vale fan, Les. ;)

With regards to the upturn in our support, you have to trace it back to our match at FGR in 2014/15. One of our fans was ejected by a heavy handed steward via the means of a headlock. Shocking behaviour from the steward, who is actually a poster on this forum as it turns out. As a way of garnering some positivity from the ugly incident, the next away match was at Barnet and it was decided that it would be an inflatable themed day. Loads of fans turned up with inflatables, had a great day out and we beat them 3-1. This idea of themed away days continued for the rest of the season and galvanised the away support and helped push us to the playoff final, where Bristol Rovers bear us on Sudden Death pens. The away following have continued to be impressive ever since. I would expect things to tail off a bit this season, with it being our second season back up here. Plus we don't have Donny in the division, which gave our away average a massive boost last season as we took 4,000.

I was replying to Frealaf's post.

Quick heads up for the Carlisle and Luton fans, it's all ticket for you guys when you visit us in the near future.
You'll both be housed in the Stacey West stand. £18 for adults.

With the several million season tickets you've sold, what's the away allocation at Lincoln these days?

You'll get the stacey west matey so around 1800 for you guys.
Teams with smaller away support get half the stacey west around 1000.
Those who'll bring less than 400 get put in the crappy corner like Morecambe did on Saturday and then we home fans get that instead.
It's very complicated!

Glad you asked this Darren as I've been thinking the same. SOC has provided you with a very detailed timeline of events leading to this surge in away support but many on here would quite simply describe it as bandwagon fans.

These are the worst kind of fan. A fan that deserts their team in times of hardship and only return in times of success. Since their return to the league they've seen a sharp increase in attendances both home and away with a staggering amount of season tickets sold. The true test to see how far they've come as a fanbase will be if they can sell out the Stacey West stand this season...:shifty:

Cheers lads, we have GTFC on the 7th October, see how many come as like i said we not played them in years.
Also i'll watch out for the FGR mob, thought they were all friendly vegan pie munching friendly sorts !!
Incidentally our last promotion in 12/13 we topped the away averages even beating Braford who went up in the play-offs. It was a very Midland/ Northern league.
This time around we will be well down as we rarely travel in numbers further than 75 miles and we have at least 4 or 5 monster journeys.

I usually wait for the scholars to publish their citations on an Impish post before delving in.
