So Tranmere fans are calling for Adams to be sacked. Our fans for the first time are calling for Curle to be sacked.

Wanna swap? :D

In all seriousness, it's pointless sacking Curle now. We have by far the worst team in this league. We'll finish bottom regardless of who is in charge.

Big win for us (Mansfield) today, our home form is class ATM, if it wasn't for a dodgy last minute penalty for Northampton we'd have won 4 in a row, however P4 W3 D1 L0 reads very well and has given us a bit of breathing space for now.

Let's be honest though we and 7 others are still right in the thick of it, with the chance of others dropping in. The table will look very different again at 10PM on Tuesday, with other sets of fans claiming they're definitely going down.

I don't like it when Hartlepool pick up points, no offence to them but I don't want 2 relegation places up for grabs!

Micky had a brain fart today and did exactly what he did at York - and got exactly the same result. We need to get a grip and start being sensible again, but we are looking more and more like relegation certainties every game. A few are calling for Micky's head tonight, but with so few games to go there is no point. He doesn't help himself though - arrogant, stubborn, rude to the press daily, making stupid tactical decisions. He has been backed (by our recent standards) and he needs to start getting something from it.

That's really isn't something to boast about

Well there's a reason to hate us?

It can't be down to us being unrealistic, it can't be down to us being overly confident or cocky, so I was just interested really.

That comment about Mansfield from a Cheltenham fan.... i unlike you have seen both teams a fair few times this season and can't understand how cheltenham are in the football league. Im expecting us to win, but were awful away so who knows.

I think Carlisle will finish bottom with hartlepool just ahead of them.

I don't see how a Mansfield fan can claim Carlisle will finish bottom, apart from the first half in September when we smashed them for 3 goals they've been much the better side over the remaining minutes, I think they'll be fine. I fancy 2 of Hartlepool, Cheltenham and York.

Who wants to join us in non-league?

It's been apparent for a while that our inability to stop drawing and nick a few wins will put in serious trouble and lo and behold it has. Only way we're staying up is if we can stop drawing all the time but it's nearly March and we haven't stopped, looking pretty grim.

Can't really see what Curle could have done about today... Southend are just better than us, simple as that.

Considering our situation when he took over if we do manage to stay up (which is still a possibility however remote) he'll have done better than I thought any manager could possibly have done after Kavanagh got sacked. Had Kavanagh remained in charge we would already be mathematically relegated.

I have to agree with you about us finishing bottom, I've been saying it for weeks, although I have this feeling that Moore might just get Hartlepool out of it. So at the moment I'd have Carlisle to finish bottom with Hartlepool surviving by the skin of their teeth at Cheltenham's expense.

Very difficult to remain optimistic following 4 consecutive defeats, but I still think we'll stay up. Need to beat the teams around us, as it's apparent we can't beat the top sides, 1 point out of a possible 42 against the current top 8.

Cheltenham at home on Tuesday is a must win, but they've picked up 4 points in their last 2 games so should be a tough game.

A few fans on here are certain their team is going to get relegated, only 2 can go down though.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
to be fair Carlisle are in a position i'd been happy with come the start of Feb, we had a horrendous month and none of the bottom sides would have got much from our Feb, the big thing was to be still within the rest, i expected bottom 2, but we just needed to be within chasing of the rest of the teams nad we are in that position, we've an easier run of games now coming up where we have a chance to push on.

the worry over feb is our manager who is making more and more strange decisions, This month could have been a great time to try and gel the team, a month with little expectation, no pressure, we could have got a settled side and got ready for this big run of games, instead we swap, change, mess about, set something then ditch it etc, etc

It's easily done with a win.

Cheltenham hadn't won in several months or so, won yesterday and are now back out of the relegation zone.

We are away in the next 2 games so will inevitably lose both, so we will be right back in it.

Our only saving grace is, I don't know how this stacks up against the other teams down the bottom but we've now played six of the top eight twice. Only Burton away and Plymouth at home to come. Our record against the top eight is dreadful as Cufc17 says, just one point.

The good news is that our record against the rest of the division is Played 19, Won 10, Drew 2, Lost 7

We just need to get shot of Spiegel because he is costing us goals. I would go so far as to say we can't expect to win any games while he is in goal.

If we were to divide our form into two groups as I've done above, and apply it to our remaining fixtures, then we'll get zero points from our two remaining top-eight games, but would pick up 6 wins 1 draw and 4 defeats in the rest of our games. That would leave us on 52 points, which might be cutting it close this season, but could well be enough to survive.

There are two massive assumptions there though. We still have two games against teams just outside the top 8, Stevenage and Northampton... they could well be top-eight teams by the time we play them. Having said that, the contrast between our form against the current top 8 and the rest is quite stark, even though some of those weren't top 8 when we played them, so it seems to be those particular teams who currently also happen to be in the top 8 that we struggle against rather than just whoever happens to be in the top 8 when we play them. We did in fact beat Stevenage and Northampton earlier in the season and our form against teams sitting 9th to 14th is P7 W5 D1 L1.

The even bigger assumption is that our current run of poor form is more to do with the quality of the opposition we have played than our own performances, and anyone who has seen any of our recent performances knows there is more to it than this. Three of our four defeats have been, admittedly to quality opposition, but also the result of a shocking displays from ourselves (we were actually the better team for most of the game against Shrewsbury). We'll find out on Tuesday whether we can still expect to do well against non-top-8 opposition. Lose to Cheltenham at home and all this 'we're only dreadful against the top 8' goes out the window and we just have to admit that we're dreadful full-stop. Beat them and we can perhaps look forward to winning more games than we lose for the remainder of the season.

The third assumption I didn't mention, is that based on past form we will draw one of those remaining games, but that's looking at form for the whole season. We haven't drawn in 26 games now, our games feature too many goals (at both ends) for draws to be likely so you could say that one draw I predicted is more likely to be either defeat or victory, which means rather than 52 points, we'll be on either 51 or 54 points.

Hartlepool only 6 points from safety... They didn't look too bad against us and won yesterday...

Is it too little to late? 6 point gap from 13 games isn't too impossible

Well put it this way; if we're talking 6 wins out of our remaining 13 games, then Hartlepool are talking 8 wins in 13, as well as an extra draw because of their terrible goal difference. So yes, i'd still say it is too late for them, barring some remarkable form.

You've left Oxford out matey. They're still in it as far as I'm concerned, especially if they produce a few performances like they did at ours. And York too.

Incredibly, bookies are still offering 4/1 odds on us going down. Get on it, they are literally giving away free money. I've just put £50 on it, adding to my previous bets when we were as far as 11/1.

My conference season ticket (if I decide to renew, still in 2 minds) is already paid for by this.

We're probably the only club in the football league where more of our fans put money on us to go down before the season starts than to go up.

I would never do it before the season starts. I only do it once I've seen a good portion of the season to assess the shite.

I've stopped betting, as I got fed up of losing money, but I never used to bet on the promotion or relegation markets. Except last year when I backed Luton for the title but only around late October or early November iirc. That way you get better odds.

I backed us on New Years Day when we won it. We were about 10th at the time!
