Easter weekend will decide a lot of things. Crucial momentum can be gained or lost over them two quick games. And then you're looking at a 5 game run in.

Easter fixtures

York vs Cheltenham
Cheltenham vs Stevenage

Stevenage vs Tranmere
Tranmere vs Luton

Newport vs Hartlepool
Hartlepool vs Southend

Carlisle vs Portsmouth
Accrington vs Carlisle

York vs Cheltenham
Oxford vs York

Cambridge vs Bury
Northampton vs Cambridge

I'm not including Mansfield just yet. If they pick up nothing over Easter then we'll take another look.

I'd say Hartlepool need to be careful that they don't assume they've done their job already as they are two hard games. York vs Cheltenham is huge and I'd bank on the draw there. In fact, York have a golden chance to get out of it. Two wins and they're fine I think. Tranmere will want at least a win there, Carlisle the same.
Hmm. I'd say we need more than just a win. Anything less than six points over Easter and we can kiss goodbye to the Football League.

It's looking increasingly like ourselves and Tranmere will be the ones to go down... That's a familiar feeling, at least the ignomy of two successive relegations won't be ours alone.

The reality is finally hitting home to other Carlisle fans then?

Absolutely bloody brilliant stuff from Hartlepool, how Ronnie Moore has turned them around has been unbelievable, if they stay up now there's a serious argument for him to be manager of the season (between him and Ainsworth, obviously).

As for the rest, gutted to see Cheltenham seemingly headed for the trap door at the moment. Two wins in twenty-four or something like that? Milton hasn't had the desired effect, and I suppose it's all basically stemmed from getting shot of Yates, which looks an increasingly awful decision by the week. I know he wasn't having a good time there, but he would've seen them safe. Can't quite believe how Tranmere are STILL doing either, although that equaliser this afternoon could be invaluable in just over a month or so's time. And then just when you think York are sleepwalking towards it, they pull out a result like that.

This is going down to the final day.

We're still 4th bottom HG, I think Cheltenham are much worse than us, and Tranmere are slightly worse than us.

Hartlepool have to lose at some point - think away to Newport next Friday, and they might lose all confidence.

York to be fair got a great result today, but they've had a couple already this season which they don't seem to build upon.
They're definitely still in it.

Cambridge are dropping and dropping but their decent start to the season should see them safe.

Cheltenham and Tranmere/Hartlepool to go down.

Clocks forward, Carlisle have just edged an hour forward to potential relegation.

From reading reports, Tranmere should have won the game. The performance was good (from what I've read). That equaliser could be the turning point for them so I expect them to pick up some results now.

Cheltenham are the only team that I think we have a chance of finishing above, but even they are capable of forking out a win and a few draws to go above us.

Call me negative all you want, but I've watched this shower of shite all season and I've not seen anything to suggest that we won't finish bottom.

Curle will go when relegation is confirmed. It's a big job for someone and we have to get the appointment right this time. We have to start rebuilding and aim to get back within a couple of years. If we get the appointment wrong (again) we could end up drifting down the leagues like Stockport have.

Not really true. It was an average game. Without a screamer they would have gone all night without scoring. Tranmere look like they have no belief. Their new Everton loaner is decent though.

This Friday York could all but save themselves with a home win. Tranmere away at Stevenage looks tough as well. Carlisle fans on here are a miserable bunch. cheer up you are not going down.

We had most of the play but didn't look like scoring. George green might keep us up on his own, what a signing he is.

I'll get £582 compensation when we are relegated. At least that will more than cover my conference season ticket.

How much did you stick on it?
I can't even remember to be honest. I did at the very start of the season with big odds, I've since put a couple more on during the season.

I'll log into my accounts to find out, I only know my returns because I wrote it in my notes on my phone.

Pleased that Hartlepool have got out, Cheltenham and Tranmere/York can come down purely for travelling distances. Hartlepool and Carlisle would have been rubbish, particularly with Barrow looking like they'll be promoted as well.

While Carlisle were very poor in both games against us the're not close to the worst team on current form, looking at that you would put money on Cheltenham and Tranmere. While I guess it's human nature to fear the worst the stats suggest you could well stay up.

Exactly. We didn't even do too badly in March, in fact it was probably one of the very very few months this season which give any sort of reason for optimism. Beat Cheltenham, beat Northampton, played well against Morecambe and only dropped 2 points because of a blatant dive. Of course there'll be plenty of terrible performances because we are on the whole a pretty bad team, but we're 3 points clear of the drop still and have a few games where we should be picking up points. Cheltenham and Hartlepool will go down.

I just wonder if Cambridge could drop into the mix, they seem to have been going backwards ever since getting knocked out of the cup ?

We've won just once in sixteen games. I wouldn't rule us out.

However, we only really need a few more points to be out of it, so should be fine.

Did some predictions based on each club's remaining fixtures

Mansfield: Southend (A) L, Shrewsbury (H) L, Plymouth (A) L, Tranmere (H) L, Cambridge (A) D, Portsmouth (H) L, Accrington (A) D-47

Cambridge: Bury (H) L, Northampton (A) L, Accrington (H) W, Cheltenham (A) L, Mansfield (H) D, Oxford (A) L, Burton (H) L-48

York: Cheltenham (H) L, Oxford (A) L, Hartlepool (H) D, Morecambe (H) W, Shrewsbury (A) L, Newport (H) W, Portsmouth (A) L-48

Carlisle: Portsmouth (H) D, Accrington (A) L, Dagenham (H) W, Burton (A) L, Plymouth (H) L, Stevenage (A) D, Hartlepool (H) D-47

Hartlepool: Newport (A) D, Southend (H) L, York (A) D, Accrington (H) W, Luton (A) L, Exeter (H) W, Carlisle (A) D-48

Tranmere: Stevenage (A) D, Luton (H) W, Southend (A) L, Mansfield (A) W, Oxford (H) W, Plymouth (A) L, Bury (H) L-48

Cheltenham:
York (A) W, Stevenage (H) D, Wycombe (A) L, Cambridge (H) W, Northampton (A) D, Shrewsbury (H) D, Wimbledon (A) D -47 points

So I think it'll go down to goal difference between ourselves, Carlisle and Mansfield. Mansfield are by no means safe, they have a really tough run in.

Of course there are lots of factors. Most teams when scrapping pick up unexpected results so it probably won't be anything like this but as of now these are my predictions.

Ok, my shot at it

Mansfield: Southend (A) L, Shrewsbury (H) D Plymouth (A) L, Tranmere (H) W Cambridge (A) D, Portsmouth (H) D Accrington (A) L 51

Cambridge: Bury (H) L, Northampton (A) L, Accrington (H) W, Cheltenham (A) D Mansfield (H) D, Oxford (A) L, Burton (H) L-49

York: Cheltenham (H) D Oxford (A) D Hartlepool (H) L Morecambe (H) W, Shrewsbury (A) L, Newport (H) D Portsmouth (A) L-47

Carlisle: Portsmouth (H) D, Accrington (A) L, Dagenham (H) W, Burton (A) L, Plymouth (H) W Stevenage (A) L Hartlepool (H) L 48

Hartlepool: Newport (A) L Southend (H) D York (A) W Accrington (H) W, Luton (A) L, Exeter (H) D Carlisle (A) W 50

Tranmere: Stevenage (A) L Luton (H) D Southend (A) L, Mansfield (A) L Oxford (H) W Plymouth (A) L, Bury (H) D 43

Cheltenham:
York (A) D Stevenage (H) D, Wycombe (A) L, Cambridge (H) W, Northampton (A) L Shrewsbury (H) L Wimbledon (A) L 42 points

So I guess looking at that I'm expecting both Tranmere and Cheltenham to tail away from the rest.

Our only hope is Cheltenham and Tranmere remain wank.

Our next 3 are Southend (A), Shrews (H) and Plymouth (A). We won't win any of those. After that we play Tranmere (H) and Cambridge (A). I can see us needing 6 points from those 2 at this rate.

If we can get 3 points in the next 2 games then i think that's an achievement. We'll do it the Mansfield way and take the long way round to guaranteed survival.

I think it does depend on a lot of factors. For example if we went into the Wimbledon game needing a win and they had nothing to play for I'd probably fancy us, Tranmere I have a feeling will get themselves out of it and start to pick up.

Quite a few of our fans have this thinking that we'll automatically bounce back at the first attempt next season.

I don't know what planet they are on. Most of our players are in the first years of 2 year contracts. This shower of shite isn't sunday morning pub league standard never mind conference standard!

It took us 8 years to get back. Its a nightmare down there. Theres always one or two tinpot clubs who have a benefactor and throw money at it. Its not a place to rely on 'playing football', you need some steel aswell. In reality an upper mid-table league 2 level of quality should just about get you back up.

You've just explained how to get out of the conference, to a Carlisle fan....they did it at the first attempt after going down with us.
