Nah, wasn't us.
Our winning run was January, which took us up the table before tumbling.
I have removed that season from my memory.

York made a cracking effort around that time. Don’t think they won a game after Christmas. Macclesfield did the something similar the season they went down
We really need someone to do that. At the moment the only feasible options we look like catching are Morecambe and Macc, but the latter are obviously in good form.
I suppose it isn’t beyond the realms that someone between Newport, on 39, and Vale on 32, could enter a catastrophic slump - but we’d still need to win a few to even catch them!
Think the team was York in 2003-04.

Newport probably only need 3 wins in my opinion, and unless they get totally side-tracked by the FA Cup, I feel that they will be safe. We however are very much in the mix and need at least 16 points from somewhere. I wouldn't be looking any higher than Grimsby to be dragged in, and think 48 points should be the aim to survive.
We have key games against Cambridge, Cheltenham, Notts, Morecambe, Yeovil and Macc to come.
At the moment it is looking bad for Notts and Morecambe, but a couple of results and it could all change.
That sounds about right. Just hope we can replicate the Crawley performance a few times and not the Bristol one.If we can get 3 or 4 points from next 3 games we should be set up to go into that run of fixtures knowing 3 wins probably does it for us from them.
At which point I lumped on the 25/1 available for relegation and had a nice summer holiday to cheer myself up.We were the 14th. Had just beaten Port Vale (last win of the season) after 8 games without a win. Still only 8 points off the play-offs at that point.

Thought it was. Bloody hard league that year as well. Back in the days of terry Dolan.
Conference north for them now, eek!
Thats what i just said ,never jealous of forest ,how can you even put notts or spierites in the same sentence forest at that time were a class apart ,your lot and spierites well you were buggerations thats all
Im not thats the point i dont think mansfield has any no go areas like bestwood estate ,the meadows ,st anns
Hull and Huddersfield playing each other in front of crowds of 20 odd thousand.
Donny straight up from the conference and going up again as champions.
Your young side (correct me if I am wrong) thrown together in spite of your odious chairman, scoring for fun under Curle.
Pesky old Torquay with small crowds and a small budget but a very good side under Leroy Rosenior.
Northampton turned around a horrendous start to make the top seven and then there was Alexander's Lincoln.
Yeovil were not far off
There was also Swansea as well who were starting to build a decent team.
Scunthorpe had a bizzare off season where they went from promotion hopefuls to finishing 22nd despite looking half decent until around Christmas and made the FA Cup 5th round.
Even Carlisle, relegated in 23rd looked dead and buried at Christmas, but gained 40 points in the second half of the season, that is some doing.
We finished 12th, most seasons a team in mid table has a chance of a late surge and pushing for the playoffs, that was never going to happen to us, the top 9/10 were too good.
From a fan point of view and unremarkable season, but observing as a neutral it was a cracker.
Mansfield hasn’t got any “no go” areas because no one wants to go there.

Not many away will fans will be going to meadow lane in the conference either, heyho
Well we’ve had over 100 years of good numbers coming to the Lane so can’t really complain too much on that score chap
Out of interest when Mansfield Town FC were playing in non league football what was the lowest away following that occupied the away section for a league game ? Are we talking a coach full or more like a dozen taxis ? You should know after all ;p

Histon had a following of 8 in 2010/2011 I believe. Probably that. Imagine County will have some similar followings if/when you go down, and they will look crazy in that massive stand you have. Because you are a massive club. With massive home crowds.

The thing is, the likes of Grays and Histon are very small clubs for the National League. For both reaching that level of football was the pinnacle of achievement for them. Look where they are now!
In the current National League line-up, I'd say that only Braintree are as small a club as those two and their chances of competing in the National League next season look pretty small despite us giving them 3 points last weekend.
To be honest i would not be surprised if notts closed a couple of stands when they go down ,chesterfield have closed one stand i think ,so with the capacity at meadow lane it would make financial sense ,so you should really savour the sight of the staggies in full voice next month because you wont see many more big away supports
Spennymoor, Bradford PA, Welling Utd and Concord Rangers are all small clubs by National League standards but Chelmsford City are a different proposition entirely. Historically they were one of the big Southern League clubs pre-Alliance Premier League days and they applied for election to the Football League a few times in the 1960s and 70s.Very true, though the conference north playoffs currently feature spenneymoor town and Bradford PA (with their 1 stand) and the south with Chelmsford city, welling Utd - concord rangers are giving it a go as well!
Personally I’ve seen dozens of clubs pack out a large Notts away so it’s kinda lost it’s thrill . From Manchester City all the way down to Mansfield . As you know Stags do it every season , in fact they bring more to the Lane than they get at the Mill . Funny that haha
At least this time you can add ‘going down’ chant to the two obligatory repetitive songs you usually sing . Will be a horrible experience for the Pies in attendance but that’s football . Defeat and having the piss taking out of you by Mansfield Flipping Town ! It’s so tragic it’s almost funny .

The fascinating thing is out of the two relegated sides, Carlisle's form almost exactly mirrored York's, no wins and 5 points from their first 21 games, then showing play-off form to almost survive - it was clearly one escape attempt too many for them.
Conversely, York had 39 points from their first 26 games (and won their first four!) and only 5 points from 20 to end up with a similar points total but with a much more demoralized squad. No surprise that Carlisle went back up at the first attempt, and York took 8 seasons to return.
Probably the strongest ever 4th division I’ve seen was madness. Remember winning 1-0 at Hull late on and then their fans trying to break down the doors to the away end (we were most greatful to be locked in) or the 3-1 win at Huddersfield.
Curle was our manager then, it ended up with us playing Northampton on the last game of the season then again 2 more times in the playoffs before losing to Huddersfield on penalties after having a fair last minute goal disallowed (said had gone out of play when sky showed it didn’t)
I seem to remember Huddersfield beating Lincoln in the semis with some really dodgy offside decision at Huddersfield
