Linked with the goal scoring Torquay keeper... and Vale have just tweeted in Portuguese (hes from Brazil)

Finally get to see Carlos Saleiro come back and take the English league by storm like Norm promised us.

In reality it’ll be Covolan. If Ryan Johnson comes too at least we’d know we’d have a defence good enough to make the Conference playoff final.

Good keeper but cocky as fuck. I felt for Torquay but not for him the way he acted during the pens gesturing exactly where he wanted his statue to be built.

His daft c*** antics during the penners made that win even more sweeter, hope he does sign for Port Vale, Town End will give him a great reception.

Surprised Clarke didnt go for Liam Roberts he seemed to rate him here.

To be honest that was my biggest concern if we were just going to raid Walsall this summer. Thankfully apart from I believe we did speak to Josh Gordon but seemingly he wanted more than DC valued him at we’ve left alone on that.

Covolan confirmed on a two year deal. Don’t know much about him other than his antics in the playoff final or whether he’s good at the actual day job keeping them out but we’ll see.

We have signed Josh Cogley. A right back released from Birmingham and was on loan at Crawley last season. Any good Casey?

I assume you will be getting an upgrade on your keeper or we might just send him up front to win a header while your custodian punches fresh air again.

It was a good header and a moment that makes football but our keeper throws his cap on it had he not had a rush of blood to the head, he played well on Sunday Covolan, kept out three gilt edged chances, looks like a steady signing for you, he's still a prize twat though.

To be honest if he’s a bit of a bellend then that’s a good thing as far as I’m concerned. We’ve been far too nice on the pitch as a team the last few years so I would welcome that change.

Could tell DC wanted more shithousing from our nice boys last season and have no issue with it purely as everyone else does it and rather than moaning we need to do the same! Sounds a character you'll love if hes your player but hate if not.

I thought the Torquay keeper Vale have now signed looked decent. While the way things turned out made him look a bit daft, think some of the criticism for the way he was trying to fire himself and team-mates up during the shoot-out was a tad harsh.

He's not. One of the nicest guys you're ever likely to meet, hugely popular with the other players. Think he was just over hyped on Sunday after the goal and got a bit carried away.

He's a typical larger than life Brazilian and we'll be sorry to see him go but he's been inconsistent here, maybe because Johnson rotated his keepers for a while. Since he made the position his own in about March he's been superb.

Sure, fire your team mates up and your fans, they just equalised in the 95th minute of a final, adrenaline must've been overflowing, it was his antics at the penalties 30 minutes later that pissed everyone off, shit talking our players walking up to take them, still talking shit on his line, it's apart of the game to unsettle the oppo, I get it, but when you end up on the losing side after it, your fair game for abuse.

Ryan Taylor gone to grimsby,
Liam Shepherd, gone to salford
would have liked shepherd to re-sign! but we have already signed his replacement, so no great loss really.

Why would I cry at you signing a couple of our 4th choice players?

We're now making new and better signings to get us out of this league.

I too believe that Carlisle will be out of this league next season.

Ha, I didn't see anything wrong with it - it was only when I came on here I saw people moaning. Since Grobelaar did his jelly legs thing, keepers have always tried to put penalty takers off - just seemed like he was having a bit of a laugh. And he probably wasn't that arsed either, knowing he had a L2 club lined up...

Don't mind that, wasn't it Dorus De Fries for Swansea who used to scream at the opponents taking a penalty against them?

Trying to think if he will be the first Brazillian to play for the Vale... We had the Colombian Cafu in Montano but this must be the first from Brazil, the Port Vale Brasil fan club (does exist!) will be going nuts!

We had two Argentinians on the books - Augustus Corpa and Casco Rinaldi way back in 1939.... only about 50 years before Ardiles and Villa were at Spurs

McGreal has come out with a cryptic ‘message to the fans’ statement today.

Says the club has signed 6 players but cannot announce them because of the ongoing court case. Here’s his words

‘The club are currently not in a position to announce these signings due to the ongoing court case regarding the ownership of Swindon Town.’

Can’t make head nor tail of it, tbh.

We’re now looking at buying/signing Northampton striker Harry Smith.

Always thought he was a handful to play against, goal record not great though.

Jackett wants a target man striker.

Does Gareth Barry still have some kind of involvement? I wonder if his nephew Brad Barry might be one of the signings as it seems less likely he's going to stay on here.

Looks like GK Nathan Bishop is set to sign on loan from Manchester United - Oldham, Exeter, Tranmere, and Carlisle all interested.

If we manage to move on Stech, we basically require three new goalkeepers, I’m guessing Bishop is set to be our new #1 - a position we desperately need to get right for the first time in years.

Sounds like we are in talks with cardiff city for max waters! his stats are pretty impressive for our level, what are your thoughts crawley fans.
Sorry, been off the forum for a while.

Watters is a strange one. What he did with us would suggest he is miles to good for league 1 & 2 but he was released by Doncaster and then Maidstone were waffling about signing him before we stepped in. Didn't have a pre season so we had to manage his fitness but he ripped through defences and scored something like 14 goals in 16 games before we sold him to Cardiff for over a £million. Crawley fans would be hanging out the bunting if we resigned him.
We have signed Josh Cogley. A right back released from Birmingham and was on loan at Crawley last season. Any good Casey?
Signed on loan from Brum season before last and promptly broke his leg. When he rejoined after Xmas the right side of our defence looked solid. Nothing spectacular just did his job and he gave a good account of himself going forward too. Would have been happy if he had resigned for us.

I didn't recognise his name without the "Dacres" bit in the middle

Grayson was pretty decent when he was here, I feel like he’s pretty injury prone though
