We were linked with him but doubt we’d offer more than a 1 year deal although the length of his Sutton contract kept secret. Some hysterical over-reaction on a Rovers forum to being beaten to a signing by Sutton. He is the kind of player we need, don’t have any out and out wingers on the books atm.

We’re a little secretive on details of pretty much every signing. Nothing sinister, just the way we do things. Although a 2 year deal wouldn’t surprise me, it also wouldn’t be a shock if it’s a one year deal but with the option of a second and the possibility of more playing time.

Boldewijin did work with our manager Matt Gray at Crawley, which may have been a factor.

That seems like a nice addition for Sutton. From the handful of times have seen Boldewijn he seems your typical L2 winger - sometimes a nightmare to play against and sometimes just disappears. He impressed me more at Crawley than when saw him for Notts but granted that’s only a small snapshot.

Because he was still contracted?
So if we didn't buy him, he would have sat on the bench and you would still have had to pay him. I think you guys knew that we have had a few windfalls and thought we could afford it.

Our Head Coach, in a newspaper article, has said that we are done with regards to new players coming in...which must make us one of the most economical in the division, four midfielders and a forward in on loan.

Newport have signed Courtney Senior - not a bad signing on a one-year deal. He has all the potential in the world and, on his day, is as unplayable as a lower league winger can be with bags of tricks and the ability to waltz past players with ease. If he could improve the end product and add some consistency then he'd have the ability to play at a higher level.

However, he is 24 now and for the past 18 months or so he seems to have been regressing, he's been abysmal. Two years ago I would have thought he could have gone for a decent transfer fee, so it was disappointing to see him leave for free but, on the other hand, I wouldn't have been surprised if he struggled to get another league club.

Worth a punt for one year though to see if a fresh start can rediscover the form he used to show.

So we're likely run with a 21 man squad then, given our DoF said last month the plan was to send the 3 academy lads out on loan this season, Of those 21 a couple are still pretty inexperienced as well (Allen and Evans) so probably be a core squad of 19.

Overall not much depth in defence and an average age of 23.6, but we do have a lot of midfielders. We'll need to be lucky with injuries and suspensions and hope someone other then Matt can get a few goals. With Collins leaving, it means none of the rest of our squad managed double figures last season, be that for us or other clubs.

Micky Mellon has never really used wingers that much. I take no notice of alleged incomings on twitter sites mostly.
He sort of flirts with them, the likes of Tollitt, Smith, Pringle and CBT in and out of Micky’s teams. However the current squad is lacking in pace.

I don’t really follow Twitter, just the 3 fan forums.

Someone at Pools remembered we kick off in about a month, Gary Liddle and Nicky Featherstone both sign new contracts, we're almost at 11 players now.

2 year for Feaths, think that might be a year too long?

Its a certainty that some of the more industrial full backs in League 2 will happily give him a punt.

He seems to prefer a lone striker with two playing slightly behind.
Twitter is extremely unsavoury for the most part. Avoid it forever.

We seem to be close to signing Callum McManaman which would be one hell of a signing. He fits in the pacy winger/forward category for sure!

Surprised at that, considering Liddle only got a year, but then again he’s a bit older.
Feath has been great since DC came in,but was dreadfull in League Two.
It’ll be interesting to see if he can keep up the level of his recent performances.

That was my concern, he's been unreal in the league below but he's playing against a bunch of stiffs most weeks, he wont get half as much time on the ball as he did, deserves another shot at league footy, hope he delivers.

Lawrence Vigouroux has signed a new 2 year deal with us:

Over the moon, I doubt we'll find a better all round keeper at this level. Superb news.

Huge re-signing! Best keeper in the division now Hladky has fucked off from Salford.

We aren't the same pushovers as we have been in the past in the transfer window and a few clubs wanted Sam. It wouldn't have made sense to not look for a fee in that scenario.

Losing £250,000 a month and £16m in debt. Winky has done a fine job.

very nice, fair play to him for sticking around too.

i think it's shaping up to be a very interesting season, there's a handful of teams who didn't worry the top of the table last year who are all doing good business/smart manager appointments.
