Hmmm. Am I right in thinking that this is a bit of a faux pas for Doncaster? That you can't extend a loan outside a transfer window, as per the new rules?

It isn't a loan just a short term contract due to our unfortunate injury crisis

From what I've seen if he learnt a bit more composure in the box he'd be one of our top scorers and easily be on par with McGeehan

He gets into great positions with his pace, power and skill, but unfortunately does not have the killer instinct in front of goal at all (probably not surprising considering he started as a central defender I guess).

Not sure if you can coach that in but if he could improve he would easily get double figures yeah.

Heard this evening we've signed another striker, again from the Belgian league, he's from Ghana - But he has only ever played 3 competitive games.

Scott Kashket will also leave tomorrow as well.

Not sure how accurate all this is though, so take it with a pinch of salt. I'm off to look for Ghanian strikers who played in the Belgian top flight last season on Fifa, to try and narrow the search down.........:conf:

Brad Halliday signed from Middlesbrough on a long term deal for an undisclosed fee. Accrington and Hartlepool fans - thoughts?

He was one of our many loan signings from that season and I seriously have no recollection of him apparently playing 6 times for us that season.

We've also signed Bradley Fewster (Boro) and Tom Heardman (Mags) on six month loan deals, probably means we're gonna flog Nathan Thomas by the end of the day.

Luton apparently getting Alex Gilliead on loan. We had him all last season. Great player on his day, can go past players with ease. Only problem is his days are like 1 every 5. On an off day he's a passenger as he's not up for the tough stuff at all, fannies out of tackles etc.

He became more of an impact sub which is I imagine what he'll be for Luton. Good one to have though as he's a game changer.

Could turn out to be one of our best signings of the summer, especially if a renewed partnership with Mingoia can sort out our defensive failures on the right. Another ginge. Highly rated by York fans as well as Accrington.

"An absolutely outstanding player who had the splash of quality none of our other players at the time had.

Gave 100% week in week out and scored a great goal away at Pompey on the last day of the 2014/15 season.

Did tend to get stuck in a bit too much leading to a few yellows (and a red but that was a mistake by the referee) and if he has signed for Cambridge United I would get the bunting out if I were a U's fan.

I would have walked in my bare feet all the way to Middlesbrough to bring him back to York but, to be honest, he was just too good for us.

Amazed Boro have let him go as I thought he'd be another Ben Gibson, but I suppose the Premier League is a different beast to the Championship.

Rugged, no-nonsense player.

Just the sort you need when the chips are down.

Seem to remember him coming on against us in your comeback here last season and causing a few problems. He is a winger isn't he?

I'd imagine he would be a back up for if we want to change things as we currently don't have an out and out winger at the club and prefer playing a diamond midfield.

He's a winger, but funnily enough I actually think his best position is at the top of the diamond behind the strikers. He's got quick feet, he's fast and in that position there's less defensive responsibility which he's shit at.

Thinking about it, I assume if he joins you it's on the basis that he'll get regular football. Newcastle rate him highly, they've recently gave him a new long term contract and will want him to get plenty of game time.

All I read is that they're competing with us to get him, nothing said they'll certainly get him.

Wasn't sure why Luton were suddenly an option given I'd assumed it was a choice between coming back to us or going League 1, and we have the advantages of proximity and familiarity for the lad but if Luton are specifically looking for a player to start games in his position then that could be it.

And still the rumours fly about the midfielder signing for Crawley.
Michael Essian was at the game last night signing autographs. Could he be signing a contract today? He is a free agent.
Another rumour says no as we are getting an international player who is currently contracted elsewhere.
Whoever it is I hope it is a powerful midfielder as we are definitely lacking in the middle.

Gilliead to Luton confirmed.

I liked him last season, sometimes went missing in games but has great potential. I'd have liked him back here as another attacking option but he wouldn't be a guaranteed starter this season.

I'd have had Gilliead back, but the way Lambe Adams and Devitt are playing we can live without him.

If you can get consistency out of Gilliead, he'll be one of the best players in this league.

We've signed Paul Garita from Bristol City on loan, striker, that's about all I know.

I see Exeter have signed Luke Croll on loan from Palace. Possibly the worst defender I've seen in an Argyle shirt. Made Kelvin Mellor look like Rio Ferdinand.

Are you just going by the rumours or is there something new that's come out?

I will admit that bringing in the kid from Newcastle does make you think that we are preparing to lose at least one midfielder but Jones did say yesterday that Ruddock and McGeehan would not be moving today.

Thought this kid was a winger but now HG has said he can play at the tip of a diamond that makes me think McGeehan might be on his way. If so then I hope it's for a decent fee.

Either. He played mostly on the right for us, but he also played as an attacking midfielder and even as a striker. I do think his best position is attacking mid behind the striker(s). As I say he's shit at the tackling and tracking back side of things so the less he has to do of that the better.

Interestingly Luton have announced him as an attacking midfielder.

Arnold Garita joins our long list of strikers. We now have Spencer, Slew, Goodwillie, Rooney, Garita, Brunt and Jervis. Luke Croll was terrible last season. Adams sent him back after 3 games.

Just have the feeling he's going to force a move through.

I hope Gilliead starts for Luton, he'll fit neatly into our defence's back pocket when we play them assuming he hasn't improved too much over summer. He had a couple of good games for us but also a lot of average ones, and his best game was actually against a late-30s full back who was only in due to injuries.

I find it strange that he'd go to Luton though as I assume they'll have promised him some first team football, but if we weren't willing to offer him that then I can't see how another promotion hopeful could. He needs to sort out his defensive work and get to a consistent level of effort and then maybe he'll be a first team player.

Maybe so, but Jones was pretty adamant last night that there wouldn't be any departures and he specifically said that the players were not putting pressure on the club to let them go.

"We have a fantastic board here and the chief exec, Gary [Sweet], has been outstanding and we won't be losing any players in the transfer window.

"We've been very strong but that's the club we have here. We have a lot of desirable young players, well, players, because of how we do our work, so no-one will be going.

"I can't say categorically [that no player will leave] because you never know. If someone comes in with £20 million for Craig King then we might have to listen to it.

"What we're talking about, is that we're in a position that we don't have to sell. We've spoken to the people that have had enquiries about them and they want to be here. They see what we're doing, they believe their progression is here, so do the people that look after them, so we're in a very, very good position."

McGeehan especially seems a very smart kid who has spoken about looking at himself as a business. He recognises that the smart move for him at the moment is to stay somewhere he is going to get 1st team football every week.

I hope you're right. But if I was in his position to move up two divisions, into a new stadium next year and potentially trebling+ his wages, my head would certainly be turned!
