Non-league would be my honest guess. Depends whether he wants to resurrect his career starting games lower down te ladder or bench warming in the FL. Someone will be willing to take him on in League Two plainly for the fact he comes with the Crewe academy graduate tag. A tag which lulled us in to think we'd got an absolute steal last year...we were very wrong!

Told all your fans 12 months ago he was finished. So unfit, so slow, so lacking in confidence. Our sentimental fans who always get upset when an Academy graduate goes thought it was a terrible decision at the time but 4 goals in his last 18 months at Crewe was unacceptable!

Was so surprised you signed him, thought he'd end up somewhere like Cheltenham or York!

Accy have apparently signed Sean McConville. And paid a fee for him.

Whatever the qualms being felt elsewhere (skintness at Newport, declaring war on Albania at Lorient, bad carrot harvest at Yeovil, fear of Alphabetical Order at York) - that's one relegation slot nailed down!

There's been nothing in our local news hinting Tubb wants out or we are looking to offload, curious to know where the rumours are coming from?

Speculation really, but he's not a Paul Cook player. He likes people who demand the ball, are prepared to work hard and be brave to win it, a lone striker who will put himself about with attacking players behind him, and encourages goals from all over the place. Absolutely none of which are Matt Tubbs.

I can't see him getting many games at Pompey and his wages are too decent for a squad player.

Based on absolutely nothing. We'd only just signed Akinfenwa at this time last year and Tubbs was yet to come.
I know its based on nothing, but it just seems that everyone else is announcing players, and it feels like we leave it till the last moment, as I said in my post I'm not knocking the club, I travelled 12,000 miles to see them last season, had a great couple of days, just not the win I wanted. Enjoy the season, I still reckon that a 8-12 finish is what we will be this season. When you see them give my regards to Tom and Meadow, hard working volunteers. Cheers Wombling Kiwi

He was ok for us, but of all our players to leave he was the one we all weren't too bothered about.

Ok defensively, but offered little going forward and struggled against anyone who was half decent, Carl Baker gave him the runaround when we beat Coventry 3-2 in the League Cup and he's been a squad player ever since - Albeit a decent squad player for us. Don't play him at Centre back though FFS!

He is playing for Adams now, so I would imagine he would have to prove himself, or find himself looking for another club if he is not up to par

Really? Would've thought a striker like Tubbs would be first name on the team sheet for every club at this level

Just had a quick look on Hartlepool's bunker forum and some of their fans seem to think Paynter has been good enough for us, but we're trying to offload him purely because his face doesn't fit.

Keep telling yourselves that lads! :2thumb:

I'd say when fit he's better than his one goal in two seasons suggest. He arrived unfit and took a long time to become fit, and then found his chances limited. If he doesn't have these problems at Hartlepool he could be good enough for them... probably better than Harewood was for them at least.

Paynter is just so far past it though at this stage, and at his peak he was only ever a good League 1 player. I think he belongs in the Conference now and anyone who opts to sign him after the season he's just had probably does as well.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
Paynter can still be fine for Hartlepool, it just depends if they get more out of him than we did as we clearly failed miserably in that regard.

After Kev Grey going from Tranmeres worst ever player to one of our best and Paddy bad'un going from complete flop at Carlisle to L1's best forward I frankly don't fully go off how they did at last club to next club.

but its good for Carlisle to get rid of a high earner who won't play.

Nothing to do with what happened but he was so shit when he was on loan, looked scared to shout at the defenders and didnt make many saves. Might come good if gets settled in league two

Harsh.

An unassured start away Burton but after that was more than adequate and pulled off a sensational save against Exeter at home - save of the season for me.

Quite raw and wasn't what we needed at the time, but no reason why he won't be a good player at this level.

Nathan Buddle has joined Gateshead.

He signed for us in January but had limited playing time. Curle says he's one for the future, Buddle obviously wants to play regularly this coming season, something which we couldn't really offer him at this stage.

I have a feeling he may be back here a year or so from now.

Luton have appointed Andy Awford as our Youth Academy and Development manager.

Bit of a comedown from managing Pompey's first team...

Anyone had got to be better than Pidgely ... surely.

We've re-signed Anthony Stewart who left under a cloud last season,a good defender but he may have a big job ahead winning the fans around after thinking he was too good for Wycombe.

Nathan Buddle has left Carlisle and signed for Gateshead.

I'm surprised, he's well thought of here was offered and agreed in principle to, a new contract just a month ago, but apparently this was something that Buddle wanted. We saw a good future in him and were hoping to build his career to the point where he was a first-team regular for us, expecting him to feature more this season; but he would rather go somewhere where he can be a first-team regular right now.

Fair play to him a lot of players are keen to jump up the leagues even if it means playing little to no football, so his attitude is admirable if his priority ahead of wage or league standing is getting first-team games (and at Gateshead he's still ahead of where he was at Blyth). I'm sure we'll take an interest in his progress and should we progress in this division and he progresses at Gateshead, I'd like to think we'd be willing to sign him again.

To be fair he used to manage our youth teams/academy so your lucky he's not managing your first team.
