If we actually manage to get Paynter off of our books, then I'll be delighted. I had high expectations of him last season, but he was such a poor player, and I can't believe someone else wants to take him.

I wonder what Hartlepool are planning on paying him . I'd be amazed if any club is stupid enough to match his wages that he's getting here considering he's scored 1 league goal in 2 seasons.

It's been suggested on our forum that we're trying to get Jakob Sakolik (dunno if I've spelt that right!) from Yeovil. Can't seem to find any Yeovil fans on the internet anywhere, so hard to see if this is a rumour at their end or not!

Yeah that rumour has appeared but Sturrock has said that there's nothing to it

and its Sokolik

Plymouth Argyle sign left back Gary Sawyer on a free from Orient, 1 year contract.

He was ok for us, but of all our players to leave he was the one we all weren't too bothered about.

Ok defensively, but offered little going forward and struggled against anyone who was half decent, Carl Baker gave him the runaround when we beat Coventry 3-2 in the League Cup and he's been a squad player ever since - Albeit a decent squad player for us. Don't play him at Centre back though FFS!

Christian Burgess signed from Peterborough on a 3 year deal.

Very happy this has been confirmed . I think we are nearly there. If we can just sign a rb I would be alot happier, Im sure there will be one shortly.

Pompey are odds on to finish top this season in my view.

Well I wouldn't be parting with any cash in that case. L2 is notoriously unpredictable at the best of times.

I think there must come a point when your team is too good to not go up. Portsmouth are getting near there now.

Impossible to say such a thing. If it's Football Manger then yes they go up as champions. However this isn't FM2016 and anything can happen. It's why we love the game so much. On paper though, yes they should romp it.

I remember the days Bradford and Rotherham said they'd piss this tinpot division and stayed in it for six years.

Pompey will do a lot better this season but think it'll take them two years to go up.

Just had a quick look on Hartlepool's bunker forum and some of their fans seem to think Paynter has been good enough for us, but we're trying to offload him purely because his face doesn't fit.

Keep telling yourselves that lads! :2thumb:

We've now signed Medy Elito. Three players in a day, we've actually got a matchday squad woohoo haha.

More signings for Newport, what's going on??

Nathan Ralph & Nana Twumasi have signed up so we now have a squad of 16 wooo!

I hope Nana and Nathan do well at Newport. Both valued squad players at Yeovil in the past few years who's commitment and work ethic was never in doubt, unlike most.

Was disappointed to see both leave but truthfully their careers will benefit from the change of scenery. Their performances declined in correlation with the gathering malaise around Huish Park last year. Real confidence players, who with the fans support, will prove more than handy players who can double up in a few positions. Unfortunately for them, such has been the dejection and fear factor surrounding Huish Park over the past eighteen months, neither were afforded the opportunities to realise their potential.
Wish them both all the best.

Except for little old Barnet definitely finishing in the bottom half eh?

I'm calling you out Kenneth. :bdick:

Any idea where Leitch-Smith will end up?

Was posted on our forum that he was back in Blighty. We don't need a winger but in a way would have liked him back. Very good at finding space in between the lines, end product can be good too. But can also be anonymous.

Quite true as Luton sang to us last season when 3rd in the league "Fa Cup, who gives a fuck? We're Luton Town, we're going up".

Total implosion. Should have seen it through getting that far that quick but fell apart in Feb/Mar - can't remember which. Typically humourous but smacks you in the face with a wet fish song...................

To be honest we knew we weren't really good enough. Never replaced Gray and missing a link in midfield.

We - well I - came into the League not knowing much about it after so long away. This year I think it might be even harder to predict the Top few. Last season Burton had been perennial bridesmaids, Shrewsbury spent a bundle and made it look like they were serious, as did Bury - who I see as having a similar season to Pompey this time around - came good but as much due to others, including us, messing up.

Of the playoff bunch none seem to stand out for this season, most with lots of changes or none yet - it is very early for this type of hyperbole but we're all bored witless.. Haven't seen much talk about Southend, Plymouth seem in flux, Wycombe (my team of merit last season) will struggle (or be amazing) to recreate anything close to that degree. We might improve but to do so need a top striker or two and a defined plan/system.

Those that are coming down no clue. Orient seem to be a mess. Looking from afar Notts County seem to really be Juventus listening (too much) to ""some" of their fans and who else did we get ....Yeovil and Crawley? No clue. Rovers and Barnet will be fine mid table minimum.

Cambridge I fancy to have a run at it.

Didn't mention Oxford either. Have a sneaky feeling for them too even if very quiet.

Non-league would be my honest guess. Depends whether he wants to resurrect his career starting games lower down te ladder or bench warming in the FL. Someone will be willing to take him on in League Two plainly for the fact he comes with the Crewe academy graduate tag. A tag which lulled us in to think we'd got an absolute steal last year...we were very wrong!

Tubbs gets nose bleeds north of the Thames. Supposedly he refused to even speak to us when he was at Salisbury as he didn't want to move that far north.
Ignoring his short, unsuccessful loan spell with his old mucker at Rotherham, Jabba the Gut, you're right. He's always had at least half an eye on his bank balance though so I'd be surprised if he'll be quite so picky now ... if it's true Portsmouth want rid of him of course. Crawley would be the obvious choice for him but they've run out of money. Brizzle ditto but depends on the outcome of their court case against Sainsburys. No idea if we're interested but if you or Cambridge make the best offer, who knows. Decent striker at this level and below.

There's been nothing in our local news hinting Tubb wants out or we are looking to offload, curious to know where the rumours are coming from?
