Not convinced it's been a problem Tbh. See out the contract or the right offer comes in then you will be sold on. Most of our signings tend to be late twenties, early thirties who are happy at this level or 18-19 and pleased to get a pro contract, ambitious 20-25yo are fairly rare (and usually have a poor history at previous clubs).

We have just rejected an offer from Swansea worth £750,000 for a seventeen year old striker.

Really? There's no mention of that anywhere? It seems an awful lot to turn down for a player whose never played a match.

But what are the add ons? Are they proper add ons or "you get x amount when he wins the champions league for the 5th time" and "you get this amount when he gets his 100th cap for his country"

Yep. Can only say what the add ons are worth, not what triggers them.
This is the most recent article in the guardian
" Having had a £250,000 offer for Barnet’s 17-year-old wonderkid Matt Stevens turned down, Swansea have decided they’re sufficiently keen on the Bees’ youngest-ever first-team player – and author of 50 goals for their under-18s last season – to offer the full million."

Danny Carr signs on a two year deal from Huddersfield.

We had Carr on loan for a month last season, and before the usual suspects tell you that he's crap and it means you're obviously going to struggle next season, to be fair he was playing in a prehistoric Mansfield Town team that provided next to zero service to the frontmen, so it would be unfair to give you a satisfactory critique. I genuinely remember very little about him, other than he scored at York in 1 of his 3 starts.

He came at the same time as Vadaine Oliver, who looked the better of the two, in that short time, to be honest.

The combination of Shearer and Jensen does seem to form a 'dads army' of Field Mill goalkeeping, but I'm personally trying to put things in to perspective. Last season we started the season with 2 keepers aged under 22 without a league appearance between them. We now have the polar opposite and it looks an improvement.

We look an improvement throughout the park, which hopefully means some sort of progression in the table. The reverse would mean relegation. On paper, this new crop look like they would hand last seasons mob their arse on a 99p Ikea dinner service. All we ask for at Mansfield is a better product, a better philosophy, and a plan. Hopefully the seeds of that are being planted.

So the offer was £250,000 and not £750,000

If Barnet really did reject that sort of money for a player who's never played a game then that's got to be one of the worst decisions ever made in football!

You get players everywhere who bang goals in for u18 sides, and never make it as a full time pro. My cousin scored 39 in 32 for Luton u18s about 8/9 years ago, now plays for St. Neots Town.

I would love Tubbs here with Barry Corr if he is available. Don't know too much about the lad Carr but he has good pedigree, let's hope we can bring it out of him this season. I would assume we are still talking to other strikers and he will be back up to Corr and one other striker that hopefully is Tubbs :)

I said it was worth £750k and that is what has been confirmed by very good sources.
Whether the decision is good or bad it shows a desire by our owner to hold onto players and only accept big offers.

If it hasn't been mentioned already, we've signed Danny Holmes from Tranmere.

Good signing that. Not the most technically gifted of players but easily one of the most hardworking I've seen play for us in a long time.

We have to make allowances for Carr because as rightly stated above we had about as much attacking threat as Switzerland last year.

That said I thought he was bloody awful and the least effective of all our loanees and thats saying something. I would describe a 2 year contract as brave.

Mansfield were the worst team I saw at the Abbey last season, followed closely by Dagenham and Redbridge so whilst I respect your comments, I'll judge him in a team that scored plenty of goals last season. He can't be any worse than Jordan Slew....

What about prospective signings? It doesn't send a good message to them, they all see Barnet (and any other League 2 side) as a stepping stone.

We've got a very good track record of allowing players to move on so I don't see it being a problem.

The club made a very poor decision in publicly transfer listing him. There was no need to do it that way and it put his nose out of joint. The player himself has shown himself to be petulant and immature and hasn't helped himself. It would have set a dangerous precedent to allow him to behave as he did and then give him a move. No one wins out of this and hopefully lessons have been learned on both sides. And whoever he ends up with needs to take away his social media accounts.

Cheers mansfield fans, sounds like he's raw which in fairness is the type of player we used to go for, things seem to have changed this season though, have to question the length of the deal after slew last season, who I rate I'd like to add, we just didn't play football that complimented him.

Tubbs gets nose bleeds north of the Thames. Supposedly he refused to even speak to us when he was at Salisbury as he didn't want to move that far north.

My main annoyance with Carr was when we where at a stage when we needed all the fight and determination we could get he never looked interested.

If you are playing well on a nice Saturday afternoon in August he may well be a revelation but if you're up against it at Carlisle in late November he may be hard to find.

Sounds like he could be Kaikai plus goals. A Corr Carr combination up front or, more likely, with him out wide looks fine as an option to explore for me - with Corr and Gaffney interchangeable. Richard rarely gives his strikers 90 minutes, so unless Slew's attitude and application has impressed Richard more recently (highly unlikely), then I can see room for another front man to come in.

I guess we'll begin to see if Slew and Chiedozie are likely to feature in the first team squad or be loan prospects by the time we get a few pre-season games under our belts.

Nice to see the rumours thread on our message board dying a death but the signings keep rolling in.

Daniel Carr is the same as Bingham, young and has potential but lots to learn. Cambridge have just signed the next big thing!

Are you sure it wasn't Luton he didn't want to move to? I could understand that :)

He ended up in Crawley shortly thereafter which suggests he wasn't exactly looking for a place of great culture and beauty!

Billy Paynter set to hold talks with Hartlepool.

Please please let this happen. To get the waster off our wage bill would be a huge boost.

Blasphemy. Wash your mouth out with soap and water.

To be fair, Rakish's potential was a lot better hidden away in Wigan, Falkirk and Mansfield - it takes a genius like Ronnie Moore to recognise and unlock that potential.

Danny has been strutting his stuff in front of premiership scouts for a couple of years in the Isthmian South and alongside such talent as Jon Parkin, Jamie Cureton and, of course, with Rakish himself for that volley at York.
