anyway...our squad does weirdly have some talent, midfield is pretty good,
Don’t be so coy, “Best in this league and it isn’t even close” according to voice of reason Dan ‘the main man’ Phillips.

Ermmmm maybe stick to Bradford City's season ticket sales and attendances.

Your safe place.

HA - gOoD oNe!

Just protecting yourself from yourself when it comes to adjudging Matty Palmer.

Now a post almost season long Matty Palmer might not be as good but he was the National League Iniesta or maybe Xavi , a bit of both tbh. Our most important player by far but thankfully that Langstaff fella took the shine off him.

I don’t really follow the stuff about marquee signings. The only question Notts really need to ask is are they better than at the start of the window? I didn’t see them play last season but I can confidently say they’ve certainly upgraded Stone in goal for a start. That’s worth extra points in itself.

I think we would definitely have been lower than Oldham in the promotion season, and possibly Scunthorpe (lol). Maybe even yourselves, reckon they’d have been similar, and reckon the year before yours was definitely higher when Rowe signed half the league.

We obviously always had a competitive budget in the NL, mind. I think part of it is we give slightly lower wages in exchange for longer contracts - can’t remember the last time we signed or extended someone for just one year.
Well that's absolutely not true at all

We had the smallest budget in L2 two years in a row (as confirmed by our manager at the time) due to an EFL embargo on wages

Our owner was desperate to sell and refused to put any money in, we had a tiny budget in our NL season

Palmer is a top midfielder at this level, very clever player. I'd love to have him at Town.

Weird one. I presume this guy will be cover, but it feels like County are basically just signing anybody at this point.
We don't get them all right, nobody does but we don't just sign anyone, I think we'd do without rather than just stack up bodies for the reserves.

apparently he was player of the season at sutton at least. im revising my opinion to: best left back in the league.

Supporters club player of the season. No-one understood that call.
Walsall new boy Charlie Lakin won the club player of the year awards (in fact he pretty much swept the board).

The overwhelming feeling among most Sutton fans when Hart left was relief tbh. He’s capable of some good play but that’s dwarfed by the sense of fear anytime he was in the vicinity of the ball

Out of his depth in the league. Can at times look reasonable but only a matter of time before exposed defensively either by someone breezing past or being out of position. A bit shocked he got another league gig. And a little worried Morison wanted him back.
I felt a contract was offered because we kind of had to. Like with Omari Patrick who I don’t think Morison rated, but was offered a new deal

A logical response - fair enough!

I look at it from our perspective. We’ve had him at VP before - the younger, inexperienced version, granted.

He might be the perfect fit for Notts in non-league, but he’s yet to produce the goods for them and anyone else in the League since his Burton days, 10 years ago!
We were comfortably in the promotion mix until he got injured. For us he's been arguably more important than Langstaff.

Ok stop guys. He has no idea, which is understandable it's not his club so likely to have seen him in action a little less.

Easy to say before a ball is kicked but yes, we are a stronger team than the one that started last season.
Jatta is an improvement at centre forward, he could set it alight this season based on what I was of him last.
Scott Robertson at 22 is only going to improve in centre midfield. Bass is a clear upgrade as a keeper , Tsaroullis adds depth and three centre halves with experience at this level is an improvement if not eye catching.

Callum Ainley and Denver Hume sign one year deals to stay with us. Relatively pleased with that. Hume is a very solid LB and this level and Ainley I don't think we've seen the best of yet because we've hardly seen him but he's shown flashes of quality.

Peter O'Rourke reporting that Crawley have bid for Mullarkey too. Weird one that.

….I could argue the other common denominator was losing Williams in January. Losing 7 out of 8 games immediately after losing your manager certainly suggests that was a much bigger blow than losing Palmer at the end of October.

We've signed young attacker Fin Roberts from the non-leagues. Looks like a developmental prospect, only 18, doubt he plays much for our first team, maybe even heads out on loan for a while. Clearly we rate him, given him a 2 year deal.

I was level headed about this discussion until I saw Matty Palmer slander, we are now at war. I hope Baldwin spends all season tripping over his feet on your terrible pitch.

You're right, it did us no favours at all but we were sliding long before that.
Palmer is not a showey player at all and if you just see him once a season he's unlikely to be one of the players you remember for your team of the season but week in week out he's a 7 or higher. I'm a bit obsessed with him to be honest his energy levels are off the scale, he can run all day with a high pass completion rate, fair few assists, loads of interceptions and a couple of goals a season.
I just hope he comes back the player he was and that equally we don't work him like a dog for 46 games as we did in the NL.

I always liked Mullarkey. I think one window we were about a hairs breadth from getting him, for whatever reason it fell over at the 11.59 minute. How's he found L2?

Interesting one. Historically, we've got a great record of signing and developing players from non-league but it's been a while since we've had one. We tend to get priced out of players in the National Leagues now, so we have to go a bit lower. It's worked for us before!

The fact that the club have announced him as a development prospect does suggest he won't be near the first team to start with, but it took Luke Varney a couple of years to break through. I like this.

Which one? The one that was voted second best in the league the season before or last seasons which was fucked on the back off SKY demands and the wettest March for 100 years?

Baldwin will be sandwiched somewhere in between a concoction of players who have:

1.) Won the league last season
2.) Voted best RB in the league
3.) A settled defensive unit

Can’t say that about Notts, however.

Any rumours on us, Firthy? Been a quiet few weeks.
He's too busy with the Notts lads on strings atm to think of our rumours, that said there clearly aren't any been a boring summer hasn't it?

On the former Bantam Notts players, Platt was good and underrated imo think he is a miss. Palmer was crap for us but it was 2 divisions higher than Notts saw for the majority of his time there, sometimes dropping down does wonders, look at how shit Chicksen is and he did well in the pub league.

On strings? He's the gift that keeps on giving more like.

Looks like the usual Bradford City summer confidence boost and peak is back and in full effect#MIB

I bet season ticket sales are superb too.

He definitely does  same old with teams, criticise a player and the pack come running. Don't know where your confidence comment is coming from as other than the guy winding you all up no City fan is particularly confident.
