At least the weather forecast is a hell of a lot better than last season!

They’ve been close games at meadow lane and a draw tomorrow looks a good bet. After the surprise loss at Newport results both Saturday and on Tuesday really went out way, we’ve got to start pushing on again.

IMO, Notts' biggest claim to fame is not the year they were founded but the fact that a club that is known all over the globe changed their colours from pink (lol) to black and white stripes after Notts rather generously chose to give Juventus a helping hand by sending over to Italy a set of their own football kits

Just a shame those tinpot bastards in Sheffield have a older club and Stadium, but we all know the true foundation of professional football is in Nottinghamshire.

Our exact foundation date is a bit uncertain but we seem to have stemmed out of the Robin Hood Rifles volunteer regiment that was raised in 1859. There's evidence that at least some founding members regarded the club's starting date as being around then. There's a good chance our founding members (if not an official club) were one of the first teams to play at Field Mill.

Also one of the first senior clubs in Mansfield was Greenhalgh's, founded by former Notts County captain Harwood Greenhalgh.

I didn't know that! Very interesting.

Nottingham seems like an unusual case in that it was the first two clubs to be founded that are still around as the city's main sides. There were clubs in most of the surrounding towns and cities from the 1860s onward (some of which predated Notts and Forest), but in most those other places the first clubs were supplanted by later arrivals (and even in Sheffield I think United are 1880s).

You’ve certainly improved player wise in January but still far from the quality we’ve got. That said you’re at home and every games a cup final when you’re bottom (don’t mean that in reference to it being a cup final as it’s mansfield).

If we play our game we won’t lose. We’ve just got to play our way and if we do we’ve a great chance of winning it.

The Mansfield fans know we’re going to be in for a game tomorrow though and it’ll be tough, it’ll be fun though and may the best team win

11 I think. Pretty sure early 2005/06 at FM was the last time. We scored twice in the last 5 minutes or so to win 3-2.

As for tomorrow's game, I'd be a bit more confident if Newport hadn't beaten you last week truth be told. Had that not happened you might have strode in expecting an easy time of it and got a shock. As it is I expect you'll be ready. I'm trying to rationalise it and think we've already far exceeded my expectations from this run of three matches, but it would be nice to finally break the duck.

Nice to know they’re not just incompetent in Mansfield then. With the greatest respect the best way to avoid trouble today is for the police to chill and not create their own problems. It’s like they look for trouble.

There isn’t and never has been any niggle between the 2 sets of fans, had a cracking chat with 3 county lads early on.

The sun is blinding me but it looked a absolute banker red. My only complaint is he didn’t let us play a free-kick 30 seconds later.
