1-1 home to Lincoln, for a pre season game it was okay actually, had a few chances after equalising to get the winner, but we are so desperate for bodies it's unreal, 2 weeks till kick off and 15 fit players, turns out the trialist wasn’t Ben Tollitt after all? Eyes are garbage these days.
Anyone stand out then?

Fans are gonna love Niang I reckon, proper no nonsense player, Hastie looks a talent, very lively, loves running at defenders, like a stocky version of Mols, should've scored twice today, had a one on one saved after bursting through, Umerah looks a unit, had a great shot saved in the first few minutes, but tired as the game went on.

It's a friendly and it doesn't mean a lot but it was a good watch, can see Hartley wants them to play quick football, pass go move, we're not a million miles away with the players we have we're just clamouring from some depth, gonna need another 6 for me to be in a comfortable position going into the first game.

Beat Bolton 3-1.

No idea how the game went as I’m currently abroad. But good and unexpected result nonetheless.

you were 2-0 up at HT - Edmondson got the 1st after a Bolton error, 2nd was a Mellish cross/shot headed in by Barclay. Then Bolton pulled 1 back from the spot, then Dennis got a tap in

*our game kicked off at 2pm, yours at 3pm - so we had 1st half commentary, but only 2nd half updates - so had to endure the 1st half of your match

Beat Huddersfield 1-0 who played virtually their first team for 60 mins, we had 5 trialists on show, 2 who look worth a go and Lee Tomlin who looked good but is a risk

Lost 2-1 to Pompey and sent a team to Ramsgate who lost 4-0.

The mind games have started, lulling you all in to a false sense of security.

Drew 0-0 at Torquay the only thing good was the weather, if that's the best we have got to start the season with we are in deep shit.

We’ve had a good preseason so far in terms of results.

But going by past experience with Carlisle United, this usually means a disastrous start to the season.

Beat Spurs U21s 3-1, had a poor start and was behind - Kion Etete scored for Spurs, as mentioned on here a few times - clearly a very useful player, he also missed a penalty near the end.

An injury to Tom James meant we changed shape to our favoured 4-3-3 and we started to look alot better.

After leveling, George Moncur popped in a spectacular free kick and we went in ahead.

Second half apart from missing a pen, Spurs youngsters offered nothing. We managed to get a third through Adam Thompson via a long throw.

The injuries keep coming, Tom James off injured today and Youngster Dan Nkrumah, both hamstring injuries although not sure how serious. Lawrence Vigouroux has also been off ill.

Wellens said we will be bringing in a striker on loan - likely to be a youngster and we need another one/two central midfielders.

Watched the first 15 and and the last ten.

Jephte Tanga went off injured as well. Absolutely shocking pre-season so far on that front.

Sounds like us 12 months ago, didn’t manage to put anywhere near our first team out all season, some are still injured, Wellens must have been crossing black cats under ladders if his luck is still that bad

Apparently the 0-0 at Torquay was poor but I never pay any heed to friendly results. On paper we started the first XI outfielders with the rest winning 4-0 at Weston on Friday. I like Rowberry's approach of not using triallists, I'm struggling to think when one last paid off. Fingers crossed with one friendly to go we haven't lost anyone yet to a long-term injury which has been a regular thing.

We are still in the bind of having two keepers with nothing to choose between them. Townsend's distribution is quicker than Day's but he's vulnerable at his near post.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
We’ve had a good preseason so far in terms of results.

But going by past experience with Carlisle United, this usually means a disastrous start to the season.

The result yesterday does continue one massive trend since Simpson took over which few acknowledge yet can be the single biggest reason Carlisle so much better than people expect.

Since Simpson took over Carlisle are looking extremely likely to have a very good home form next season.

Think there was only Newport and exeter(who were beating most at the time) who took points and we beat sides in superb form Northampton, Bristol r and Mansfield at time we played them.

Can see Carlisle competing with any side in L2 at home this year, it’s vitally important as usually our better sides have always tried to make Carlisle that god awful horrid long trek no one likes to make.

Last season it was the easy have a kitkat ground.

Ricardo Santos did gift you 2 of the goals though - same as he did last time you played Bolton at home.

what's your opinion of Matty Platt so far - I watched a vlog from one of your fans at yesterday's game who described him as a Rolls Royce of a player?

Might be down to his training methods, having said that Tom James and Paul Smyth are injury prone anyway so not a total suprise to see them both picking injuries up.

Seems solid enough. Too early to really form any kind of opinion of him.

He’s competing for places with Timi Odinsina and Romoney Critchlow - the latter in particular looks a very good addition.

Like the look of him so far, only a small sample size in interchanging teams but he seems like someone who’ll put his head in where it hurts and head and kick everything you’ll know better than us is that a fair assessment? A bit like who he replaced Paudie O’Connor. We only had one CB after we sold Canavan to you in January last season and resorted to playing Songo’o there which he has done before and didn’t look bad there. But we’ve definitely strengthened there imo despite losing Paudie to Lincoln.

yeah fair assessment of him. Like i've said before his dad and uncle were rugby league players and one of them played for Great Britain, so he's from tough stock.
