Haha yeah definitely. I meant more I don't know if that's his type of chance or if he tends to score more in the air etc.

He’s pretty clinical in the box, as long he doesn’t have to run too far. Would have got a decent shot in.

Why do Bolton players all leg it off the pitch at half time like they are all desperate for a shite? Even Gilks does despite hardly being able to run.

It’s part of Evatts minimum requirements for the players. Have to run on and run off. It’s some psychological thing over an opponent apparently

Ah right. I wonder if there’s anything in it. You’d think more clubs would do it if it genuinely gave a team a psychological edge.

He did it with us, apparently it's to show the opposition they're relentless.

I think he does a lot of research on those sorts of things. Even if it only makes a 1% difference.. if you do it with several other marginal gains it all adds up doesn’t it. If you have 4/5 1% gains that could be the difference between promotion and not.

I like it personally. I’m sure loads of managers do different things. I remember Big Sam didn’t let us shoot outside the box back in the day other than from fks because that’s what the statistics told him. If you shot from outside the box and missed you had to put money in the Christmas party fund.

I doubt it. He says he wants the opposition to see them run off and feel that they're not going to ease off/ tire.

I think it's probably more effective in just drilling players than anything. Guess we'll know if he loses a dressing room when they all walk off instead.

If I was the opposition I’d just presume they needed a shit.
But I suppose even if it’s only psychological for your own players then it’s serving it’s purpose

Fairly even first half, both sides generally cancelling each other out but Doyle needs less of a chance than the FGR strikers.

Game being played at such a slow pace, though. No zip in it at all. Any slower and it'll be walking football.

This is so scrappy. Thought it would be a good game of football. Both sides struggling on the ball. Ref has made some shocking decisions for both sides in last 10mins.

Pretty average game so far for us. Salford had one cleared off the line. Henderson playing well.
I assume if it stays like this we will bring on Bowman and Williams in the second half.

I fear today could be a real hiding. A few teams have been threatening to do it to us in recent weeks but it hasn’t really happened, our defeats on this run have been by the odd goal. Think that will change today. I have a feeling Cambridge will get 5 or 6 without reply.

Get in. Massive win. Not a great performance but we managed the game well. Take a 1-0 scrappy win all day long at this time of the season.

Bolton really do know how to get results. Fair play. As for us, we dont deserve to be ahead yet we should have had a pen to make it two.
I think we need to be better second half to get three points here.

Scrappy in blustery conditions......Doyle plays up front for them today with that chance for them and they win the game 1-0
Said before we are far from unbeatable in this run but we once again grinded it out.

Shocking team out there for us today. Will be amazed if we have a shot on target let alone get a point.

The big difference is we can now defend. Easier in a 4 than the 3/5. If you don’t concede many you can nick games 1-0 which we have done a lot recently. Think we’ve only conceded 3 in the last 9 games or something. To think we conceded 6 against Port Vale in one game last year.

Yeah exactly. We have plenty to improve on especially in attacking positions. Defence looks good now though

Yes, fair result in a scrappy game but Bolton with the moment of quality and the ability to see it out. Our goals have dried up a bit recently anyway so was already a big ask before Jamille got that unlucky injury so early.

Unchanged for us which isn’t a surprise really with how they’ve played the past two games.

Pope not in the squad so assume we are cotton wooling him for next weekend.

Thought Bolton just deserved that, just shows what a bit of patience with a manager can do. FGR will still be a threat in the playoffs if they can get their best starting XI out.

All credit to Bolton, they are a completely different team from the start of the season. Maybe the best we've faced overall.

We need some quick and full recoveries from injuries to have any chance of avoiding an end-of-season flagging.
