Now weren't you lot ranting at Newcastle for saying this same thing (which we didn't by the way) ?
Weren't you also ranting about how much we'd spent to get out of this league ?
And then it came out you'd spent FAR more - and are in dept - while we made a large profit on getting the lame ducks out !!
some of us maybe we're but I certainly wasn't. A lot of villa fans were hoping for the play offs, me included but being realistic it was always going to be hard as we had such a poor team when we got relegated. With the money we spent and the players that came in we should of certainly done better. I'm like a yo yo at the minute regarding us next season. I'm not so optimistic at the minute for some reason but we shall see. Congratulations on promotion anyway.

I didn't think it was possible to blow so much money that FFP is an issue whilst receiving parachute payments. But Villa have managed to do it!

Tony Xia confirmed this was true yesterday.

We were left in a financial mess by Randy, a lot has been spent this season, it wasn't entirely unexpected. Besides that;

Veretout
Gil
Sanchez (recently offed for £4million to Fiorentina I think)
McBigmac
Gollini
Amavi
Richards
Tshibola

are/will all be for sale, there's £30million+ in money back to the club alone assuming we can find buyers for them all.

It's really not as big a deal as is being made out. :dk:

"Jack Grealish is facing up to three months out following a freak injury in Villa’s final pre-season friendly. The 21-year-old needed surgery after suffering a bleed in a kidney when he collided with Watford’s Tom Cleverley during Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Villa Park."

Great!

Was really hoping Jack was gonna hit the ground running this season playing in the no.10 role but this sucks.

I do think he's massively overrated and needs to sort his shit out to meet his potential, but I feel sorry for the lad, it looked like Bruce had finally found a formation he could potentially flourish in, and then this happens. He has a chance to come in later in the season though I guess. Time for Bjarnason to step up? Or will we now be in the market for an attacking midfielder?

Please don't suggest that to Bruce.

Think about it. Play a 8-0-1-1 formation, re-sign Gestede, launch the ball forward, Gestede will flick on as Gabby runs past everybody from deeper. Villa will never concede cos so many defenders and nobody will catch Gabby. It's PERFECT.

We offed Gestede to Boro unfortunately. I think your plan has hit a problem.

That is tough on Jack Grealish.l

Often is the innocuous clashes that lead to the serious injuries.

Good luck to him.

You looked pretty solid on Saturday albeit not against much in attack and certainly should have won really.

I wouldn't say he's overrated just that ALOT (too much IMO) is expected from him by some of our fans. He has Great potential that's for sure. Let's be honest though, he hasn't really had an extended run of games in his best position (no.10 role). With Kodjia out was hoping he would play behind Hogan for the first few games.

Oh well, hopefully he comes back sooner rather than later. Thor is the only one I can see playing the no.10 role in his absence but he has yet to prove himself. Maybe McCormack? if we keep him.....

OK ~ I'm a blues' fan. :err:

However I wouldn't wish such a strange injury upon anyone, as Jack has suffered.

Kidneys? From a loose elbow in a scuffle?
It doesn't make sense to me. I can understand Villa being very reserved in explanations, and allowing his horrible father to twitter and FB about it.
( I have met him 3 times ~ once affable and getting Jack to sign autographs, two times slagging villa, and he often says that Jack is bigger than villa.... a horrible man ~IMO ~and a reason for Jack to believe he is God's Gift ~ he's had that all his short life)

BUT ~ it is very weird. A... 20-something out till 2018 for a 'hit' on his kidneys? :told:

I wish him well anyway. :2thumb:

Now.... Cardiff v Villa ?

Understandable fickle support for Steve Bruce, always happens after a loss at villa - Manager Out.

But now it's moved onto £100k a week Terry. Can't Run, out of place for 2 Cardiff goals and didn't even attempt a jump on another....went visiting Chelsea training ground instead of visiting his team in Colchester...as Captain, and even not picked, he could've bothered to turn up in a rain-drenched Cup match... much rumbling amongst fans.

With Villa up against the envelope on FFP, sacking Stevie will probably wipe you out.
Mr Xia has done well on free transfers, but the HIGH wages kick in during THIS Season.

And Allardyce/Pearson/Pardew...that your fans are screaming for, will come with just as big a Redundancy payment as Steve has.

Sorry about Jack, and wish him well.

Do you think it will take this season or next, for your fans to realise you are NOT a big club anymore?

We are not known to be the most patient of fanbases. I for one would give him a bit more time, although I will admit it's not been very good so far. Facts are we are in limbo at the minute and last seasons spend like a top 6 prem club gamble has backfired. Historically and support base we are one of the biggest clubs in England, but let's be honest and stop living in the past. We've not been a big club for about 6 years now and we've not been a powerhouse since the late 1800s . From what I've seen so far pre season and the season so far nothing has changed from last season. I think we may be down here for a few seasons.

Makes me sad that Conor and James are mixed up in this mess.

Sounds like a terrible performance today. Wasn't at the game but from what I've heard we were absolutely hopeless going forward and only got the draw because of Johnstone. Could have been 2 or 3 nil to Brentford. Fair play to them though sounds like they had a really good game.

Bruce is most definitely on borrowed time now. It's not necessarily the results but the totally inept performances that us fans are not happy about. At home he really needs to play 2 up top and start taking games to the opposition, Hogan and Davis should start on Tuesday against M'boro but Bruce will probably stick with what he knows and stick with 1 up top.

Kodjia is supposedly back either Tuesday or next weekend. Make or break for Bruce these next 2 games.
