With 30m being banded around for Deeney and Mane currently, might sound mad but of the two I think I'd prefer Deeney! Not as naturally talented, but more effective and consistent. Both valuations are crazy though and it's probably a sign of things to come.

Take those Bournemouth tinged glasses off for a minute. Mane three years younger, plenty of pace, has the ability to create something out of nothing. Also given the "big clubs" a run around on multiple occasions.

Mane trumps Deeney for those attributes in my opinion. Just a younger Rickie Lambert with better aerial ability.

I wasn't too upset to see the back of Wanyama, but I will be Mane.

imo 20 mil is the new 30-40 now. Bids of 30 mil is being rejected for the likes of Ighalo. 12 million for Michael Keane. Ridic but that is how it is now.
Don't think anyone has made a bid for Ighalo mate, never mind 30 mil

Yeah I accept that but that's still seen, even if those sorts of money are becoming the new norm, as a marquee signing and I do think for that or less we could get a similar or better player in that position. Now he has in patches shown he is good enough in the PL and thats all that matters this season, but I'm unsure if he's the player we ought to be laying that sort of money on if Liverpool are seriously going to push for top four or higher.

£30m is a lot for Mane but he has potential to be a really really good player. He just needs to find some consistency, I'll be quietly happy if he does come to Liverpool but the price tag is off putting.

Good signing for Liverpool - I wouldn't make too much fuss about the price either, fees are set to become ridiculous this window.

I'm happy with him. Although I do hope he isn't the Mane replacement.

He has the potential to be a great signing. The big emphasis is on the word potential there. I think £10m is a fair price in the current market as well.

I'm not that disappointed to see him leave. He's a good player but he clearly wanted to leave and he's a very frustrating player to watch. He has all the attributes to be good but so often he makes the wrong decision. That's the biggest weakness in his game. If Southampton can nurture him and put a footballing brain in him then he'll be a great player for you, he could easily just become a top championship player as well.If there is a club out there that can do it it is Southampton. Personally think he's better playing in the centre with the freedom to roam but not everyone agrees with that.

That can be said of quite a few players, not many teams can allow that sort of freedom. Mahrez is a prime example looks good with the freedom to roam, but far less effective in the run in when CR had him holding position.

Man U have more money than sense 96m for Pogba. I have not seen a lot of him, but what little I have has not been impressive, certainly not to the tune of 96m, he reminds me a bit of yaya.

The papers can spout as much shite as they like about linking him back there but it's never going to happen.

Mkhitaryan (38m euros) and Ibrahimovic are set to sign for United according to Di Marzio. Also in talks for Pogba but Juventus apparently want a world record fee. Not sure he's worth that much but I'd happily take him, he'd be a hit in the Premier League.

Can't say I've seen much of Mkhitaryan but I understand he's pretty fast and is equally as adept at playing wide right as he is attacking mid. I hope so as right wing is one of the main areas we need to improve.

Exciting times.

Very happy with both signings if they come off, of course.

Mkhitaryan is fantastic but the general consensus seems to be that he is best suited to the number ten role, though he's very good across the attacking midfield positions. I wonder where Mourinho sees him playing for United.

I think Mourinho will see him in the Deco/Oscar role. He has to have a player like that in his side. Happy with a player in his prime with a lot of quality coming in. That's the death toll for Mata.

To be honest, I think the majority of wide players are like this, and prefer playing centrally. Managers tend to use their pace/dribbling skills in wide areas then the middle of the pitch, which I don't always agree with.

Everton have been linked with Wesley Sneijder this week for around €7.5m. For that price I'd take a chance on him, we need a number 10 and is hope he still has a couple of years left in him. Ideally I'd like a younger player but he's a good option
