Kyle Bennett I think would be a good signing for us at NL level if his attitude is right.

Apparently a couple more to be announced early next week.

Bennett might be technically decent (though he didn’t really show it here) but he is absolutely weak as piss. Probably needs more time on the ball but don’t expect him to put up a fight.

He looked it yesterday to be fair. Bet he's great at six a side.

Just what we need is more technically adept but easily bullied creative forward types.

Someone reckoned we had Ira Jackson Jr playing for us yesterday?

What's the deal with him Grimsby?

Expected to announce 2 new signings over the next couple of days. I believe it’s a CM and a striker. Also there’s still a possibility of Andrew Dallas joining on loan despite signing a new contract at Cambridge recently.

I’d have liked Dallas permanently, but he wouldn’t have got into our strongest line up (perhaps part of why he’s stayed at Cambridge), so it’s hard to see what the point of loaning him would be.

Our striker signing is really bloody difficult to get right. I think everyone agrees that our strongest line up is going to have Rodrigues/Roberts/Wootton as a front three. So we need someone who’ll accept that they might not start all the time. But they also might, because Roberts, so they need to be good enough to do so. Ideally it’ll be someone who can cover Wootton as a lone striker, but also play with him effectively in a pair as a different option. Tricky one to find.

Someone mentioned this on our forum.

Seems unlikely tbh
Unlikely? I wouldn't be remotely surprised if our chairman sniffed out some more £££££

We'll be the whipping boys next season the way we are heading.

I'd like a Wes Thomas clone. Athletic, technically adept good movement. We missed him last year I think.

If Hyde leave us too we will be in a massive relegation dog fight imo. Already lost key players in Earing, King and Byrne. The last thing we need is our only proven goal scorer leaving too.

We’ve only made 2 signings and Wild has done an interview in the NLP today moaning about how bad our budget is compared to everyone else’s. Could be a long season at this rate.

Wasn't in our squad yesterday by all accounts and has been told he's free to leave the club and has been transfer listed so might well have been him.

He seems like a great guy with a top attitude but ultimately he's a bit of a headless chicken type who should never have been signed by a L2 club. Has split opinion of our fanbase though as plenty want us to keep him and give him a shot, probably due to the level of effort and commitment he's put in when he has played, which has been great to be fair.

Is he decent then? I don't know a lot about him but there's a minor meltdown on red passion over this rumour.

He just doesn't seem to have the profile of player I assumed we'd be after, that said I'd be happy of we signed him given his goal scoring record.

He's a good all-rounder. Holds the ball up well, pretty good in the air, brings others into play, good finisher etc. Only slight cons I'd say are he's not pacey so gets caught offside running too early sometimes and he won't play through any niggles. He missed about half of the season but still got easily into double figures for us.

Yes, absolutely, but ideally younger and without the… rumours about why he suddenly disappeared. It’s hard not to think our hopes once again hinge on getting and keeping Roberts fit, to be honest. I’m sure we’ll sign a functioning midfield and otherwise we look fine, but he can be the difference.

these sort of things always remind me how many of our fans are absolutely miserable pessimists, and another large chunk are thick as mince.

Well he's a goalscorer definitely. The problem is he's made out of glass. Missed half the season due to injury last year. Still managed double figures in goals despite that though.

Just rumours but heard Adi Yussuf close to agreeing a 1 year deal back with Grimsby. Was alright last time he was here in L2 then dropped down and got himself a move to Blackpool. Not a huge intent of a big name but hard worker and will get around 10 goals.

Didn't work out for him at all at Chesterfield. He didn't put the required effort in with us but he did get in amongst the goals. I certainly don't recognise the hard worker tag!
