Incredible isn't it? We've spent £0 on transfer fees this season and Bristol Coty have spent £10 Million on 2 players. No idea how we are supposed to compete at this level.

You tramps, we spent about £200k on a left back

Exactly, and I bet they've realized they probably had their pants pulled down by posh.

Hence them being chuffed to bits when Bristol City came along with a deal that matched what they paid.

I've absolutely nothing against Bristol City but, 6m for Dwight Gayle is mental. You could have got 2 players of equal quality for that, I reckon. Assuming of course that you've stumped a fair wedge up upfront.

I'm not sure they feel they've had their pants pulled down, from what I know he's held in pretty high regard there

Bit OTT.

He'll rip this League up will he? based on what?

For Palace, he's played 48 times and only scored 12.

13 in 29 for you lot.

Good luck to Bristol City but, I bet Palace can't believe their luck that someone is prepared to hand over 6M for this lad.
Palarse fans on their forum seem upset that he's only going for that price!

Bristol City couldn't compete financially the other day according to Cotterill and their owner. Funny how quick that's changed!

We've confirmed we're looking at replacing Will Hughes. I'd guess a season long loan, rather than a buy but time will tell.

Bryson only out for 2-4 weeks thankfully.

Oh I'm sure he is mate but, if you asked them (Them being the hierarchy, not the fans) if he has been value for money, considering he's only scored 12 times in nearly 50 games, I bet they'd say he hasn't.

I'm sure he's been half decent for them, but when you start looking at the fee they paid for him, well......

It's all media bollocks to me. We have a serious 'backer' and probably are now resorting to higher fees - if the quality matches the price.

I think City have learnt that things are somewhat different in this league if we want to improve our squad. Small fees probably for prospects, improvements will be serious dollar, unless we can unearth some foreign unknown player.

We could always compete financially, we just didn't ideally want to pay the high rate the market has risen to. However on this occasion 24 year old premier league striker, time to develop and potential sell on value as well. If Bolasie goes for big money this summer we're in for a small windfall which could offset this amount.

He's a very good left back tough. The ironic thing is that Joe Bryan was hurt on Saturday so he would probably be in our team now. DOH!!

He was superb on his debut to be fair, got involved in a bit of a scuffle too which I like to see, looks a good buy.

Just us and Mk Dons left in club poor then..

Can we join this? Our record transfer fee is £1.3m for Wells which seemed massive at the time!

Not sure what to think these days. Always liked our attempt to self sustain, consistently sell players for good profits and utilise the academy but it's not gonna get us anywhere. In fact it's probably a bit of a stone age approach now.

Our owner is stupidly wealthy and a City fan. He has formed an 'umbrella' company in Bristol sport and keeps everything in house. I can only assume that Bristol sport have suddenly found an extra few quid to put into the football club. He DID say we would compete during the summer and we have a sell on clause for Yannick Bolasie which may have some bearing on this.
Bear in mind our record transfer fee is £2.25M for Nicky Maynard so I'm not sure this is genuine TBH.

Pretty sure ourselves and Preston have wealthy owners too. Not picking on you guys individually though.

That's a big if!

Very true, I imagine on this occasion it will be a case of if he has to Lansdown will sign off on it. The whole thing about our last stint in this division is that we were paying 30 something year olds and has beens big money who just weren't good enough/didn't have any resale value. Gayle is young, promising and definitely has a resale value so not as high risk in that regard.

It's Media Mindgames.

To me, this bid proves 3 things.

1) The 'Bottom 6 budgets in the division' is utter bullshit, and more mindgames.

2) The 'Lingard to City' was a deflection away from other deals, because if we have this sort of money, we wouldn't be turning our noses at paying slightly more for him..

And 3) The depressive act being played by Cotterill where he said 'no signings were imminent' or something similar on Saturday is again, mindgames.

And I don't think Sean Dyche will be the only one going mental if City pull that off!

Believe it or not but Dean Hoyle is probably one of the poorest (I use this term very loosely) owners in the division. Ours is worth 510m and that is pretty average in this league. According to wiki Dean Hoyle is only (again, loosely) worth 120ish mill.

We paid 4.75M for Ince, who scored 11 in 18 as a winger for us.

Boro paid 5.5m (?) for Downing, proven premier league winger who did well last season.

And Bristol City are paying 6M for Gayle... This league is ridiculous.

Dyche pulling his beard out as we speak.

Put that in comparison with Lansdown, who is worth 2 billion Dollars (so says Google).

Find it strange all the people saying 'where have City got this money from?' well, they clearly bought into the mindgames.

Few niggling doubts, could it be better spent throughout the team, would be our 3rd signing up front when we're short of defensive and midfield cover..... oh and 6 (SIX!!) million...

But it's hard not to get majorly excited about this one - he's absolute quality.

Got to agree personal terms yet though, still expecting someone to nip in at the last minute
