Charlie Austin: Released by Reading, massive improvements at Swindon, Impressed at QPR

Ben Gladwin: Released by Reading, massive improvements at Swindon,...

We got rid of Austin because somebody at the club though he wasn't tall enough.Brilliant decision :ffs:

Two good signings for QPR - and I doubt they'll be a scratch on the state of that wage bill at QPR.

Two players who've been attracting interest from bottom half Premier League clubs and have signed a few days after their play off tie and the Premier League ending, rather than waiting further on in the window to see what other options come up. I don't think working under Chris Ramsey has influenced them into jumping at the chance to join QPR. High wages being the obvious draw to QPR.

Don't know if it's just lazy journalism but quite a few reports out today of our interest in Wes Foderingham.

Swindon's team is going to look unrecognisable next season.

Of course they'd be on higher wages than they previously would have been at Swindle - but they won't be on near of what the ridiculous wages that have been quoted for some of their current players.

Let's not judge what they're on compared to fellow QPR players, as they're all inflated, but what they're on compared to other Championship players. It was only a few weeks a go the FL were threatening to chuck QPR out of the system, but nothing seems to have actually happened and QPR are being QPR again.

Makes a mockery of the FFP - clubs won't hold back now seeing what has happened recently, they're spineless, and it's got to the stage where nothing surprises me with all these associations and so called 'hierarchies' to be honest.

No let's be absolutely clear on this, Halford is shite.

You probably know better than I do regarding Halford but I dare say the expectation is a little higher at your club.
He probably won't sign anyway but if he does he starts with a clean slate as far as I'm concerned.

Our fans are fucking weird. Darren Bent signing (potentially) is brilliant news, yet half of them are moaning.

Whatever the bid is on Grigg, lets get it as close as possible to £1m. We get 25% on him I believe. Possibly why Brentford are holding out so high on him. With compensation, add-ons and this sell on (if the fees around £1m) - they will have paid us around £650k. Not bad for a player who turned his nose up at our contract.

Walsall did incredibly well out of that tribunal. In hindsight I just wish we never signed him!

Whilst I don't think it's a straight forward brilliant signing we are signing one of the most lethal strikers at this level from last season. The majority of his goals came from no where and it's down to him and Ince that we were still in with a shot at the top 6 because every other fucker had lost their head.

The only criticism for me is his overall play, despite scoring 12 in 17 he didn't do enough in some games. Sounds crazy but it's true. Now Mac has gone this probably won't be as much of a problem, the new manager will no doubt tweak our system and hopefully give us more of a game plan other than Chris Martin or bust like last year.

A very good signing but the jury's out, probably be on a big contract so let's hope he repays it. If our new manager can somehow fit Martin and Bent into the same team then we're onto a winner...

Reading fans... Seems like we're picking Pearce up on a freebie. Guessing you're not too fussed about losing him so that speaks volumes already?
Our defence is in need of a little plastic surgery and whilst I think we'll sign another CB it would be nice if Pearce is just a steady defender who can bulk up our CB options at least.

We're being linked with Carlton Cole. Linked with him in January, and he was a boyhood fan, so might happen. Not a bad backup, but I hope we are aiming higher

I think most fans would prefer him to stay. Been at the club since he was 12, vice-captain and played over 200 games for us. Lots of passion towards the club and was our POTS when we last got promoted. But I think most would agree that he is the definition of average Championship centreback. Reads the game well, strong no nonsense tackler, isn't afraid to get hurt for the cause, but he can't pass and must be the slowest CB in the league. We just couldn't afford his wage demands, otherwise he'd probably had stayed. Skill level wise it shouldn't be too difficult to replace him, but we'll definitely miss his passion and commitment.

More talk of us getting Youssouf Mulumbu and Dwight Gayle... surely too good to be true. Sammy Ameobi linked too.

Hate this part of the season, linked with all the big name players and you end up getting Bishop Stortford's 3rd choice right back...

Irons in the fire.

"The exits of the released players will help free up room for new arrivals, with Grayson looking to strengthen ready for the next level.

He wants Paul Gallagher, Sam Johnstone and Jermaine Beckford back at Deepdale after successful loan spells.

It is understood that talks were held with Beckford’s advisors on Wednesday and another meeting is scheduled for next week.

A deal to sign Johnstone is still very much alive, contrary to social media rumours.

Discussions are planned with the goalkeeper’s agent and parent club Manchester United over the coming days.

North End officials will meet with Gallagher’s agent next week.

Also on Grayson’s shopping list are full-backs on both sides of the pitch.

And even if PNE sign Beckford, another striker will be needed, while a winger could also be on the cards during the summer."

Pearce has has been fairly average the last couple of seasons. No pace and has the turning circle of a cruise ship.He is brave and committed.Wouldn't be too upset to see him go.Rumour is that Paul McShane will replace him

Can see that working out alright. McShane is probably better than Pearce (though been a while since he played a full season anyway) and at an age where we can get a couple of seasons out of him before Cooper is ready to take to the stage.

What we're calling out for is an organiser/demi-captain in defence. Pearce is alright at that, but we still need better, and will need someone now he's gone.

Can't remember where I saw it but a rumour we are going to compete with MK Dons for signing Grigg, considering everything Robinson said about the comparative budgets last season you'd think the only reason he'd go to MK out of the 2 would be personal preference and thats if Brentford were to accept both clubs bids (if the rumour is true)

If we were to sign Bent, I'm sure he wouldn't be on 60k a week. We have a board which run the club very well and offering one person 60k would just destroy every other player in terms of morale because they earn nowhere close. I also hope it isn't a 4 year deal, should be 2 max.

Our board looked at our situation with McClaren very carefully, 3 weeks of analysis actually. They have the club at heart and interviews given by CEO Sam Rush seem encouraging.

Longer than 3 weeks. It's been well-known amongst those at the club that Clement was coming in weeks ago, a lad I know quite well went to school with one of your U21s players (who has been released since) and apparently it was all anyone has been talking about. I wouldn't be surprised if it was all common knowledge before the end of the season, which wouldn't have helped going into that final game I'm sure.

Not heard anything on our end, and we usually hear something if someone is potentially moving out.

Everton reportedly interested in Odubajo. Can't see it happening, as I doubt they'll want to pay our asking price.

Nice to see interest in our players, but we are in no need to sell so can't see it happening unless a big offer comes in. That won't happen from Championship teams.

Rumour is Joey Barton is in talks with Leeds. His wage demands would be massive for a championship club, no doubt.
