Aaron Pierre training with us. Yay, another centre half, just what we need!

Nice to see you go after Grenadian internationals, aint many of them about now Jason Roberts has retired.

Micah Richards is still available seeing as Huddersfield don't seem to want his illustrious services. He can play right back too... :animatedf:

Does Baker come as part of the package?

Regarding your last point, I'd love to know where you got that from considering we had the 5th best defensive record in the league last season without the defensive stability others have talked about with Amavi getting injured, Cissokho coming in, getting dropped when we sign Taylor, Amavi getting another go, replaced again by Taylor, Elphick starting alongside Chester with Baker replacing him but getting injured every 5 minutes to Jedinak eventually playing in centre back, then at right back starting with Hutton, signing De Laet, replacing Hutton, De Laet getting injured, Hutton coming back, signing Bree and those two rotating..... Need I say more?? And we've just added another fantastic defender to that lot.

Oh I'm sorry. I forgot that only Villa players get injured or have to play out of position and that you have a genuinely valid reason for being mediocre, whereas the rest of us are just Championship/L1 cloggers with no class and no idea.

Tbh, I am absolutely certain that you have much more justification for hurling it back at me, but I have no idea who most of those players are that you mention above. Sorry. I appreciate you are a big club and I'm assuming that they are all top PL players. I'm certainly learning a lot today. :bl::bg1:

Fuck off Mark, you've whinged like fuck in the past about the direction football was heading in.

Now your club's at it, you can't wait to tell everyone just which ridiculous deal you're lining up this week.

You think you're Tony Montana.

I think most sane Wolves fans have a mixture of awe, excitement and genuine concern. I've said a few times that I didn't like it when QPR fell foul of the FFP rules and I won't like it **if** Wolves break them. However, it's an **if** because the rules work over three seasons now and we are a club that is debt free and running at a profit. We've got more room to play with and we aren't breaking any rules.

Worth remembering that two of our four transfers in so far have been frees. I suspect that the weekly rates are going to go through the roof, admittedly, but Wolves can afford it a bit more than a lot of the other more indebted Championship clubs.

In all honesty, I'm not sure this Neves news isn't a red herring like the Talisca shite last summer. All of a sudden Neves will end up at Besiktas. Or East Fife or Atalanta. It ain't over til Paddy Kenny sings.

More Derby outgoings... Cyrus Christie going Middlesbrough.

Great signing though they've got a replacement in Wisdom.

Surprised Grayson is bringing in Tyias Browning in on loan for Sunderland, he was pretty shit for us.

I reckon they'll get Baptiste as well, good player but he's always picking up niggles.

You would be pissed off being a Sunderland fan, bringing in a load of average PNE players... Doubt they'll be troubling the top 6 at this rate.

They haven't signed anyone from us.

McGeady looks a done deal for them anyway, far from average.

Sorry, swap signed with rumoured to sign, I'd class McGeady as one of yours too. Not sure if he'll cut it with Sunderland, was decent for you but did nothing of note at Sheff Wed.

Much more than decent. Grayson should get the best out of him, one of the best widemen at this level when he's enjoying his football.

The only PNE player they've been linked with is Hugill, Redknapp is keen too and Ipswich chased him all last season. For all the money Wolves are spending, they still don't have a striker better than him. Think we will want seriously good money for him.

Fair enough about McGeady, you've seen him much more than I will have.

I'd rather Mason or Dicko to Hugill and I don't rate any of our strikers at all. I doubt either will be with us by September to be honest, Mason is linked with Forest and QPR, Dicko will probably go to a lower Champ or decent L1 side.

Don't think Mason has ever hit double figures at this level and Nouha Dicko seems like injuries have done him in. Neither are capable of leading the line like Hugill or have anywhere near the physical presence.

He's better than both with ease, hence why he's being linked to multi-million pound moves.

You know Joe Mason was sold to us for 3m right? A multi million pound move. Don't think he has hit double figures for us, but then again we have played him as an attacking midfielder for most of his time at the club, Dicko and Bodvarsson were both the main strikers last season (both useless).

As I said, doubt either will be at the club in the near future though. We haven't had a decent striker at the club since Afobe left. Luckily for us we now have owners that will get the best strikers money can buy for this division.

Only HITC reporting it so far isn't it? Which happens to be straight after Gunter signing a new contract.

If we do get 2 million I'll be really happy, decent player but still making the same mistakes 3 years on. Another player that just isn't going to cut it under Rowett. Hopefully Wisdom is an improvement, if he plays anything like he did for us in 13/14 he will be.

Should do ok for Boro, hope he kicks on.

Yep I remember the £3m fee and the surprise that went with it. Mason isn't a bad player but his stock is pretty low at the moment and there's no way he's as effective as Hugill.

Hugill is vastly under-rated by a lot of fans, seemingly not managers though; Grayson, McCarthy, Redknapp, Lambert.. Bruce praised him last season as well. Old school striker who scores goals and does the dirty work that creates space and opportunities for any flair players playing off him.

We'll struggle to replace him if he goes I think.

Chris Gunter has signed his new 3 year contract now after rejecting Middlesbroughs approach.

Daily Mirror reporting that we've bid £5m for Karl Darrow. They could at least come up with realistic rumours. We need a new keeper, but won't smash our transfer record when we bring one in.

Yes, that's exactly what I said. It was nothing to do with the fact that we STILL had the 5th best defensive record DESPITE that.

I was disputing the point about us having an unsettled defence and that affecting our ability to not concede as many goals. I provided evidence from last season that it does not.

But well done for taking my point entirely out of context. :bravo:

Didn't want him to sign and have been justified in saying that at the time despite others claiming I was wrong to say he would do nothing for us, he isn't really anything position wise, not good enough in front of goal to be a striker, or clever enough to be a 10 or inside forward type. Misses too many chances, not good enough in support of another forward but scores the occasional well taken goal or gets a few in a row so people talk themselves into him.

He reminds me to what I used to think about Jay Boothroyd when he was with us, clearly got some talent but never seems to produce it consistently enough.

To be fair when we sold Afobe we were going to get ripped off for any striker we wanted to sign since people knew we had money. It was always going to be hard to replace Afobe, but I didn't see the point in signing Mason and playing him more as a midfielder than a striker. No wonder his goal to game ratio isn't too good when he's being played out pf position.

Weren't you in the same position as us, sold your star striker Kodjia (Afobe) and then desperate to replace him with anyone before the deadline? In the process you then pay over the odds because clubs know you'll be desperate for a striker before the window closes.

Yeah it was desperate attempt at a last minute bid. We sold Kodjia, brought in Engvall for £2.5m and he's played once in the league, so they knew he wasn't ready and tried getting in another I assume. Engvall has scored 7 in 13 for some Swedish side in the top league but I doubt he'll ever make it here.
