Any update on the disciplinary action over points as yet another month+ has passed?

Is it frustrating with this hanging over the club for you Bolton fans? I do get the impression the FL is trying to ignore it and hope it gets forgotten about.

Disciplinary action probably seems a bit of a moot point at the moment as how would you punish them?

A points deduction this season may seem a bit redundant since as things stand they're unlikely to stay up.

A financial penalty will only exacerbate the issue that led to this in the first place and again is redundant if Bolton can't pay it or enter administration.

Expulsion from the FL would seem very harsh for a missed fixture.

They may be waiting to see if a points deduction for next season is appropriate but if that's the only reasonable course of action then it's hardly hanging over anyone's head.

Is there a usual punishment for a failure to complete a fixture?

The punishment should simply be the 3 points awarded to Doncaster, and Bolton ordered to pay them for financial losses.

Has a club ever ended the season with negative points?

I suspect they will wait until we finally get into positive points and deduct them then OR, wait till the end of the season when we are completely relegated, and deduct some stuid number of points and say that is a warning to you all......

They waited till Birmingham couldn't go up or down before deducting points. Turd bags.

It's not just the doncaster game though they also called off the Brentford game last season.
If they do get another points deduction it should be 6

A decision isn’t far off by all accounts but I’ve no idea what it is

Knowing the EFL, they'll probably fine you lot for not making the journey as the EFL didn't officially sanction the postponement, and you should have been outside the ground incase we changed our minds

I was told by someone who works for a county FA that the disciplinary hearing about the Brentford game was to be heard in the 2nd week of September, no idea if it was.
There should be two different hearings per EFL rules, one for the Brentford game and one for the Doncaster game.

The punishment ranges from a fine to points deductions for the Brentford game but the Doncaster game is going to be a bit of a precedent because Bolton called it off themselves without notifying, well, anybody. Could see them face a very hefty fine and way more than 3 points deduction if the EFL want to set an example.

True, BUT we were adhering to the EFL's own rules (the same rules that they used on us when we wanted to play the Brentford game with our under 23's), so this one is going to be more tricky. And we did warn the EFL what we were proposing, we just didn't tell Donny....neither did the EFL

The truth of the matter is you refused to play, as a club you knew that you would have to start the season with limited senior pro’s yet stated that you could fulfill your fixtures but in the case of our game you didn’t want to play it. As far as I’m concerned Bolton forfeited the game however I doubt that will happen.

You lot just want to be "Given" the points, as far as I am concerned now, I couldn't give a shit in regards to opinions. The EFL will do what they want to do, when they finally decide to make a decision. We may end up still going down, but I will piss myself if we have a major miracle and stay up, and you lot will stay be bitching about the issue. Positive points at the moment

You’re comments just show how much you are missing the point, I would rather we play the game but as a club you refused to play play our game it wasn’t postponed and this was after you as a club stated you could fulfill you’re fixtures. Any grief you have is with the EFL but you’ve took the piss out of a fellow club who probably had sympathy for you until you thought they didn’t matter.

Suspect a lot of L1 clubs will be consulting their legal teams if Bolton escape a points deduction.

My disdain is down to your ignorance, and you lot moaning about the issue are also missing the point. No one is going to like the EFL's decision FACT, we'll moan if it is too harsh and you lot will moan if it isn't, either way, until your club goes through something similar, you will have no idea. I suspect no club in the lower leagues has
lived within it's means, and no club is debt free. But you need good owners to take you through, unfortunately some of us haven't and this is the real point, the EFL have a duty to underpin the running of the lower leagues. They are quite happy in allowing anyone to own a club, and their requirement to do so is so tenuous, it causes clubs to fail. They refuse to impose responsible checks on owners, refuse to go down the route of salary caps, mess about with the lower league comps and FA Cup, to the point where you only make money if you are on TV or make it throug h to round 3, negotiate a piss poor deal with the Premiership for payments, negotiate and even worse deal regarding TV rights. We fucked up, and I cannot deny that, but how long is it taking them to make a decision eh? You keep talking about punishing us right, if you were in my position, don't you think we have been punished enough? For Christ sake, we still don't know how far it goes yet I'm pissed off with it, but am also pissed off with some of you going on about. That's my last comment on it.

Yes, the Football League have taken too long to make a decision but then they gave you a lot of leeway (and quite leniently considering Macclesfield have been charged yet not in administration) for your takeover to happen (I'm glad it happened by the way) which has distorted the league.

Other teams when in trouble have played games, you didn't twice so that is why others are pissed off with it and we'll comment on it as we're are pissed at the length of time taken for the possible punishment as well.

And no you haven't been punished enough as you didn't play 2 games when scheduled with affected other clubs and fans. If/when that has been dealt with then it is over.

Also, you really seem to be passing the majority of the blame on to the Football League in your post when it isn't but they certainly have their share. The majority of the blame is with your club, its owners and its overspending.

FFS let me repeat IT HAS FECK ALL TO DO WITH OVERSPENDING!!!! we had no debt when Anderson arrived, the previous owner (who the debt was with) wrote it all off. Anderson didn't have any money to keep the club going. We have been under a transfer embargo for 3 years, the league sign off on all transfers. We are in the mess because the head of the EFL at the time, allowed Anderson to buy the club, then assurred everyone Anderson would put money into the club and not to worry, and assurred his own board that Anderson would stick to his promises

We went through worse in 1998 so for your club to do it to one that could sympathise makes it so much worse, keep you’re condescending comments about other fans off you’re keyboard because I certainly understand but we as a club sorted ourselves out without affecting any other Club.

The arrogance of some clubs who think they’re in league one as a punishment, for whatever reason, we’re all here on merit and there’s little point asking the rest of us to feel sorry for you. You may well find yourself in league two next season but that also will be on merit. It’s how a league system works.

You failed to complete your fixtures last season and used a dubious rule to cancel one this time around. Take your punishment, whenever that might happen, be a big boy and suck it up.

Yes the EFL are incompetent, but that doesn’t just apply to you. You should never have been allowed to start the season until the takeover was complete, much like Bury.

Delusional, it is everybody else's fault, not us waah waah.

Why would Anderson need money to keep you going if you weren't overspending?

Those players must have imagined not being paid so even more reason to give you a big points deduction as by your own comments you should have had the cash for the wages.

This.

You may have been debt free when the takeover happened, but if you were still debt free now, and weren’t overspending, it would have been relatively simple to take out a small loan to cover any cash flow issues.

The only way you can realistically be in this mess now is if you are still overspending, or the debt wasn’t wiped when the takeover happened.

Let me break this down for you:
When Anderson bought the club, we had a couple of players still on high wages BUT the wage bill was down to the lowest it had been since 1996.
Unlike your stadiums, the upkeep, safety certificates, catering contracts are as a result of the large stadiums. The Police were still charging us premiership costs to police the stadium and areas, even though we hadn't been in the prem for years...and continue to do so. These costs had not reduced and were one of the reasons we struggled to keep our heads above water...
You know what, forget it, whatever I say you will still argue.

I am going to pick on your clubs as you have voiced an opinion. If brentford had not sold the players it had in the last few years, you would be in deficit as your transfers have kept you where you.... your net debt is £69m (http://financialfootballnews.com/brentford-fcs-2018-finances/).
Oxford United operate at a loss every year, it won't let me put the link up to your local rag, but they did a piece on you in April 2019, you lot transfer money from overseas to keep you lot going, major concern that
