I thought it was entertaining too. Our heads seemed to drop after their second went in and I was expecting us to be really slow in the second half and I was like "Not another poor second half, please", but we came out and showed a lot of fight which was pleasing. Happy for Gilliead that he got a goal; I think he's been much better in the last few months. Also, we look so much better with Derbyshire partnering Cook.
It was a strange game for the first 20 minutes we were so bad and it looked like being a 3 or 4 nil and then the penalty seemed to knock you for six and you went to shit. I thought the first 15-20 of the second half you looked absolutely there for the taking too, misplaced passes, crowd getting riled and I didn’t think you looked threatening at all until you equalised but then after that it was one way traffic and the winner was inevitable and in the end deserved.
I had a great day though, loved the atmosphere with both sets of fans bouncing off each other and have to say I was really impressed with how loud you were when you scored, proper raised the roof.

Fucking yes Pools!

Weren't at the races for a good chunk, improved with the substitutions in the second half, just about deserved the point but a 94th minute winner to cap it off, is nectar lads

:woot:
It’s weird, definitely had miles better performances in recent games and came away dissapointed with Crawley also grabbing wins to rub salt into the wounds.

Pretty poor today, especially first half and grab the win, with them lot getting beat.

Plenty twists and turns left in the remaining weeks. Grimsby on Friday now is huge… hopefully they roll over for us like they did Crawley

I think we're a great away day in general. Glad you enjoyed it despite the result. I'm sure we'd both much prefer to be playing each other than against soulless shite like Salford and Harrogate. Don't think it's a coincidence that some of the more enjoyable and entertaining games have involved really good followings from visiting clubs.

We definitely still could.

However I wouldn’t even react to the strange little shadow dweller

I don't mind you staying up to be honest as you're always a guaranteed 6 points for us.

1-1 at Sixfield's this afternoon. I know it's a cliche but the match was very much a game of two halves.

They were all over us from minute one, very much like the reverse fixture, for the opening 20-25 minutes we didn't have a sniff, only one team in it. After 4 or 5 minutes Northampton were in front, from our point of view it was defended horribly, a long throw into the box wasn't dealt with by McCracken, the ball eventually fell to the feet of Appere who guided his effort perfectly into the bottom corner through a crowded area.

Northampton looked far more likely to add a second than we did to equalising, we looked nervous, their press was causing us issues left, right and centre. Appere probably should have made it 2-0 from a header midway through the half. Both sides exchanged a couple of half chances as the half grew to a close but Northampton went in at half time in full control.

Although I said we had the better of the second half it wasn't really until the hour mark that we started to threaten, even though we'd improved in the opening 15 minutes, it was Northampton that went closest to getting the games second goal with a couple of efforts into the side netting.

For some reason Northampton sat back and we started to work ourselves into the game. Clark, Norris and Sweeney all went close before Rose hit the crossbar. With about 15 minutes left we managed to level, a great turn by Reid just outside the box and he fired his effort in low along the ground, hit one post, rolled across the face of goal before hitting the other post and creeping in.

After that I thought we might push on for a winner but it never really materialised, seemed like both sides settled for the point in the end.

Absolutely, over the moon for Askey, bloke has been brilliant since coming in, worlds apart from the miserable Scotch dwarf and Curle's ramblings.

Aye Grimsby, you've fuck all to play for, roll over for belly tickles Friday!

We've got Crawley on Friday. I can't remember the last time we beat them...:surr:
Typical haha!

To be fair we’ve been much improved under Askey, it’s just coincided with Crawley picking up results in their games in hand to give them that cushion. Still all to play for, we have Crawley at home in a couple of weeks and that’s going to be MASSIVE

We really need a win somehow, it’s not going to be pretty whatever happens today.

Turns out it was kinda pretty IMO mate. Watched on iFollow. Played much better than the last few weeks although Crawley helped us look good but whatever, could/should have been quite a few more than four.

Fair shout Son of Cod on GTFCfish tempting fate up there too.

Sat back through tiredness I think to be fair. Another couple of injuries today and the lack of game changers off the bench. Point was fair, both teams looked good in their respective halves.

Gotts finally turned up this season - great strike for our winner. Everyone off the bench to celebrate in what is probably a pretty meaningless game for all concerned, but it was more relief after a frustrating second half which was just Ollie Hawkins dropping to the floor around the edge of the area every 60 seconds. Thankfully ref wasn’t buying it.

I thought it was a closely fought game, both sides clearly nervous and very few risks were taken - having said that both sides did make errors at the back which weren't capitalised on.

We was marginally the better side, we forced more and better chances and Holy had a few things to save. We scored when we was on top, lucky goal but you take it. We controlled the second half I thought for long periods - demonstrating why we've been top for so long.

Stupid from Charlie Kelman to get himself sent off, nearly cost us well. We got lucky when Edmondson I think it was went through on goal and wasn't able to finish after rounding Vigs. The last 15mins we was holding on for dear life but with a bit of luck got over the line - We played better in our last home game but failed to see out a 2 goal lead in stoppage time, but today luck was on our side in this one.

Wellens has taken some flack for his subs the last 2 games, but today he made two big calls and it paid off. Getting Jordan Brown on and Ruel Sotiriou - whos shot resulted in the goal.

Those games are never an easy watch in League two, tensions on both sides.

Carlisle will come again for sure, they worked tirelessly all game and caused us alot of issues with their pressing.

Stags should have scored ten today, Crawley are the worse side to visit the Mill this season. You can see why they are down there.
Grant was a waste of a shirt and nowhere near the performance when I saw him play for Swindon a few seasons back.
I hope Pool and Dale are happy with our result.

Deserved win in the end. We were in total control until a stupid penalty which gave Grimsby the momentum for the next 15 minutes. Second goal was as scrappy a goal as you'll ever see.

But then second half Grimsby time wasted and created absolutely nothing and got what they deserved in the end.
Grimsby did not create a single chance yet scored 2 goals. Worryingly, it is not the first time that has happened this season. 3 points; ref a bottler, lino at Midland Rd side needs to retire and we have to keep Derbyshire fit.

Having seen your side a couple of weeks ago, you look too good to go down. I hope you do stay up and hopefully we can do you a massive favour by beating Crawley on Good Friday

Massive result(s) for us today. Don’t think even we can fuck it up from here. 6 more points from 8 games should do it.

Didn’t deserve to win today because that was a shocking second half performance. Changes needed up top and in goal, the rest of the team is generally ok but just a bit limited, Holohan was pap today.

Thought Bradford were there for the taking at the start of the second half but as usual we don’t take advantage of a strong position. McAtee seemed to be in a sulk after halftime and it seemed to mirror the flow of the game.

Ref was awful but lots of decisions not given both ways. We all hate timewasting and both teams guilty of it today. Smallwood is an absolute c*** but he’s clever, should be getting booked for the amount of whinging he did today.

Given some of the negativity when he was loaned, see Connor Jennings got another goal for Pools today. Hope he can help keep you up.
