Be most surprised if this isn't the first sold out game this season (home and away end)- Notts County early on in the season didn't quite have the frisson as they were fairly pants at the time.

Around 9,700 - will be a good atmosphere for this one

Any local club should sell Lincoln away

We had 674 in a reported crowd of 1131 at Met Police.

686 Notts County up at Oakwell. Pretty decent that given the season they're having.

Crewe away sold out half an hour after going on general sale. I didn’t get one, so it’s either hope Crewe give us more, or sit in that massive main stand.

Takes a strange football fan to sit in the home end, very few do it.

No idea why Crewe didn't allocate us the Railway end from the off, we had 1,600 at Morecambe so we were always going to sell out at Crewe... strange :err:

Maybe these days, but I did it a few times back in the '80's when there were far more open away ends and if it was pissing down it was rather a sensible thing to do.

Yeah fair enough, these days very few do it.

You always get those games nowadays where the demand far exceed the away end, and some people seem to think hundreds are willing to invade the home end, when in reality it’s about 20.

If the Police were genuinely bothered about trouble in this game they’d just give us a bigger allocation. 2-300 Tranmere fans mixed in home end is far more likely to cause trouble. But there won’t be.

Nothing strange about it at all, if you want to go and watch a game and it’s the only option you’ve got.

Why do so few bother then?

It’s a lot more difficult to enjoy a away match in the home end.

We have several hundred do it at Southport a couple years ago. Chester and Wrexham away last season we had some so it too. Macclesfield year before.

Happens a fair bit when allocations don’t meet demand. If we stay in and around our current spot there’s probably 5-6 more games it may be an issue.

Done it plenty of times. Probably happens more than you think, as most keep quiet and blend in.

It takes a strange football fan to draw attention to themselves when sat in the home end, but many do it just because they want to be there.

I’m not denying it’s done, but generally not by hundreds like some suggest, it’s always overplayed.

I've been in the home end at Guiseley after travelling all the way there and realising I'd forgotten the tickets... (sold out for away fans, home fans allowed to pay on the gate). I'm an idiot though... :bl:

Lol when we went in Boltons home end we equalised in injury time with 10 men and went mental, then suddenly realised that’s it might not have been the best idea!
No trouble whatsoever though thankfully.

I had to go in the home ends at Darlo once as we'd long since sold our allocation. I stayed quiet throughout, never sang and got a few suspicious looks. We equalised and I went mental, I kicked the chair and shouted IIRC 'fuck off Darlo you useless twats' to celebrate our goal. Cue virtually the whole section staring at me. Luckily I'm good at accents so when one asked 'where you from son?' I replied in a scouse accent and said I was visiting family nearby.

2 times I can remember at Blundell Park were there were hundreds of away fans in the home end were Newcastle in their promotion season under Keegan, when Andy Cole scored it seemed the whole fucking ground was celebrating, and Man City some time in the early 2000’s, there were loads of them all around the ground and in the Pontoon the stewards were kicking a load of them out as they all gave themselves away when they scored, one poor bastard as he was being ejected got smashed in his jaw and knocked out, and the steward just carried on dragging him down the steps unconscious. :eyes:

Was Grimsby one of the grounds where Wednesday served their away fan ban for the Oldham riot?

You're probably too young to remember Chelsea at home last day of the 83/84 season, when they had to win to clinch the title. Chelsea fans everywhere that day, even in The Pontoon, but they were soon chased out of there by The Pontoon Boot Boys. :bg:

Yeah it was a bit before my time that, my first game was the Wrexham 5-1 Birtles hat trick promotion clincher game.

Just had a look and found this so yeah looks like you’re right, well before my time again though.
